Oh, my good old nan, God rest her soul. She who snubbed Coffee Bean and Pippins because she was too sophisticated for a greasy spoon and didn't want to admit to being an old person as the people in Pippins seem quite happy to do. Strange really, considering how much she actually enjoyed socialising with other old people.
Anyway, this was the place she always insisted on coming to, and Dad and I didn't mind because it used to be right near Music Zone. Damn, I miss those shops. That was a pre-recession victim too. What a shame. But thankfully the Gallery Grill is not, and it serves up a simple yet effective menu of sandwiches in many forms, jacket potatoes - those were always a particular favourite of mine here, they get the balance of crisp and yielding just perfect AND it's the one place I have cottage cheese - normally the stuff brings me out in a cold sweat but this particular kind is divine. And if you want 'real' cheese, I'd highly recommend the cheese and pineapple version. Melty sweet goodness.
They do a few traditional main meals here too as well as light bites like salads, some puddings, snack type things and a range of beverages. It's certainly a good bet for uncomplicated fare but I'm far too loyal to Pippins to pledge allegiance to it. Although I do keep going back for that baked spud with cheese and pineapple.
