Dropped into the Saturday 9am class. Facility is spacious and well equipped with everything you could ever want. Think multiple Bike, Ski, Row, Trueform, Ropes, DBall, and much much more. Coach and owner, Danielle is fantastic. It's obvious how much love and care she has for her members and the gym. Community is amazing and welcoming. I've been doing CrossFit for 7 years, coaching for 2, and have dropped into 50+ gyms in every corner of the country. CrossFit Pacific Coast was by far the worst experience I've ever had as a drop-in. "Coach" Chance was arrogant, and disinterested in welcoming us to the gym or introducing himself. He also took no attempt in helping my travel companion learn the day's olympic lift or providing a reasonable scaling option/alternative. Once the workout started, Chance actually walked outside of the gym (wtf right?) and had a conversation with someone out on the sidewalk for the duration of the 20min AMRAP. Complete disregard for the coaching craft, and pretty negligent from a safety perspective. Once the workout was over, he let us know about the overpriced $30 dollar drop in fee and waved us goodbye. Overall, the gym is a phenomenal space in a great location. Clean, new equipment and spacious. Coach Chance is a joke and I'm not sure where CFHQ went wrong with letting this kid get his L-1. read more

I found Gravitas in 2015, and knew from the moment I walked in and met them I wouldn't have to look any further. Gravitas Fitness has evolved over the years; it has changed its name from CrossFit Pacific Coast and has even changed ownership. But what's special and unique about this place is the consistency in character and integrity that it has maintained throughout its evolution, and its ability to attract more of the same. It was this integrity and genuineness that first attracted me to become a member, and keeps me coming back (even though I live in San Diego now)! The ownership, coaches, and members are all genuine, positive, and truly "walk their talk", and I've become a better person through my participation in the workouts, annual challenges, and special events here. Any gym can train you physically, but not many have the ability to challenge you to become the best version of yourself that you can be, nor do most gyms have their own "Ambassador of Sparkle" .... and for all this, I highly recommend Gravitas Fitness!! read more

This is a snap-judgment review based on my one visit to CrossFit Pacific Coast, this morning. I went in this morning for an initial consultation with one of the owners, Traver - really nice guy who obviously loves his work. He does a consultation to tell you about the CrossFit philosophy and get an idea of your fitness level. Everything is informative, fun and low-pressure. Workout like you mean it. I've been to gym's my entire life and spent most of my time hanging out by the drinking fountain. This place is totally different... Like anyone, there is a certain anxiety about joining a new gym. Thoughts, they go through your head... Will the people at the gym be staring at me because I don't know what i am doing? Does this place house a bunch of unfriendly meat heads? And then of course, will they have a nice drinking fountain that I can get a drink at? No, No, No, No... Hands down, the friendliest people, the best instruction and the most caring owners you could ever imagine. Before this gym, I had never done any olympic style lifting. Yes, of course I had read the articles about how good it is for you and how safe it is when done correctly. This has been one of the funnest journeys, being taught the correct way to do this kind of a lift. Traver and Eric really break down the mechanics of how to teach each of these lifts. They start newbies like me out with a plastic pvc pipe. It weighs about 1lbs. Not only is this safe it is forgiving if you make any kind of errors. The enjoyable part is that Eric and Traver make the gym feel like your part of a family. They take part of helping each member and treat them like a treasure. I was sick and they helped me recover, they go out of their way to make sure each member feels important. This is the best run gym I have ever been a part of in my 21 years of holding different gym memberships etc... If your considering it DO IT! Give this gym a try, you will be happy you did. I don't even know where to begin for the ways that CPC has changed my life. Mid 30's (shhhh, don't tell anyone), and I am in the best shape I've ever been. I joined to enhance my performance as a runner, but never anticipated I would love it so much (I, traditionally, HATE the gym). And running? Forget it! I'm blowing my race PRs out of the water, all thanks to the constantly challenging and interesting programming at CPC. Probably more impactful than just the physical benefits (which friends are constantly complimenting me on), CPC has taught me that I am capable of achieving way more if I push through my own mental blocks/doubts. I know these aren't words that most folks would associate with CrossFit, but I can honestly say it's been life-changing for me in Mind, Body AND Spirit. But the very best part of CPC is the community. Hands down. I love being around and am truly inspired by my fellow CPCers who are like-minded, passionate people - that I can now call friends. It all starts with Eric and Traver, whose passion and dedication for their work fuels the fun, active energy that connects this amazing group of people. I was very hesitant to try crossfit. Im older, I don't like gyms, and Im introverted. I knew I needed to change it up or I wasn't going to get back in shape again. I had to stop running due to a foot injury and have been feeling pretty unfit over the past few years so I decided to try Gravitas. Initially I was pretty intimidated, but Eric made an effort to reach out and encourage me. No pressure. Ultimately I decided to try some personal coaching before I attempted to jump into group classes. Dani is seriously the BEST coach!! She looks amazing (which is super motivating) but she's also just really genuine and down to earth and totally knows what she is doing. She explains everything and never makes you feel like the newb you are...(AND she's really funny!!) I'm not sure if I would have followed through with this gym if it hadn't been for Dani. I look forward to every workout even though I still don't really know what Im doing. She just makes it fun. Im also getting fit again! I am sore everyday and I already feel stronger than when I started. My confidence is up. I highly recommend Gravitas, but especially Dani - she's exceptional!! read more

