Other then beef you get a few choices of chicken breast, sausage and mash and other pub fare as well as lamb and fish. Deserts range from ice cream to warmer deserts such as apple pie. During busy times service to your table is slow. The bar itself is quite well manned and you will get your drink quickly unless the bar is really busy. There's a wide selection of drinks from spirits to soft drinks. If it's a nice night you can also choose to sit out by the river and enjoy yourself in style.

Not only is it perfect for its food and beer, but for its location is fantastic, set right next to the village green, it is the perfect place to sit with a beer and watch the village cricket team while the sun goes down on a English summer. It is hard not to be biased when talking about the bull, but i would truly encourage anyone passing through to stop off for at least a pint.

There were a good selection of beers and the wait staff was friendly. I probably wouldn't have given it another thought however, if I hadn't come back tonight for dinner. Most of the menu looked appetizing, but I ended up ordering from the specials menu. I had the mussels as a starter, and a slow cooked beef in a red wine sauce as the main. The mussels were cooked in a white wine and cream sauce and served with a slice of garlic bread. I'm fairly partial to mussels in general, but these did not disappoint. As for the beef, the presentation was outstanding. A perfect cylinder of meat on a square bed of mashed potatoes. The meat was perfectly seasoned and fell apart in my mouth. It was served along side a selection of vegetables that were also cooked perfectly... hot, fresh, and not mushy or overcooked at all. Sadly I'm heading home early in the morning, but the next time I'm out here I plan on coming back!

The parsnips were burnt to the point that they were charcoaled and inedible and the carrots were only slightly better. The Beef was over cooked and was quite tough to eat. On a plus the gravy was very nice but I have to say that was the only positive on the plate. The cheeseburger was mediocre to say the least and the millionaire fries were over oiled and this resulted in the fries at the bottom of the bowl being soggy. When we explained the issues to the waitress she pulled a face and said oh sorry about that and walked off with the plates. There was no offer of telling the kitchen or the manager nor did we feel that she really cared that we were not satisfied with the food. The total bill came out at £122.00 and I have to say that after being served what we had this really wasn't value for money or good service. If you are looking for a nice, enjoyable value for money meal out this is not the place to go.

The Crown is just the right size to feel cosy without being too crammed, a bit dark on the sunniest day of he year perhaps, but then it's only sensible to take shelter at midday. I always insist on having fish and chips when by the seaside and was almost disappointed to not find this basic pub grup offering here ... the menu is a lot more sophisticated and I had my cod served served on a bed of sweet potato. The fish is caught locally and was beautifully presented and delicious. We had a taste of the chips as a starter along with freshly baked bread (on the premises!) and pickled eggs (I was too squeamish to try those, but apparently they were delicious and definitely not of the turned-blue-on-the-counter type). And we didn's stop there, the pudding menu was just too tempting. I decided to stick to ice cream (bakewell tart flavour!) and soon had food envy as other's plum compote, tarts and cakes arrived - everything tasted just as wonderful as it sounded on the menu and looked on the plate. Lunch at the Crown Inn alone is reason enough not to leave it too long till the next trip.

The Black Pig is a superb pub with a mouth-watering menu. The roast beef with Yorkshire pud is very near perfection, with major respect to the chef for his gravy (I'm a total gravy buff, I always attack my roasts armed with an extra jug of gravy). I also tried the roast pork; cooked absolutely perfectly with a nice big chunk of beautifully roasted and spiced crackling. My sister's lucky to have gotten away with any at all... They've got a parking lot around the back, which is convenient considering that parking in T Wells is one of those circle-round-for-hours-hating-life type of experiences... BBQs every Sunday evening in the beer garden, definitely giving that a go. I peeked a look at the BBQ menu, first thing on offer: "Bunny Burger"! They've got my attention and my business!
