We have two sons that attend The Geneva School (TGS). We have been so impressed with the Geneva School! My older children attended a classical school, and when our youngest entered Kindergarten, we really want her to experience the same level of education. We have not been disappointed! She is reading, and LOVING it! (and the same goes for geography, history, math, art....) There is no frustration or annoyance with learning. This is giving her the proper attitude regarding higher learning that I saw in my older kids. But the best part about Kindergarten has definitely been Mrs Lee. She is amazing! she encourages and builds my daughter up, she is patient and kind, and expects them to give their best! My daughter has thrived under her leadership. I know the rest of the staff will continue to mold and shape her in the same way! Also, the way the school dealt with the craziness of this 2020-2021 school year has been nothing short of miraculous. We are a new family to The Geneva School and what a wonderful school we have found. Thanks to a friend of ours who transferred to this school as well, we discovered a tiny spot in OC where rigorous education and kindness exist everyday. We decided to switch our daughter from catholic education to Geneva based on its curriculum as well as the friendly environment that it offers. We have not been let down. My daughter has thrived academically, and I could not be happier that she loves going to school everyday to really learn but to also see her friends. Mrs. Bonecutter does an amazing job to set the tone for the school and leads the school with a firm but kind style. It's great to see a Head of School who is approachable, knowledgeable as well as friendly. In first grade, we are studying the mysterious owl. Our inspiration began with admiring the watercolor by Albrecht Durer of "The Little Owl". We read books about the places they choose to nest, the prey they hunt, and how they attract their mate. We sketched the owl life cycle as well as learned interesting facts about the owl. We drew barn owls with oil pastels as well as created a great horned owl from a recycled milk jug. We dissected an owl pellet. An owl pellet is undigested parts of their meal that are regurgitated. We dissected these and found multiple skulls within each pellet. As you can imagine our room was filled with excited students. The squeals of delight as they found bone after bone was great. Our first grade class is simply in awe of God's creation. We are in awe of the beauty of His world and love to read, talk, sketch and yes, dissect. The Geneva School has excellent teachers, strong academics, a Christian curriculum, and a close community. The parents were very involved in establishing the school and the board is comprised of parents of children that attend the school. Several of the students performed well in the National History Bee competition last year and they performed well on the National Latin Exam this year. It is apparent that the teachers really care for the kids and good insight to their individual personalities. We are really pleased to be sending our kids to the Geneva School. After attending an excellent school in San Jose, it took several years for us to find something comparable in OC. We eventually moved to South County for the school. My three kids love it and my daughter wanted me to make sure I say it is "amazing" when I write this review. read more

Our experience at the Geneva School has been nothing but amazing. We have two children at this school and we are constantly amazed at how much they are learning. They come home singing songs, reciting scripture, and teaching us about things that happened in history that I never learned in elementary school! This school has a rigorous and well-rounded curriculum that expertly incorporates and intertwines math, literature, history, science, art, and music for a rich learning experience for our kids. This school could not be better! From the lovingly encouraging staff to the material I see first-hand coming home, this is the education I wish I could have had! First off, Biblical...the backbone of the education and our society. From this, all else falls into play: virtue, self esteem, caring for others, etc. The Classical...I am learning a fresh from my FIRST grade grand daughter. The Geneva School in Laguna Woods continues to offer a beautiful learning environment for our daughter each year that she attends (she is going on her fifth year). Christ's teachings are incorporated throughout the Classical curriculum, and I can see them taking hold of her character as she is learning more and more of God's truths daily. This school is filled with superb teachers who are committed to Classical Christian Education. The curriculum is both beautiful and unique. It taps into the way children naturally acquire knowledge and has re-invigorated my sons' love of learning, as they excitedly make connections across subjects.
