At times a bit of a challenge to partake in a single standing leg yoga pose while puppies are nipping at the seam of my socks. At one point, 3 puppies decided to tag team me as I laid flat on my yoga mat. As I attempted to create a calming pose and center myself...the puppies decided they had other plans for me. My hair bun became undone by a puppy tug as I simultaneously almost lost a pearl earring to another puppy. As I laid flat, I gently pulled one of the puppies onto my chest for cuddles and I received a kiss. They had great fun with playing tug of war with my yoga towel. There was a photographer capturing candid shots of us with the puppies. We were offered assistance with taking pictures on our phones. A few of us were handed puppies by one of the puppy assistants. The staff was great with sanitizing any spills from the puppies. Toward the end of the session, I noticed the puppies tired themselves out and were being cradled by a few attendees. Genius idea of puppy yoga!

It…read moreimmediately brought to mind the family's lakeside gatherings, where everyone was impeccably dressed and every dinner felt like an occasion. The restaurant captures that same timeless elegance of the late 1950s. From the moment we walked in, I knew we were in for a special evening. The candle burning in the reception area smelled amazing and set the tone before we were even seated. The service was impeccable, the lake views were gorgeous, and every detail was thoughtfully done. Even the restrooms were beautiful--spotlessly clean with elegant wallpaper, vintage-inspired furnishings, and even a mother's room, adding to the nostalgic 1950s flair. Now, let's talk about the food. Start your evening with a Boulevardier--it just sounds elegant, and it certainly tastes the part. Pair it with the fully loaded shrimp and crab bisque for a fantastic start. For your entrée, order the filet Oscar with asparagus and whipped potatoes accompanied with additional sides of hen-of-the-woods mushrooms and candied carrots. I also enjoyed an Infante with my filet, and it was the perfect complement to the meal. And whatever you do, don't skip dessert. The rhubarb dessert was the perfect ending--creamy, crunchy with a light meringue topping, and filled with tart rhubarb that balanced every bite. If you're looking for a place where Lake Country celebrates life's special moments, The Commodore is it. With impeccable service, stunning lake views, timeless 1950s-inspired elegance, and exceptional food, it's an experience as much as it is a meal. Make a reservation--you won't be disappointed.

We were genuinely excited to try The Commodore, as we are big fans of several other Bartolotta…read morerestaurants. The setting was beautiful, and the food itself was very good. Unfortunately, the service and follow-up were disappointing. We were not initially offered a wine list, and when we asked about ordering wine for the table, our server assumed we wanted individual glasses. The menu also referenced a soup of the day and dessert of the day, but we had to specifically ask what they were rather than having them explained to us. The biggest issue occurred when we ordered four desserts for the table but were charged for seven. I replied to one of the restaurant's follow-up emails explaining our experience and requesting contact from a manager. I received a quick response saying my message had been passed along, but more than a week went by without hearing from anyone. I then called the restaurant directly, provided my information again, and was told a manager would contact me and address the overcharge. Another week has now passed, and I still have not been contacted or refunded. I really dislike leaving negative reviews, and I gave the restaurant multiple opportunities to resolve the issue privately. While we will likely continue visiting other Bartolotta restaurants, we probably will not return to The Commodore. It is unfortunate because the food was good and the setting was truly 10/10, but the lack of follow-through has overshadowed the experience.

Facility: ***** Atmosphere: *****…read moreParking: ***** Food and Spirits: can't rate full menu Staff: ****1/2 We have been here twice for a fund raising event so the review is about our experience for that and not a wedding which I would assume is the bulk of their clientele. For your event, what are you trying to do and have? Overall our experience as a guest was very good. Lots of off street parking, clean and well kept building, professional staff, and good heavy appetizers. From a services perspective it was good not great and here's why. The table staff was great but the bar staff was overwhelmed both last year and this year so in that perspective it was consistent year to year. Our event had almost 309 people. A larger event. The bar is nicely designed U shape to provide guests plenty of space. There were two bartenders and both years it was a tremendously long wait to get a drink. I've had experience working in this industry and bartended and I was trained to watch who walks up next to better serve the guest who is next. That didn't happen last year. This year our group decided to form a line so that it was fair. We stood in line for 20+ minutes to get our first drink. In terms of business, saving a third bartenders wages over selling more drinks and providing faster service is not a good model. Otherwise the staff was wonderful, accommodating and friendly. Again our food was heavy apps so difficult to give a review on the quality of their menu but what we had was good. Chicken skewers, cheese, sausages and veggie spanakopita. Wine selection was average but that's the type of selection you get here but the price for a glass or bottle was fair for the quality of wine. Fully stocked bar and they even concocted a drink for us and part of the profit for that drink went to the fund raiser which was nice. Overall , it was very nice and if you are looking for a banquet hall for a large party you should check them out. To me it is comparable to (former) Country Springs or Western Lakes but perhaps a notch below. Above The Loft of Cedar Ridge. So hopefully that gives you an idea. Next time I will post more pictures and update my experience.

