We tried the lobster roll and it was sorely lacking. A single roll and 1/8th of a glass of wine, about 60 bucks and minuscule . We ended up like one of the other recent reviews, going elsewhere to eat after. The wine pour was the smallest I've ever had, made even more pitiful by the giant glass. My husband and I could barely taste the lobster, even with the small hot dog bun. Try something else if you come here. The salad is mostly greens, cheapest side possible. I really wanted to like this place but in the end, was so disappointed. Do NOT get the crab cakes. I should have listened to the previous reviewers. They are extremely small and very salty. Definitely not worth $35. The salad that came with it was terrible with clumps and clumps of dried cranberries making it way too sweet and I also had something hard in it which was like biting on a small stone, could've been a piece of shell? Not sure. Very unpleasant. I'm giving this place two stars for the mussels, which we liked and our server. This place is over-rated and I will not be returning. read more

Wow! What a delicious experience we had at The Freight Shed. My husband got the grilled cheese and chowder while I got a lobster roll. We made sure to share both since we heard such great things. We were not disappointed! The grilled cheese was one of the best I've ever had! The sweet and savory of the combo was on point. Our first night here, stopped in at The Freight Shed and sat at the bar, plain sight of the Chef. Hygiene habits of Chef and Staff were great, very happy to see that. Just ok. Salmon was good but portion was very small. Service was very slow. We had a new waitress who was sweet, however she had never made drinks before and needed more instruction. We sent a couple drinks back and manager refused for us to order something simpler. We were not given new drinks, just a gin and ton with a club soda on the side and an aperol spritz with very little changed. . Two drinks were Left on the table untouched. When you see gin and ton on the menu you would assume ton means tonic. They make this drink with club soda...that was their story. read more

Who knew Banneck had a restaurant with gourmet food. Casual environment, but five star food! Loved the grilled cheese with jalapeño havariti, Brie and apricot jam. Amazing seafood chowder and side Cesear salad. If you are in the neighborhood, you really should check it out. read more

Cosmopolitan menu for the region, friendly service. Very good chowder, up there with the best we've had in NS. We didn't have a seafood main (needed a break from seafood for one meal), but the gourmet grilled cheese was an over the top celebration of way too much melted cheese and crispy bread. My only complaint was the salad had too much sweet things added; candied walnuts and raisins and a sweet dressing. Good Sangria (not too sweet). read more

The mussels were fresh and flavorful, the crab cakes delightful and the seafood chowder the best we tried and we tried it at six different places. Nice little restaurant that had been recommended and had a lot of reviews on yelp that we're favorable. We went in for lunch and waited 20-25 min to be seated. I ordered the scallops plate and my husband ordered a lobster roll, it took 50 minutes to get our food. We had just told our waitress that we couldn't wait any longer and wish to leave but she pleaded that our plate was just coming out. Note that it was not exceptionally busy I don't understand what took so long really, almost an hour. The scallops were prepared nice and they were delicious not a large quantity and slightly season. My husband's lobster roll was good but exceptionally small The highlight of his meal was the salad and it was exceptional and taste preparation and size. We waited an hour for a table to become available, and another hour after we ordered for our food to arrive. this place is seriously understaffed. The food however was good. We were in town to drive the Cabot Trail. The Freight Shed's chowder is excellent with plenty of shellfish filling up the bowl. Halibut with walnuts and cranberries was the night's special.
