Edward and Kristen were great and worked with us on a deal for a beauty I will cherish. I took my watch here for a new battery and the owner broke it, then tried to charge me $180 for unnecessary repairs. Don't bring your valuables here. Don't buy from here. Avoid this place. I'm going to do my darnedest not to editorialize, but WOW--I'm beside myself. The watch I brought them was 6 or 7 years old--it was a birthday gift from my wife. Prior to bringing it to Gold Store it had never been opened, repaired or had a battery replacement. I dropped the watch off and came back a couple hours later--the owner told me "The circuit was busted," that he'd tried testing it, but it would cost $180 to fix--cheaper than if I'd gone directly to the manufacturer. I said OK and left, but something about the interaction didn't sit right, so I started doing some research. What I learned is that manufacturer repairs were cheaper than what I'd been quoted, which made me feel like maybe the watch wasn't broken and I was probably getting ripped off. The next day I went back, re-claimed the watch before they could start on repairs and took it to another jeweler for a second opinion. What I learned was, yes, the watch was broken, but it didn't need a new circuit. Instead, I was shown how it was broken from someone trying to unclasp the battery, and accidentally breaking the coil attached to the circuit because they were being sloppy. Thankfully the other jewler was able to repair it for a fraction of the original price--$50, not $180. But still, I can't believe how unscrupulous the behavior of the owner was. Speaking personally, I'm disgusted and hope you, dear reader are, too. More importantly, I hope this review was helpful. If you have jewelry or valuables in need of repair, stay away from this place--you'll regret it if you don't. read more

After 24 years of marriage I bought my wife a new wedding set for Christmas. A beautiful set very much deserved. We took them in to be bonded together. We should have taken the first hint and ran for the hills. His first question was "are the diamonds real?" REALLY? Then as he was looking at them he dropped them three times on the floor. Finally, he stated he could do the work while we waited. Sounded good, or so we thought. This is where it just got worse. His bonding was a 'glob' (later found a couple other reviews with the same issue) on the inside and looked like a kid did the work. The rings were not aligned so that the diamonds on both rings matched up. And scratched them up on top of that. We also noticed that one of the diamond channels was now blackened. When we brought the black to his attention he pushed blame onto my wife. He stated it was due to 'hand lotion'. She had only worn the set 5 times prior to this as she wanted it bonded so as not to turn on each other and possibly scratch each other. And anytime she does lotion, her jewelry is removed and it's allowed to dry on her hands prior to putting them back on. He steam cleaned it 3 times. Although better, not complete nor right. Besides the fact the jewelry should have been cleaned prior to any work being done to avoid any possible issues as this. Looking back through the reviews done on this shop, apparently we are not the only ones that have experienced these issues. And on top of that, anytime issues were brought up. In person or on reviews, the blame is always shifted back to the customer. If professional steps were taken, these issues would not be that, ISSUES. Needless to say, we left as fast as possible. After a new thorough search, we found a absolutely wonderful jeweler in Palm Desert On Town Center Way. As he was inspecting the set, the bond came apart in his hands. He was so apologetic for what was done. And it wasn't even his work. He not only removed the nasty work completed by the first jeweler. He aligned the diamonds on the rings as they should have been in the first place. He also had to remove and replace one of the diamonds in the blackened channels in order to clean and remove the blackened error. He too said that if the rings would have been cleaned prior to any bonding work completed, then the burned blackness would not have happened. Lessons learned. Would not, nor will not recommend nor return to this jeweler. And I am sure, like with all the other negative reviews posted. They will push the blame on the customer. Also, as with the other reviews, the other customers like us know better. A true professional takes responsibility for their actions, good or bad. On that note, do your research. And find a jeweler that is just that, 'A PROFESSIONAL'. read more

They are Scheisters and downright liars!! Make you an offer to buy your jewelry, put it in writing. When you leave, 5 minutes later lower it and tell you they will keep lowering it. Then lie, stating that you went to three different places receiving a lower offer - a LiE!!! DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS STORE!!! My wedding ring and engagement ring separated so I needed to have them soldered. Ed did a horrible job!!! Not only was the soldering an ugly splatter, he also didn't match up the two rings correctly and covered up a diamond that is on one side of my engagement ring. When we pointed out his mistake he adamantly refused to fix it and charged us $180 for his botched job... so disappointing!!! We then had to take my rings to Robbins Brothers in Riverside (55 miles away) and leave them there to be fixed and pick up the next day. They had to undo Ed's botched job in order to solder them correctly. My 20 year old wedding ring set now looks beautiful thanks to Robbins Brothers and they only charged us $150 for all of this! Today we visited Ed at Gold Store to show him my fixed ring and request a refund which he adamantly refused to do. I brought in a sentimental piece, a man's gold chain that had broken. Whilst I waited sitting on a comfortable stool. The gentleman took about 20 minutes and beautifully repaired the chain. Well, my first review was taken down because I was apparently honest and the owner of this establishment didn't like it. I will admit I may have written it in a too harsh of a way, but those were my thoughts about my experience. I guess it's ok for the owner to message me her thoughts about my karma and having my tail between my legs. First of all, I am not competition to this store. I do know a lot about jewelry as my parents were both in the business, but I do not own a store and was not paid to write my review. As someone who visited their store back in April 2017, I have a right to leave my review, so I'll try again. My experience was not a good one. I felt they overcharged for many of the pieces on display, a lot of the stones did not look like they matched the quality of the prices they were asking. I felt both of the owners were condescending when speaking to me as if I did not know what I was talking about. To me, how you talk to someone about your product is your selling point and theirs did not display a level of professionalism and trustworthiness I want when making an investment in jewelry or gold. This was my experience, and if others had a great experience, that is fine and that was their experience. I don't think it's right or fair that Kristen E, belittle or complain about negative reviews as if they are all her competition or someone paid. Yelp, as well as any other thoughts on their practices should all be taken into consideration to better ones practice. I have never been paid to tell my truths. Isn't that what Yelp is for? I personally will not be shopping in this establishment again, and I will say that I don't think it's ok that an owner reviews their own business. What are they supposed to say? "don't shop here"? My mother had just passed away and my partner and I were visiting the desert to attend her wake. We walked in the store admittedly rather vulnerable and when we asked to see some rings and Ed (the jeweler) heard our story he ran over to where we were talking to his wife and said that the rings were were looking at were mis-marked. That the cost of gold had doubled and he would take a loss but if we bought them today he would honor the price. That as soon as we left he was marking the prices up to double the tag price. We left the store saying we would be back that day to give our answer and he smiled and reminded us it was for one day only. We decided against the purchase and when we got home and checked prices of gold with similar size stones in it we found out that while he was charging a fair price he was not truthful about the value of the rings. To me this was unscrupulous sales pressure and especially at a time that I was vulnerable and he knew that. What dishonest people! I stopped in with my late mother's diamond ring. The "gentleman" behind the counter told me it was a very low grade diamond. For a nearly 3 carat stone he offered almost nothing. Little did he know that I had a GIA certificate for the diamond. The jeweler told me it was K-L color while in reality it was graded as a F color. He said it was at best a SI-1 while the GIA stated it was VVS-2. Beware of these very dishonest jewelers! I ended up selling for close to 10 times the ridiculous offer. read more
