Terrible school. My last review was removed however it does not violate any yelp policies because this review is not critiquing COVID-19 policies. I am critiquing the way that this school handled this particular issue regarding my daughter. Rather than informing parents that masking would temporarily return, they instead tied an adult sized mask to my 2 year olds face that was so large, that it went from her eyes to her neck. The school claims they notified parents however many other parents at the time with me were confused and wondering as to why they were also not informed. Had I been informed I would have gladly put a child mask on my toddler. I had no issue with the mask but wanted to at least get eye to eye with her so I could assure her everything was going to be okay because she was born in 2020 and was terrified of masks literally her entire life and needed to comfort her and reassure her. They instead tied the adult mask to her face and carried her away. I immediately removed her from the school because of how this was handled. Again, to the yelp moderators that are going to flag this again, I am NOT against the masks! The principal rudely told me, I'm sorry we don't agree with your masking philosophy. I'm not against the masks! I'm against the way that you handled this incident with a 2 year old! I proceeded to leave a bad review to which I was called multiple times by their staff asking to remove it. I will not. Yelp, this review violates no policies. Never again New Horizons. read more

Terrible school. Charged us for entire year in advance, then refused to provide services per contract. Victimizes your children...and pretend they are Islamic but they know nothing about Islam...or for that matter humanity! Discriminatory and retaliating. The school claims they are a non profit, but they do not provide tax deduction to the donors. PER CALIFORNIA LAW THEY ARE OBLIGATED TO PROVIDE TAX DEDUCTION TO ALL PARENTS WHO PAY THEM. As a parent, I am so pleased with New Horizon of Irvine. Alhamdollah we are blessed to find the right program for our kids. At New Horizon, you don't have to sacrifice the academic excellence to get the Islamic values. In fact, the school has strong academic program that prepares the students to the higher grade; they offer rigorous reading plan, hands-on science program, and deep understanding of math concepts. The relationship between teachers and parents is amazing. The teachers collaborate, coordinate, and communicate with parents all the time. The goal of your home and the school's are pretty much aligned for the betterment of the kids. The school's involvement with the kids goes far beyond academics. When my daughter joined the school, she struggled to make friends. Her class teacher worked with her for weeks to connect her with kids of the same interests and traits. The teachers want to make my daughter happy and comfortable so that she can receive whatever information they give her. The l"leader in me" program has a direct impact on my kids communication and social skills. I can see their self confidence and assurance are in place. I am pleased on different levels. When we moved to Newport Beach three years ago my friend highly recommend new horizon for my second grade son. She said it's a great Islamic school with great education, but when we started the school it was more than that for us. Alhumdulliah, Allah truly blessed us when we came to New Horizon Irvine. My four children have had an amazing experience the first year they were here. And by Allah's will, they will still be attending. It is truly a home away from home. The teachers and the administration is so genuine, sweet, and nurturing. Once I drop my children off I know I have left them in the safety and comfort of all those wonderful people. Also, the compassionate hearts are icing on the cake. New Horizon has received the Blue Ribbon this year and has wonderful enrichment programs. We moved to California from the east coast a couple of year ago and New Horizon was a major part of the decision to make the move. My daughter and son love the school and feel right at home. The staff and faculty are among the best we've seen. The Blue Ribbon recognition solidified our feelings about this.
