Yay Normandian buckwheat crepes! I nod to Scott D, also a San Franciscan, for also reviewing this…read moreplace - Normandy-style crepes were a big thing in San Francisco for quite a few years (so sad to see you go, Ti Couz). So, with my SF-given knowledge that there was such a thing as Normandy crepes, I came here for my first crepe in the real deal Normandy itself!
This place was great, but casual. It's probably best for lunch! For dinner, it works, but doesn't quite feel right unless you're trying to get something quick.
The crepes are great. They're bigger than normal crepes, and heavier. La Ficelle provides an excellent array of fillings - pick from a list of 20! Or you can just choose your own. The crepes themselves taste almost like potato pancakes, especially the crispy edges. It's about 6€ for one crepe, and that's almost enough for a meal, but getting a salad is probably a good idea if you're hungry and/or want dietary balance.
I definitely recommend this place for anyone wondering how crepes are done in this part of the world!
