Look good though. I'd come back no problem and recommend it too..

The service is exceptional, the selection of drinks is pretty good, and the food in the restaurant is marvelous. Like many community pubs it doesn't look like much from outside, but the place is fairly elaborate and its rough, dark wood décor exudes the atmosphere of real local history. The range of hand-pumped real ales is far above average for St. Ives, and unlike many other establishments in the town it is not affiliated with or owned by St. Austell Brewery. As a result the beer selection offers real variety. They offer live music events on a regular basis, and it is one of those places where locals and tourists mix. Recommended.

They serve very reasonable priced beer from a Penzance brewery, that I have never come across anywhere else. I thought the regular bitter was top notch, but then the 'potion 9' was a 10! There were some other interesting looking beers there too...I could have stayed a lot longer. Doesn't serve food, doesn't need to....if you get peckish there is a fish and chip shop just a few doors down. The local bus goes right past..that is really the only way to get here.

It is a bit of a hike from the station, but it was worth it, especially as it is a really old pub (though the ceilings are low, so watch out if you are tall like me). Yeah, this pub is very British, and pretty awesome, but I came here because of the name (and there is a story behind it as well).

It did change names to the appallingly bland 'New Inn' at one point, but has the old name back now. They also believe the pub is haunted. The pub itself is a very nice dark woody old style looking pub with quite a low roof (I has to duck slightly). They serve a handful of good Cornish ales and have a few tables outside, where you take in the sun weather permitting. The do food but I had already eaten. In short, this was the kind of pub I was hoping to find in Cornwall.

Ah The Watering Hole ! Where do i even begin with this gem of a place?…read more I only visit this place once a year and it never ever disappoints. As 30 members of the family descend upon Cornwall every year during the May Half-Term break, the one place we (the males of the group) look forward to visiting the most is without a doubt The Watering Hole. At that time of the year the Cornish weather appears sub-tropical to the Northern weather we have been brought up to hate. So what better way to spend an afternoon than sitting outside at the UK's only beach bar after a day in the waves with a cold pint (okay a lot more than a pint) of Peroni? The view is second to none & the bar has a relaxed, surfer atmosphere that wouldn't look out of place on a beach in Sydney. The pub grub is tremendous with a special mention to 'The Watering Hole Burger' which consists of anything you could possibly wish for. If you ever find yourself down in Cornwall and fancy a day on the beach followed by a few drinks and some food, i couldn't recommend this place anymore. 6 weeks & counting until this years trip.
