    Cold onion rings

Awful awful awful. Absolute chaos. Food was terrible. Wrong burger which was dry chicken. Onion rings were cold from a box. Pepsi was flat. Worst airport restaurant ever

Stopped in here for some food while waiting on a connecting flight. Pretty big restaurant, so plenty of seating. Walk in and seat yourself. You have two options: download the restaurant app and order and pay from the app or look at the menu and then walk to the bar to place your order and pay. The food is very quick ! If you are in a hurry, no worries, you will be in and out fast. I ordered the mushroom risotto and added grill chicken. They did forget my grill chicken, but quickly fixed it once I mentioned it to one of the employees walking around. You don't really have a designated server, so if you need anything you just ask someone. The food was okay. I think is was pretty much typical food from an airport. I did have a strawberry cider that was SO good. I highly recommend you try that cider !

My first stop in the London-Gatwick airport in preparation for our 8 hour layover. The pub has tons of tables all around and servers here are nice and quick in serving drinks and food. Nothing overly special about this place but definitely adequate for a place to chill and waste as much time as possible. They got their beers and pub food selections. Seat yourself and note the table number. Order food and drinks at the bar. The servers will arrive at your table with the food once prepared. I got the cottage pie to satisfy my hunger. This dish can be shared between at least two people but I of course got it for just myself and annihilated the whole thing. For pub food in the airport, I found it quite satisfactory. The pie came out piping hot. The potato on top was hot and soft with a nice crunch on the edges. The beef inside was super tender and full of that beef stock flavor. Overall, a good first meal at Gatwick.

I had a long layover at Gatwick airport and after being hugely disappointed by Jamie Oliver's Diner, I stumbled into the flying horse. Pros: the bartenders were very helpful and friendly. I mentioned I had a soy allergy and wanted to check on the ingredients in the veggie and vegan burger. the bartender was so helpful that he retrieved a allergy binder with all allergy ingredients in each meal item. I'm very particular with what I eat and the bartender very patient and able to answer my questions. The Christmas decor was beautiful and gave a very homely vibe. I especially loved the ceiling design and the wine display against the wall. Cons: not all the unoccupied tables were clean. The food was very bland, nothing special in regards to taste but it filled a need.

Weatherspoon's "Flying Horse". Gatwick Airport South Terminal.

My go to spot when passing through Gatwick's South Terminal. Weatherspoon's "Flying Horse" is always hustling and bustling so finding a table can sometimes be an issue. Typical English bar set up, order your food and drink at the bar, give them your table number, and your food will be brought to you, no wait/table service here. Food options are plentiful with all sorts of options. I usually find myself there in the morning and will normally go with a final full English breakfast and a couple of beers before heading back to the States. There's always a lively buzz to the place, lots of drinking going on, as is typical with airport bars, (regardless of the time of day) and just a happy sense in the air as excited holiday travelers await their flights. Reasonable prices for an airport and the food is always more than satisfactory.

With a layover at Gatwick we stopped in The Flying Horse for lunch. So glad we did....this place is great. Grab a table, check out the menu, then belly up at the bar to order....but don't forget your table number. They need that to bring your food. We had the Bangers and Mash and Fish and Chips plates. Both were MORE than enough! I am sure if you really wanted....you could share a plate. My Bangers were perfect laying on a bed of mash dripped in gravy with mushy peas. The fish covered the whole plate while partnered with chips and mushy peas. The chips were just right....crunchy on the outside yet soft on the inside. I partnered my lunch with a extra large Stella! Of course the prices are a bit higher due to being in airport....so worth the money. If you have a layover at Gatwick and are in the South terminal....stop in for some great British pub food.

Ordered the fish and chips which was the best I have had. I am from the States, though, so it's usually hot and miss over there. Mostly miss.

Haha, what's more unlikely at 4am than a flying pig? A flying horse of course I've flown out of Gatwick South terminal several times recently. Impressively, the restaurants are open, even at that bleak early hour of the morning Besides McDonalds, the other restaurants seem to have set up a cartel with the cooked breakfasts suspiciously all costing exactly the same. The only place to break ranks is the Flying Horse The Flying Horse is a pub, which means that you can have a breakfast beer and yes, I did see people drinking beer here at 5am. I however stuck to freshly squeezed orange juice. Nice to see an orange squeezing machine in a pub After seating yourself, food and drink is ordered at the bar. They guarantee to deliver the food in ten minutes, which is impressive for cooked to order food My sister ordered the eggs royale, which is egg Benedict but with smoked salmon instead of ham. The poached egg was perfect, reflecting impressive attention to detail My American breakfast was a nice mixture of savoury elements and pancakes. The only slight disappointment was the lack of real maple syrup Recommended for breakfast if you're flying out of Gatwick South

The Flying Horse is a bit of a mixed bag. The good points are the quick (perhaps a bit too quick..) service, large seating area and the excellent beer. The latter is worth emphasising - Gatwick Airport is the last place I'd expect to enjoy a pint of mellow, fruity real ale for £2.99, yet thanks to the Flying Horse, that's exactly what I was able to do! The not-so-great points are the price and quality of the food. To be fair, the prices are not outrageous, just slightly higher than your standard Wetherspoons and with no deals (e.g. beer and burger) to help you out. But the quality ain't great. The warning of what I could expect was there when I was told that my chicken burger would be ready in just 5 minutes, rather than a time (say 15-20 minutes) during which I could at least kid myself that they'd be cooking it from fresh. When it did arrive, it was lukewarm: time considerations meant I had to grimace my way through rather than send back. Still, the taste of that excellent pint lingered long after. I'd definitely be back for another one, though I'd probably go elsewhere for food.

