    Steak Bowl

GET THE STEAK BOWL! Man, you won't regret it. Everything here is good, the bowls seem to be really popular. I went for lunch with a few friends- overall we ordered; steak bowl, Caribbean bowl, hot honey chicken sandwich and veggie burger. Everything is made fresh to order. Our waitress was phenomenal. It's a smaller place but it was not packed as we were there on a Friday for lunch. I will definitely be back!

Service was fantastic, while he did forget something he agreed to bring, his energy was wonderful. Bar is modest; they had no Mezcal and our server hadnt of it. Salmon burger was ok if not a little greasy. Poor ventilation in the space had me wishing for fresh air. My family loves the GP, so I'd come back to try something different. Two word review: waffle fries.

I've eaten here quite a few times. This will be the first time I've been disappointed. I ordered lemon pepper wings. I get that they are smoked which is fine, but they had minimal lemon pepper flavor. I've had other items that I would definitely order again and again but definitely not the wings.

We came in on a Thursday with friends that live in town. On Thursdays they have half priced burgers which is an incredible deal. I got the black and blue and my husband got the bacon bbq. The burgers were cooked perfectly and the fries are so crispy. Our server was great I would definitely recommend.

3.5 Rating First visit and I thought you ordered at the counter but after I stood at the counter for a minute the waitress asked if I was dining in and said I could sit and she would come to me. She was friendly throughout. I ordered the turkey sandwich and fries. It arrived timely and the fries were hot and crisp. The roof had a leak due to recent storms but they had a large trash can under it. Would not be good for large groups if they were busy.

    Jerk chicken bowl

Second time trying their food and I'm still amazed by the flavors. Wasn't sure how authentic the jerk chicken would taste but it had the perfect amount of seasoning and spices to taste like actual jerk chicken. Wasn't a fan of the raisins in the carrot slaw, which I had to pick out. Defintiely a small restaurant worth checking out!

I love the atmosphere from the art wall to the engaging customer service. I wasn't too hungry so I only had the coconut shrimp curry and it didn't disappoint. Yummy!

I grabbed dinner here the other day. I tried the buffalo wings. They had a combo of smoke and grill flavoring. I also tried the coconut curry shrimp public bowl, which was very flavorful. I also got a Caribbean jerk public bowl. There wasn't as much heat with the jerk, but if you don't like any spice, I recommend getting something else. The beans in the Caribbean bowl weren't as tender as I would've liked. They have a good amount of tables and seating. The staff is really nice and answered all of my questions. The prices are reasonable. I'd go back and try something else.

    Waited an hour for this.

For one, they could allow me to cancel my order when I ask them. Not tell me 5-10 more minutes every time it goes by. The wings were all small and mostly bone.

I've ordered here twice now and both times I haven't been disappointed. First was through a food delivery app and the second was a walk in order. Service was very good and we got over food very fast. I got a bbq bacon burger and my boyfriend got the GP burger. We went on a Thursday where they had half off burgers and the deal was def worth it. The burgers are a good size, flavors are good, overall a solid burger.

Burger and fries were very good. Caribbean bowl was a bit dry and didn't live up to the rave reviews. No issues with customer service, yet restaurant is very casual. Good spot if you want to quickly grab a bite to eat without the bells and whistles, not eager to return if visiting Norfolk again.

    12. Count wings all flats "extra crispy"

I have been a regular at this location for several months now. I always order the exact same thing. A dozen wings, all flats, extra crispy. Today was one of the first times that I ordered something to go. When I receive my order, the staff at the front indicated that they put my ranch inside. They had included napkins and then they tied and put a knot in my bag. I then proceeded to walk all the way back to my office to find my food completely burnt. I then walked back downstairs and down the street to this location, and when I asked them for an explanation, the woman had the audacity to look in my eye and tell me it's because " I ordered them extra crispy".... The fact that this woman looked at these wings, thought them acceptable, put my ranch inside the bag and then tied it and nodded it so I couldn't even look at them in the store was crazy. Horrible customer service, horrible quality. Neither I nor anyone from my office will be returning to this location.

Broken window, nasty outside and door was locked during stated business hours.

The food is good, but wait times are insane. Even order ahead will take over an hour. If you have the time they are worth it.

