I have made this a stop several times a year for the last 10 years and never, and I mean ever, had a bad experience. The previous comment about bad customer service is confusing because in no way have I ever experienced that. The food is always good, the service is always good and quick. The pies look delicious, but I have not tried one, because if I do, I'll probably be licking the windows what is it at 3 AM wanting another. The Cuban is great, the dirty bird sauce is really good. Also, they have a petting zoo now, and of course produce outside. read more

An absolute must lunch stop! A fun open farmers booth with a sandwich, ice cream, pies, cookies, and more inside :) The older lady at the counter was so so helpful, described the menu items to us and went into which ones were local favorites! The pineapple upside down cake is by far, the perfect combination on moist and cake that you could get, could use more pineapple but ‍ preferences :) My group got one of each of every sandwich and every person had no complaints, i had the jose marti and very very good, not dry or too wet, very tasty. P.S. the farmer outside requires a 10 dollar minimum on card, won't tell you that but will charge the difference :( if i knew that i would've bought more stuff. The strawberries were so so fresh and you can even get a freshly made strawberry shortcake made inside!!! read more

The old lady behind the counter is extremely rude! Some of the worst customer service. I tried coming here twice before, I thought she was just having a bad day but no, she is condensing and acts like you're a bother to her when you come in. Definitely do not recommend this place. read more

Small town atmosphere and a great cuban sandwich for a great price! The lady working was also very nice.

If you're wanting to pay $$$$$ for a mediocre sandwich, this is your place. Pass by it all the time so I thought I'd give it a go. For two sandwiches (that I could've made better at home) and two bags of chips $30. Didn't even include a drink, and bread was so hard on my sub I legit couldn't eat it. I'm far from a picky eater.. I mean I'm still eating the inside of the sandwich.. but this was way overpriced and not even good. read more

Service was horrible. The lady at the cafe was just miserable. It's not how you run a business. We are a large family with a lot of friends, and always loved to support this type of business. But we are definitely not coming back, and let all of our friends know about how bad was the customer service. read more

Ok I've seen some of the reviews and I've driven past this little market so many times and have always wanted to stop... well I finally did and I'm so happy I did I got a small apple pie which was an absolute delight and this sandwich which she made fresh and it was amazing! It was the dirty bird you have to try it! But the fresh fruits and veggies you can purchase too! I'm going back again to try a new sandwich today for lunch when I go past again. read more

I really wanted to like this place, since I just moved nearby. I had a Cuban last week which wasn't bad. I felt sick the next day, but wasn't sure it was from that. Now I am. Today I stopped by and the woman working the counter walked in after I believe she had been eating. Some fries and gravy or something. She set the plate down. Opened a tub on the counter and pulled out a pre made Cuban with HER BARE HANDS and did not wash them prior. I was mortified. I hate being a pest so I almost let it go. Thinking maybe the heat of the press will kill the germs. Then I realized that the tub that she pulled the sandwich from had just been sitting out on the counter. No refrigeration. I asked: "um excuse me, the tub that you just pulled the sandwich from, is that a cooler?" She replied that it was not a cooler, but it kept them cool enough. It was literally just a big plastic tub. I said I'm sorry I'm just a little uncomfortable with the meat, not being refrigerated and just sitting out on the counter like that. She replied to that the owner said that they can keep it that way. That was where I decided to politely let her know that I was sorry to waste it, but I just didn't feel comfortable and would have to cancel the sandwich. She said "you're good". And I left. There are definite food storage and hygiene problems at this place. I believe this is something that starts at the top. You need to be educating your employees on safe food handling and you're not doing it. So hopefully the person doesn't get punished for this, and is actually educated and you take the time to make sure your staff is up to speed on safe food handling. Looking back I'm certain the sandwich I had made me sick the next day the week prior. read more

I don't know what these "one star review" people are talking about. The sandwiches are great and sure the place is small, but that doesn't effect the quality of the food. Staff has always been respectful and the price is very good! read more

Best Cuban Sandwich in the 3 years we've been here in Florida! Awesome cannolis and the pies are awesome as well. Don't be fooled by the fruit stand go inside to the sandwich, shop and bakery you will thank me. read more

Customer service, lady making food was rude and inpatient. Milkshake tasted like chocolate water...

Stopped by because I saw the pie sign. Enter the store and a young fellow advised that they were closed. I was disappointed. Decided to purchase produce I didn't really need and the "owner" of the pie store came out. I commented, that I wished they would sell the pies outside, the woman was visible infuriated, body language showed, I apologize sarcastically regarding my daring suggestion and she went into a spill about how I should come during her hours of operations! May I remind you that this was Saturday at 3:15pm, the door was opened and a young guy was inside ( who tuned out to be her son) Never in my life I have gotten into an altercation with a business owner that's upset because I wanted to purchase their goods! That is the most ignorant attitude I have ever witnessed in my life! Full disclosure: the fruit stand is separate from the pie and sandwich store! We need to start doing business with people who appreciate our hard earned money. Question: if she is there, there were pies in the cooler, the door was opened, why not sell everything you got! I would had bought more pies than I va eat! What an idiot! Good luck! read more

Food was awful. The place is super small. We ordered the Cuban sandwiched and pork sandwich all terrible.

