When we come from the States and meet up with friends there and always have a great time. The bar staff is really nice, the place has a great layout. You have two areas inside to choose from and a large patio outside. Yes, the patio is in the car park essentially, but they have made a definite break between the car park and the patio with nice landscaping and even in ground lighting. The best night? Monday! Quiz night is a TON of fun here. Even though I know very few of the answers (I blame being American), I still have a great time. I've promised to do the quiz/be the quizmaster. The WiFi is the fastest around, and we're always looking for somewhere to use our American smartphones for free. The only thing I would definitely skip is the food. My husband and I ate dinner before quiz night one of the evenings we were there and it wasn't good. Skip the food and go for the fun.

We often visit Doncaster from the States, as my husband is from there. When we go we spend sometimes weeks in the town and we eat out a lot. The Cheswold is our go-to place. Our friends in Doncaster laugh when we tell them how often we eat there, but they don't understand! I think the Cheswold is a great value for what you get. We often get their Fish and Chips which is really good! The other entrees are also good, but the fish and chips is my favorite. The desserts are good too. The service is excellent, and that's coming from an American with high standards and expectations. The servers are quick and always check on us throughout the meal. The people at the bar where you order are always friendly. We usually sit in the bar, but there is a 'dining room' to the right as you walk in and it serves a different buffet each night. There is also a children's play area. The Cheswold also offers free WiFi, as do most pubs around England. The WiFi here is very slow. It's the one thing I would like to see improved. Overall, I'll be back again and again for a reasonably priced good meal.

I usually order a chicken or a fish as these are cooked amazingly the only thing that is not great is that some of the seats are right next to the main door where everyone goes out to smoke or leave or enter and if you sit on one of those seats and it's cold you are cold as the doors make it very cold so good luck and since refurbishment there is a over 18's only section so if your young child runs over you must dash to grab them avoiding people going in and out of the toilets walking with food and drinks and you cannot change the channel on the TV on your own you must get staff to change it for you can you say a bit annoying but the staff are cheery except for the occasional newbie who is very new to socialisation and not got many people skills but they learn in time and also there is a table with just sports Rv over one table on one busy day we had to sit on this table with a ton of people just looking at us every time they watched sports so we felt awkward but overall very good! To sum the Cumberland in a word it would be brilliant!
