I've rarely seen such attention to detail, and such unusual pairings of blooms from seasonal Dutch and British flowers making the most exquisite bouquets. It isn't the cheapest florist in the world, but these flowers as fairly traded, and if there's one gift I personally think you shouldn't scrimp on, it's well-presented flowers. Another thing that I like about this place is that they make sure to be environmentally friendly, composting out green waste and recycling waste paper and cardboard. And any place that has my favourite cupcakes (from local shop Sweet Tooth Cupcakery) is an absolute winner for me!

I love the cavernous interior with its bear brick walls and flagstone floor and the pots of blooms lined along either side. It gives it a flower market feel despite being undercover. In particular, I love their fresh tulips and gerberas, but in the winter they also offer some gorgeous berry plants, wreaths and firs, in keeping with the Christmas spirit. It most definitely isn't the cheapest florist in Manchester, but it's worth a trip.

And I must say, my flat now looks lovely, and the scent of irises fills the living room. One thing I hate about florists shops, is that they are cramped and overstocked. Not Delia's. This is a cool, calm florist shop, sparsely stocked inside with exposed brick walls that would be more at home in a trendy apartment. These bare settings make it easy to really *see* the flowers, and make a good choice. Not that you can make a bad choice here really, as the flowers are all very very nice. Pricewise, you're going to end up paying around £20 for a bouquet (but I'm sure she's worth it...) but if you're just after some blooms for yer room, a bunch of irises set me back less than £4 today, which is pretty decent. Back in my Didsbury days, a bunch of Delia's flowers lasted a long time, so for that £4, my living room will be brighter and more fragrant for over a week. You get what you pay for, so while Delia may charge a wee bit more than Our Saint Sharron, the flowers are jolly good.

Fleur de Vie tends to produce quite contemporary bouquets. Although I'm sure they could make up something more traditional if you asked, the modern presentation of their flowers makes them something different and just a little bit more special if you ask me. You can expect to pay a little more here than you might at another florist but it's worth it for the quality of flowers you'll receive as well as the stylish and chic presentation. The staff are friendly and are always happy to oblige in creating a bouquet to your specifications. Definitely worth a visit whether you're looking to treat yourself or spoil someone else.

Not Rodgers. Their floor space is dedicated to floral displays from small bunches to more elaborate bouquets. They do sell a few other items such as cards and balloons but nothing that detracts from their main purpose. There's a good selection here and you can choose from a number of pre-made bouquets if you're in a hurry. Otherwise the florist will put something together for you. Weddings, funerals, business events and other special occasions are catered for as you might expect and they have an extensive delivery network. Expect a friendly and reliable service and reasonable prices.