CPC is a great gym. I've worked out at a lot of different gyms over the years, but CrossFit Pacific Coast is top notch! The quality comes from the owners Eric and Traver. These guys are great coaches who run their gym very well. There is a lot of purposeful, intelligent program design, which makes all the difference. These guys are skilled, and knowledgeable and have put together a great team of coaches. I really like the support of the members, it always feels like people supporting each other instead of competing against each other. In my experience any organization reflects the culture set by the owners/leaders, and both Eric and Traver have done a fantastic job of creating a supportive community of athletes encouraging each other. 4 months ago I was looking for a activity I could fit into my lunch hour. Through a co-worker, I heard about Crossfit Pacic Coast. I had never been a member of a gym so the idea of being coached through a work out to avoid injuries and learn proper form was very appealing to me. I have always been very active outdoors on the weekends, but wanted something to fit into my week days. I was looking for an activity and found a new lifestyle. The coaches work you hard. They push people to challenge themselves, but there's no sense of disappointment if you have to scale down a workout, as long as you keep moving and give it all you have. And believe me you will! Everyone is very supportive and ready to cheer on another person's accomplishments. 4 months ago I really thought I was in good shape, however, after one class I saw that this was fitness at whole different level. Dropped in for a morning session at 0700. Was greeted by other members while waiting for the earlier group to finish. Coach Tom qualified my experience, and walked through some of how the box works, signed the waiver and away we went. Drop in session was great as Tom worked to maintain good form and technique for everyone of all abilities. Box had a nice layout and the vibe was not over stimulating or overbearing. Seemed to have a focus on fitness and nutrition. Super clean and well organized. Nice overall experience and would highly recommend for travelers to the area. read more

Never liked working out until I started at Gravitas/CPC...actually didn't really like it the first couple of months. Lots of new movements as well as very positive people encouraging me...it was kinda strange coming from the gym experience I was used to. I bought a drop-in package for Crossfit Pacific Coast last week since I was visiting Santa Barbara for a few days and am SO glad I did! First and foremost, Traver and all the coaches were so incredibly friendly, nice, and welcoming. Traver remembered my name all week which was very surprising and super nice! The box itself is very clean and open. Great box. Came here for business trip and swung by Pacific Coast the evening I arrived and met Traver the owner. Very warm and welcoming and the class was about halfway through. He invited me to check it out the next day and I went to the 7am class. There were eight of us and the WOD was the Karen. 150 wall balls as fast as you can. Great group of people, great instructor, great workout. Highly recommend this place. read more

Hands down the best CrossFit box in the world! Okay, I have only been to 3. But my almost 3 years at CPC was the most amazing experience in my life. Best coaches EVER. Incredibly knowledgeable, loving, caring, charismatic, passionate, enthusiastic; I could go on forever. The community is definitely outstanding. So much love and support. You always have people screaming at you to push harder (yes, that's a good thing for those of you unfamiliar with the CF world). Even if you're new or a visitor, you get great treatment and you're treated like one of the OG's. I was in town from SF and wanted a hard-core workout. I took a class with Eric and was blown away. It was wonderful to see the camaraderie of the group. They seemed to all know each other and enjoy taking class together. And I love how personal and results focused everyone is. My bod is still sore (in a great way). I really love these workouts. Though I'm always intimidated during the first five minutes of knowing absolutely nothing about what we're doing (this is all new to me), I quickly feel right at home. The trainers are super friendly and always give us newcomers extra attention. The workouts are over as fast as they started; I'm never bored and always enjoy myself. Best gym in Santa Barbara! The coaches are outstanding. Every class has mobility and skills work in addition to the killer WOD/"Workout of the Day". If you haven't tried Crossfit, this is a great gym to join. They give a free baseline test and introduction session. Working out at Crossfit Pacific Coast is something I honestly look forward to every single day. Traver and Eric are two of the nicest guys you'll ever meet, and when you are doing a workout with the other crossfitters and being coached by them, there is an amazing energy in the room that no other gym or trainers have. I've been working out in gyms and with trainers for over 10 years, rarely did I feel sore or see any results, because I didn't push my self or even know what pushing my self was, until I joined Crossfit Pacific Coast. Now I push my self, I'm doing things I never thought I could, and best of all is it is actually fun and exciting, and I see results! Everyday you do something different, the workouts are constantly varied, and they work every part of your body. It's nice to finally workout with people who are pushing it, working their hardest, and still take the time to encourage others. Crossfit Pacific Coast pairs workouts scaled to your fitness level with coaches that are knowledgeable and fun to be around. The facility is the perfect size, with an indoor workout area, outside lot for outside work, changing room, and shower. The equipment is new and well maintained, and there is plenty of natural lighting. Having the beach two blocks away helps bring in that ocean breeze as well! The coaches (Traver and Eric) know their stuff. They are not only great motivators, but are willing to put themselves in the mix and workout with you. Both of them provide constant pointers on form and technique while pushing you to try your hardest. The workouts aren't easy but that's the whole point: hard work pays off with great gains! The environment at Crossfit Pacific Coast is supportive, competitive, and fun. Workouts are done as a group, but class size is small. CPC is an amazing place to workout. The workouts are hard, but doable. The people are absolutely amazing and supportive. I came into the gym not quite sure if I could do many of the workouts and Traver and Eric put me immediately at ease. While I am constantly challenged in every way, the coaches and the other people working out cheer you on, support you, and keep you going. I've been to a lot of gyms, and I can honestly say that this has been the best experience to day.