I'm glad to see there are people who are happy with his services but I have found that with reviews, people who get the short end of the stick don't say anything unless it's really, really bad. So I imagine that there are people out there who have had similar experiences to mine but didn't deem it worthy of their time to leave a review. I think it's a huge inconvenience to write this review but I wish someone else would have done this so I wouldn't have had this experience in the first place. Therefore, I am writing this to pay it forward so future bookers can have this data point before deciding if they want to book and put the reliability and concrete-ness of their plans, the smoothness of their event and ultimately their happiness and satisfaction in the hands of this careless, indifferent and unprofessional flake. Long version: The only part of the entire encounter that was positive was that after I submitted the inquiry through Yelp, he responded pretty quickly. After that, it all went downhill. Not only were the email handoffs not warm (as in a "warm handoff" that doesn't leave the customer feeling thrown around between people), unprofessional, disjointed and caused for poor customer experience, I repeatedly had to ask for a link to pay once they had confirmed the date and sent me an invoice confirmation because they had thought I had paid and I hadn't - I was being ethical and trying to make sure they got paid. Then all of a sudden one day, I got an automated email confirmation that my confirmation had been cancelled. No communication from Chef Lin Old or his assistant, Theresa. I had to reach out to THEM asking about the email and was just assuming the best and that they had cancelled it in order to send me a new confirmation where I could pay. But oh no. Chef Lin responds with the unbelievable email: "I decided to take the last two weeks of July - the first week of August to go on holiday. I'm the only one who teaches the classes ( Culinary Instructor of 11 years @ The Art Institute) so no one could cover it. That is why I canceled." I attached the email because I still can't believe how unprofessional he was. I am counting on his services, we are ONE MONTH out, he committed to my dates and the service, he cancels and doesn't even do the courtesy of letting me know himself. I am the one who has to reach out to get clarification and when he provides it, he doesn't even offer acknowledgement of / accept responsibility for / act with professional courtesy for the lack of etiquette and professionalism he is exhibiting. I then write him an email saying how disappointing this experience is and that I will write a review to let other people know they simply cannot count on him and his lack of professionalism. He responds with "Not sure what the second email is about demanding an apology & wanting to write a bad review. If this is how things are starting then we may not be a good fit for each other?" I have attached screenshots of these emails as well. I didn't demand an apology. I pointed out he didn't provide one; "That's super disappointing to hear and the lack of apology or proactive explanation for the inconvenience is really poor customer experience." And not a good fit? What a petulant understatement. I live in San Francisco and perhaps the level of service and standard of professional etiquette is higher there than in the Virginia Beach area but I found Chef Lin Old's correspondence, limited customer service, and backing out of his commitment of service (last minute, no less!) abysmal. I am sure that if we had gone through with the service, he himself would have been unbearable. The ego, dismissiveness and lack of ownership that insidiously eeked out through our interactions would have ruined my cousin's party's evening. I'm a silver lining person and so I've convinced myself it's a good thing the reservation didn't go through BUT I do not tolerate behavior like this in the customer service industry. I don't care - small company to Amazon. We are all customers these days and interactions should be led with and based on empathy and compassion. The way Chef Lin Old approached this CS interaction was like a large company that didn't care about the small customer and how it ruined their day / trip / experience: indifferent, careless, un-empathetic. No one wants or deserves to be treated this way. I am so thankful that I was able to find another chef on such short notice but being treated with such unprofessionalism and being stranded last minute without a chef when the entire attendance of the bachelorette (including the bride-to-be, my cousin, who I can't let down!) were counting on and looking forward to a private cooking class, I feel obligated to write this review so no one goes through what I did.

We were fortunate enough to receive a recommendation from our wedding venue, Norfolk Botanical Gardens, for an incredibly talented catering team, East Beach Catering, who exceeded our every expectation! We interacted with a few different team members from the East Beach Catering, and what struck us most about their team was their ability to capture, transform and bring to life the ideas we had for the vision of our wedding palette without missing a beat. Their attention to detail and artistic eye brought out the smallest, most tender moments that may have otherwise been overlooked. We received so many compliments about the quality of food and service provided by the East Beach Catering team! It's 52 days later and our guests haven't stopped raving about the delicious food they received! Chelsea and her team are not only masters in creation, but they are also true professionals. They arrived on time, maintained a friendly and approachable demeanor, and made every small detail look perfect. The level of communication provided by the East Beach Catering team is impeccable as they were always willing to answer a text, email or call whenever we had a question, so we knew we were in good hands the day of the wedding. They even went above and beyond to assist us in providing a full alcohol shopping list (even when we chose not to use their bar services to save money). They were also true champions to set up (and move from one location to another in between events) many different catering options throughout an outdoor wedding, on July 12th, in Virginia! During our tasting, the East Beach Catering team provided many different ideas and suggestions to make sure we could bring our vision to life in the best and most efficient way possible while staying within budget. They were always willing to take feedback (without taking it to heart) during the tasting and were more concerned with making everything 100% perfect for our big day. They asked an abundance of great questions throughout the process to get a feel for what were our absolute "must haves" and even suggested some things we hadn't thought of. They took great caution to note allergies and food preferences for guests and even ran some of our favorite cocktail hour hors d'oeuvres to us while we were in a separate location working on getting additional bride and groom portraits. Working with Chelsea and her team has been an absolute pleasure from first contact until the end of the wedding day. Their exceptional talent, professionalism, and dedication to their craft makes them a stand out choice in the world of wedding catering!
