The Garda Museum (Irish Police Force) is a little hidden gem in Dublin and would be of interest to people who like Police History or Irish Social History.
The Museum itself is located in one of the stone towers of Dublin Castle.
You must ring the doorbell to gain admission.
It is jam packed with all sorts of wonderful memorabilia relating to An Garda Síochána. Some really lovely old photographs, uniforms, medals etc. The Memorabilia is located on all floors of the tower. It is wise to make your way first, to the top of the tower, after gaining admission as it is a steep climb and then you can make your way down as you view the dfferent floors. Save your energy :-)
There is a lovely view from the top of the tower where there is a small roof garden!
The Garda Records are also held here so if you need to do research on a family member who served, this would be the place to start.
One of my favourite small museums in Dublin. read more
