As the mother of the groom, I watched the day unfold from behind the scenes. There were multiple issues throughout the event, including late chair delivery, incorrect tablecloths, hors d'oeuvres that never made it to many guests, buffet items that ran out before everyone was served, and desserts that many guests--including the bride and groom--never received. Our day-of coordinator also had to step in several times to clear plates, refill the buffet, and manage tasks that should have been handled by the catering staff. We understand that no wedding is perfect, but the level of disorganization was disappointing. One staff member was even socializing with guests and asking if he could join the dancing, which felt very unprofessional. To the owner's credit, she met with my son and daughter-in-law afterward, but the resolution offered did not reflect the impact these issues had on such an important day. There are so many outstanding wedding caterers in the Hampton Roads area. Before making such a significant investment with this company, I encourage couples to do their research, compare several companies, and read recent reviews carefully. We wanted to have tastings from around the world and there recommendations were top notch. My clients and I came for a food tasting and Chef came out and talked with my clients and together added another dish that would ensure all types would be happy. Started off with a passed breakfast ensemble with fruit and danish/muffins. Then for lunch we had Grilled Brats - Germany Beer Battered Fish and Chips - Great Britain Phad Thai - Asia Pollo con Papas - South America Fresh Green Salad and Vegetable Kabobs - USA and to top it off, Assortment of Swiss Desserts - Switzerland. The food and display were amazing and their staff very professional from Emily with coordinating everything from the beginning to their staff that was dressed to the tea sent a professional message to my clients and they were very pleased. They also provided ice cream and punch for the employee social the day before and they ensured the cake was cut at the right time and made it very seamless. It was a pleasure to work with them. We loved the fact this venue was all-inclusive as we no longer reside in the area... it made things so seamless. The only external vendors we had were DJ, baker (wedding cake), linens (only because I wanted purple and gold for our theme), florist/drapery, Photo Booth, photographer, and videographer. As a type A personality who opted not to have a wedding planner I loved the accessibility of the portal and the virtual meetings. The staff even sent pictures of other weddings, chargers, seating plans, dessert table inspo...really anything that I asked for. One of our vendors accidentally sent swatches to the venue and they reached out to us and held on to them so my dad could pick them up. ALSOOOO THE RENTAL COLLECTION DESERVES ITS OWN REWARD!!!! I lovedddddd being able to use the mirror, signage, flawless candles, candle holders, the podium, and the Bentley exit with our leftover funds (due to decreased guest count). The car service even transported us to our hotel at the end of the night. I've had future Gala couples ask me if they should get a wedding planner or coordinator and I told them that would honestly be a waste. I provided our table seating arrangements, name cards, and TL of the day and felt at east through the ceremony. I have to give an HUGE shoutout to Mariah!!!!! She coordinated with my cake designer and florist, helped me navigate a drapery design issue, found my mother in law's fan, kept me and my husband cool during photos, fluffed my train, navigated unexpected guest issues, and probably more that I didn't even see lol. When she told us she was leaving a little after the reception (because she had a wedding the next day) we were genuinely sad and a bit freaked out haha but it was an amazing night. My only and I do mean only con was that during the party portion of our reception a small group of teens/young adults (like 3 or 4) entered the venue space in search of a bathroom (I think due to the proximity to the pier and other restaurants). But we were able to get them out quickly and then had staff near the entrance from that point on. The next day all of our left over items (I'm talking florals, shoes, tuxedo jackets, grand exit lights, hangers, easels, dress bags, and then some) were waiting for us in one area. The items we brought were packed up as we had given to them and I cannot tell you how appreciative I was that they saved the last bit of our wedding cake (we legit had one bite). They even packed up 2 meals that weren't eaten by guests and our extra cupcakes. Even with them being a popular venue with weddings throughout the weekend we felt prioritized and sooo appreciated all of the warm touches and the personalized card!
