It's a modest pub - not endearingly attractive to look at, nor grand in scope or style, but the efforts of the team running the George is clearly rewarded by the loyalty of the locals.
There's a warm welcome, and a good atmosphere of locals interacting with each other. Counting the outdoor seating, there are four distinct areas to the pub, which might at first seem a little old fashioned, but it's probably more evolutionary than dogma: a restaurant area, a lounge bar, and a TV / Games room.