This place was an unexpected pleasure- an adorable little roadside restaurant and market. So many homemade pies! And we found GATOR jam which we haven't seen anywhere else. The sandwiches were yummy, and the ladies were friendly and fun. Service was great. read more

Nice, fresh produce at great prices. This farmers/sandwich shop is good for all your produce needs. They are much cheaper than grocery stores. Blueberries and blackberries are only $2. They also have a great selection of vegetables at good prices. The sandwich shop had a variety of sandwich options. The prices range from $7-$9 for each sandwich. They also had a varity of pickles to choose from with some interesting flavors like jalapeno and hot garlic that are all homemade. The sandwich shop also sells pies and other pastries. The prices range from $3-$12. Sandwich platters are also available with 24 hour notice. Their location makes them easily accessible. There is parking on 3 sides of the building. The farmer produce section is nice and spacious. The produce is assembled for easy access. My reason for four stars is that the sandwich shop did not appear very clean. I didn't feel comfortable ordering food from this venue. I will continue to shop here but only for produce. read more

I got a couple mini pies here and I ended up just throwing them out when I got home. The whipped topping and top of the pies were hard and rubbery, as if it had been sitting out for several days on both of the pies I purchased which really sucked because I love pie :( I'm not sure how long they leave these out for but I'd try it in the store before taking it home and maybe you can get your money back. Produce was great though! read more

Very inconsiderate considering i was a buying customer. They need to fire whoever works the inside desk, she is very rude.

Wonderful Place. Doesn't look like much from the road but make sure you stop! I don't even think the name is on the outside anywhere, it looks like a fruit stand, but it is so much more. Go inside the door to find all kinds of stuff inside. Homemade pies, great sandwiches, shakes, and jellies, jams, etc. We stopped and bought 2 'traditional' cuban sandwiches for the road. I'm from Tampa so I think I'm a pretty good judge of a cuban sandwich.....and this one was the best one I have had in Manatee County, hands down. Great fresh cuban bread & lots of meat. Made fresh as you wait. You can't eat inside, however, there is an outdoor eating area under a roof for shade. I'm so, so sorry we have driven by this place a million times, and only now stopped in for a bite. We will go back often. read more

Isn't it so great to pull off the highway and find a hidden gem like The Garden. An unassuming little garden stand and you enter into a step back in time. One counter has some yummy fresh baked pies and the front counter is where you order sandwiches. If you even think you like a Cuban sandwich.... order it! Delicious fresh baked bread with fresh meat and pickles. After your sandwich is made you take it outside and eat at a picnic table. Pure heaven. Next time we fly into Tampa -- we are Heading towards the Garden. read more

Went here because the reviews were good and the people were nice but I don't think the pies were fresh the coconut one had mold in it and we didn't trust to eat any of the others. Kind of bummer. I went back because it said they are open till 7 but the pie place closes at 6. I would make sure to preorder pies if you want a moldless one. read more

This is one of the more well-stocked roadside stands along 41, with all sorts of different pies being their big draw. Lots of varieties here, and most sound quite good. I come to get boiled peanuts for the wife, which I'm told are pretty good. Also had my first experience with devil crabs here... which I will not be doing again (yuck). Service is very friendly, but prices are high. Bring cash. They take credit/debit, but only on purchases over $10. Parking can get a little squirrelly, since there are no laid out spaces, people just park anywhere. Last time I was there, a woman parked her Lincoln across the entire lot, cutting the parking lot in two. Nice job. Say hi to the cows, too. read more

The Garden is very close to my work so I've been here several times. I'd break down the score like this: Food: 3/5 Cleanliness: 1/5 Service: 2/5 The sandwiches are good, especially the Cuban. And my coworkers love the Reuben. The deviled crab is pretty dry and gross though. The cookies and brownies are less than expected. The pies are about average, nothing spectacular. Prices are slightly more than Subway right across the street and the quality isn't that much better. My biggest problem with this place is cleanliness. They are not in the habit of changing gloves between handling money and food, which leaves a sick feeling in my stomach. Service here has been spotty. Two of the nicer employees are no longer there and we've had bad experiences with two others. In one case, I politely asked the employee to change her gloves after handling money and she lied about touching the money with the gloved hand then gave me attitude. The other time my coworker was having a conversation with a slightly flamboyant employee and the actual owner of The Garden asked my coworker if he wanted her employee's phone number. Perfect if you're sick of Subway and don't want to drive 10 minutes further. Otherwise would not recommend. read more

We have had some amazing over priced pies from this place, but the last one we got was way to expensive to be so bad tasting. It was the strawberry pie and it looked like it was going to be amazing, but it was either old or there was no sugar in it. No good. The produce was pretty decently priced.. Probably depending on the season. I feel a little bad to give such a bad review, but if you charge that much for a pie and it taste so bad it's really hard to ever go back. Maybe just go back for fruit. read more

I've stooped here a few times for produce and wasn't very impressed. The ladies inside are very friendly and do say they have the best Cubans in town, but when it comes to freshness in the produce its not there. At one time i was in a hurry had to stop here and buy some very wilted cilantro and decided after that i wouldn't be returning because of quality and price. The place over off 10th is much cheaper and better quality. I wish i could say the garden had the best price and produce but they just don't... read more

Just moved to Florida from California and was told the Garden was a good place to get a delicious pie and good produce. The produce was great, but the pies not so much. The whip cream was like glue and I couldn't cut through the pie. I called the next day and was told I could get my money refunded. When I arrived to get my refund, I was refused by the manager who was very rude and called me a liar. I would not recommend this location if you want friendly customer service. Cali Girl read more
