Most of the patrons seemed to be staying in the hotel, but the pub was lively, with several groups and families. The bar staff was efficient for only two. The "Crispy Confit of Duck Leg nestled on Champ and braised Red Cabbage drizzled with a sweet Chilli Sauce" was amazing. I didn't think I was into duck confit or braised red cabbage but this unassuming establishment changed my mind. If I'm ever in northern Northern Ireland again, I will revisit.

On entering we found a local guy singing Elvis songs to the jukebox with a broom in his hands as a mike stand! We thought the usual - Here's a drunk!, but, no. He asked us very nicely if we had any requests and proceeded to play, and sing, them. After a few drinks it was our turn to request, and sing! By the end of the night, a singing group, booked to play in the nearby hotel had found they had no audience and come into the Ardview to join in! The selection of drinks was excellent considering the problems of getting stocks (apart from malt whiskies, of course!) and we were accepted as part of the family within a very short time. The next day, locals were stopping to talk in the street and say how much they'd enjoyed the night - yet it was down to them! Magical!