I will say that Amy, the Manager was easy to work with, very responsive to the bride and her staff was A+. So many people complemented us on the food, it was incredible, everyone loved it. This past May we got our Mother's Day meal from Tuacan Hall catering, delicious, I would recommend. And in March we bumbed into Amy at a pre-covid event, my husband and I said hello to her and right away, she knew who we were and mentioned our daughter's name and wedding date. A nice benefit of working with Tuscan Hall is they have trusted vendors that they will recommend for photography, flowers, DJ sevice, etc. It makes those decisions much easier.

I attended this event Saturday after receiving a complimentary pass for attending the Inside Eats…read morepanel discussion earlier that day. I learned that Wine & Dine Wisconsin was in it's 5th year, but I could swear that I attended more than 5 years ago, maybe it was a similar event with a similar name at the same venue, or it was reinvented, or maybe I was there 5 years ago (likely). I can tell you that I never went back because the event had more wine than food and I wasn't wowed by any of it. Plus the layout of the event seemed to encourage bottle necks. What is it about a row of tables that makes a large crowd feel obligated to start at the first table and form a line moving table to table? So instead of multiple lines perpendicular to each table, allowing a person to choose which lines he/she wants to stand in, there is just one LONG, agonizingly slow moving line because the people who never get out have to stop and make friends with the people working the table and talk about how the item reminds them of their daughter's wedding or a vacation they went on. Nobody cares! Just keep moving. I spent most of my time in line and did not get my money's worth, which was $45 or $50 at the time, if I remember right. That was the event that I remember. This event was NOT that, at all. The floor plan for this event was brilliant, IMHO. There wasn't even a pattern for me to travel up and down aisles or starting at an outer perimeter and moving toward the center. It seemed random, which I loved! There were no more than two tables side by side at any point on the floor. Traffic flow moved well, except for two areas. The cheese islands had the continuous line of people moving station to station, but there were several cheese islands so that helped. I didn't go to any of them because of the aforementioned line of slow moving herds. The other area where traffic did not move well was the chili cook-off area. There were six participants and of course everyone started at the first table and the line formed behind them and got really long and hopeless. So I skipped to table 4, where there was NO LINE because the people at tables 1-3 were chit-chatting. I hit tables 4-6 with no wait, then went back and found a gap at table 2 between chatty chili eaters, then grabbed a sample from Table 3 and called it a day. Sorry Table 1, I couldn't get to you and I was not willing to wait for 30-35 people to pass through before I could. I voted for the chili from Table 6. Rant completed. I feel better now. So, there was beer, wine, spirits, and food. If that's not a party, than I don't know what is. I only visited a small number of beer, wine, and spirit vendors because I still had my nephew's 21st birthday party that night, and I'm a responsible adult (mostly). I specifically looked for beers I've never tried before, and was able to find a handful. There was a large section called "The Best of Belgium" or something to that effect. I got excited! I love Belgian beers. Then I noticed the Stella Artois signs everywhere and realized that was probably all they were serving. Stella Artois has a brilliant marketing department. I don't think that beer even slightly embodies a Belgian beer, but the light beer drinkers love it, so more power to them. I want nothing to do with it. Central Standard Distillery was serving samples of three of their craft cocktails. LOVE that idea. Getting away from sampling straight alcohol and instead offering up craft cocktail (the latest hot trend in the industry) samples is a nice change of pace. Great Lakes Distillery may have been doing the same, but I'm already familair with their products, so I skipped that booth. There were three stages with chef demos, drink demos, and other cooking related presentations. I stopped at the Chef's Stage to watch Chef Michael Feker. He's very passionate about what he does and has a fun personality, so he puts on a great show! This was no exception. He made a squash soup and we each received a delicious sample. My favorite part of the day was visiting the Critics Choice area. This area featured food samples from Carol Deptolla's Top 30 restaurants. Most were there, but not all. The food samples were great for the most part, and the area also offered beer and wine samples. Guests attending the main event needed to purchase a separate $30 ticket to this area. To be honest, I probably would have just paid the $30 to attend this area and called it a day. $65 for the main event and $30 for Critics Choice brings you up to $95! Was it worth it? The Critics Choice area for $30, I say yes. The main event for $65? I say probably, especially if you go there to try EVERYTHING. I wasn't there to try everything, nor did I want to attend every presentation. I can see that valuation, but it's hard to drop $95 on any event. Based on my experience this year, I will at least CONSIDER going & buying tickets next year. So mission accomplished, W&D WI!
