My husband and I visited New Orleans for our anniversary in 2015. We walked the art district and found a gallery for Nautical Wood Maps. When I got home I went online and noticed they had all kinds of lakes and areas. My in-laws live on Lake Ray Hubbard, but I did not see that specific lake on their site. I emailed them a few times over the years, wondering if/when they would ever have the map. A few days ago I received an email from them titled 'Don't mess with Texas' and I fluttered! The shop is using "The Giving Tree Gallery" now. It still has a large percentage of gorgeous wood crafted items -- small to large wooden boxes, pill boxes, sculpture, mirrors and wall clocks, all in exotic and varied woods -- but it also has small crafts, ceramics and unusual and different jewellry, items I haven't seen anywhere else. They have some beautiful brushed stainless and sea glass necklaces and earrings, sparkly earrings by someone named Holly Yashi, and a whole line of necklaces, bracelets and earrings by Patricia Locke, whose work reminds me of a Gustav Klimt painting. And the staff is friendly, knowledgeable and patient, but can get a tad overwhelmed when it's busy. read more
