During elections, it's pretty empty in the main room, other than for a few registration tables and voting booths. I really can't believe that this was a library, unless there is a (huge) basement, and I've been here when it WAS the library! There are bridal areas for both the bride and the groom to get ready separately. Though parking is limited, the use of both area hotel shuttles and the story hill's trolley made guest transportation easy. Plus for those guests the should not drive after parting ensures they are back safely to their hotels. Every person the story hill' found or recommended to support our event was fantastic to include the decorations, DJ, wait staff, trolly driver, bar tenders and event manger. The Story Hill Firehouse is a historical firehouse that's been repurposed as an event space. It's all exposed-brick-charming with some outdoor space as well. I'm not exactly sure of the capacity but would say it's an ideal event space for small to mid-sized events. There's some fun historical items throughout the space which makes for an interesting and unique experience. They've done a good job at creating an enchanting events space. For the holiday market, they were able to put several vendors throughout the indoor space (including utilizing their indoor events bar area) as well several outside. They maximized the space and with their roll up garage/fire truck style door (making moving between indoor and outdoor spaces a breeze), it worked wonderfully for the market. I know they have a few events throughout the year. I believe last New Year's they had a 1920's/prohibition themed NYE party. A wonderfully charming event space on the outskirts of the Story Hill neighborhood that would be the ideal spot for weddings, receptions, or really any event you can imagine.

I tried the sausage and the pepperoni with jalapenos. I usually don't like pepperoni. This was fabulous! It had a job of sweetness to it and the tiny pepperonis weren't bitter and overpowering. The jalapenos added just a little punch and the slice was perfectly balanced. I truly enjoyed it and I haven't enjoyed pizza since college back in the 1980's! We were treated to a cotton candy glitter puff to drop in our warm mulled wine. I'm adventurous so I tried it! I enjoyed the beverage but I'm not sure if the cotton candy added anything to the drink. It was super sweet but I LOVE super sweet wine so that was fine by me! The fact that the beverage was warm made it perfect in my opinion. The glitter bomb part -- I'm not so are about. It was something to do. I don't think I understood the instructions or maybe I didn't understand what was supposed to happen. I did, however, love the drink. I think this is one of the most charming venues in town. It's available for rental and the business owners can cater your event. We got a taste of what they can do so I can only imagine what's available when they roll out the carpet for their customers. Drop in access check this spot out. It's charming and cozy. There are a series of paths, a few fountains, and some nice areas where you can relax. They rent out the gardens for parties and weddings. There was a separate carriage house that has bathrooms and facilities to get dressed for events. I am sorry I didn't know about this place sooner. It's really beautiful!

My tickets were a steal at $39.00 each. Almost sold out, I grabbed what was left for my wife and I. The seats were great, and I didn't see a bad seat in the house. Ms. Edmondson's performance was fantastic. Frankly, she sounded better than on her CDs. The acoustics were excellent and the seats were comfortable. Everything was spotless, even the bathrooms. A huge lot makes parking a breeze. Of course, being a matinee on a Wednesday, the audience was older, and I felt like 75 years old was "The Sweet Bird of Youth," but that's okay. My funky appearance caused a few of the Brookfield matrons to stare, but I'm used to that in Milwaukee. The town can be myopic and provincial in how they treat older men who dress "arty." It was a great experience, and I thank Kat Edmondson and the Sharon Lynne Wilson Center for the Arts.