I like this place and I am here frequently. Nice place to sit and talk, nice people here. I always say think global, drink local, so I always try the local beers here (after finishing themeetings during the day of course). Also some really good food in an interesting mix. I also like the salads here. This is a good point to meet with friends and colleagues in a good athmosphere.

Never been in her before, even with the amount of times I have been through Gatwick airport, and I won't be back. The service was ok the staff at the bar where you order were polite, as you would expect, but the place has the look of a wetherspoons but does not meet their standards. The food was delivered quickly, a little too quickly, as my eggs Royale struck me as Loki g a bit sad and made me wonder how long this particular plate had been sat under heat lamps. One egg still had a bit of yolk the other was dried up, I would suggest from the time it spent under afire mentioned heat lamp. Whilst I'm all for quick turn around of food when you are at an airport please let's at least cook it to order not cool and hope someone wants it eventually. Unfortunately the server asked me if my food was alright before I had tucked in properly to my lightly toasted toad and soft boiled eggs!! There are many other eateries at Gatwick south this was a day when I thought I'd try somewhere I've not eaten before. Not my best plan especially when the next 3 hours will be spent on a flight which sells its food to you.

Fish and Chips with pea mash.

Really wanted Fish & Chips for some strange reason. Was told that all the restaurants in the Gatewick Refugee Camp (holding area for pre-flight boarding) had fish and chips but a local airport worker told me the best was at The Flying Horse. When I asked her why theirs was special she said, "because it comes with pea mash." Being an American I could only guess what pea mash was but I decided to go with it. Wow! Glad I did. Strongly recommend you go here. Get the p Note: You seat yourself at this place then you go to the counter and order. Place a reserved sign on your table to save your place while you order.

Getting in a little late to go to London, we turned our attention to something close to the Gatwick airport. After finally sorting our Uber rides, we were off to The Farmhouse. First impressions were of a traditional British pub experience, which was a good start. Our clumsiness of grabbing a table and figuring out whether we needed to go to the bar to order or wait to be served, surely gave us away as "not locals." Our server was friendly and provided us with our menus and took our drinks order. The one shortfall was that the menu had a number of items not available and with an assist from a customer, two of us needed a rethink on their meal. In all, it was 4 Fish & Chips, One Farmhouse Burger, and a Battered Halloumi burger, plus an order of calamari, and 4 tomato and garlic soups. There were zero plates taken off the table that were not empty! I had the Halloumi burger, which had a great, crispy batter topped with some guacamole mayo with a red sauce on the side. Really good. Then we doubled down and hit the dessert menu! Two warm chocolate brownies with salted caramel ice cream and four plum tarts. We asked for some custard on the side because who doesn't like custard?! Save for the debate about whether it was more a pie than a tart, another set of empty plates were the only evidence left. Would definitely recommend The Farmhouse!

We had been traveling all day and two of the three of us were very sore and all of us were exhausted. We had no car and our hotel restaurant was over priced, and previous experience with food at other hotels convinced us not to even try to eat the over priced items at the hotel. An English friend back in the US had recommended we eat at Weatherspoon's pubs, which share common ties to the Weatherspoon management, but go by unique names under the Weatherspoons brand. Weatherspoons branded pubs can be found by Googling Weatherspoons or by checking the company website, which will give you the unique names of all of the Weatherspoons near your location. They are all over the UK. We ate at four Weatherspoons in our trip, and they were all good. They are all pubs. Instead of a server taking your order at your table, you pick a table, decide what you want, then order and pay at the bar and they deliver your food at the table. There seems to be a standardized menu, but it seems that some have bigger menus than others, but the pub operational procedures, quality control and core menu offerings seem to be standardized within the brand. We did not see obvious tourists at any of the Weatherspoons, so the prices are not artificially inflated and the food is not a caricature of what people in the UK eat. They open for breakfast and are open until late at night. You can eat full meals there, including the classic English breakfast as well as the classic American breakfast. Pizza was available at at least three of the four we ate at. There is exceptional variety in the menu. At this particular Weatherspoons, called Jack Fairman, I had the small fish and chips. It was NOT overbreaded or greasy, it was delicate, cooked until just flaky but not overdone. The fish tasted fresh. It was very very tasty. They had a big binder that gives nutrition and allergy information for every single item on the menu, which was very helpful for a member of our traveling party who has two food allergies. Just request the allergy binder. The pub is well decorated with relaxing, casual ambience. There is a fireplace mantle with easy chairs by it that look very cozy and inviting. Everyone there seemed to be having a relaxed time together as if they were visiting with friends in their own homes. The bartender was very congenial and warm; service was quick and accurate. We were very very pleased to find out that this exact Weatherspoons was like a second home to our English friends, a place where many many family meals and celebrations took place when they lived in Crawley England. They were thrilled when we told them where we had eaten. Jack Fairman's restored our sanity and group morale at the end of an exhausting trip to Europe that was not actually a vacation, and was really quite stressful. We left with very fond feelings for this place because we were so exhausted and upset when we arrived-- and we left fully relaxed and restored. Thank you Jack Fairman's for a wonderful relaxing evening at the end of an extremely difficult day.
