Since Bandera is a bit of a drive from San Antonio, I decided to make a little day trip out of it. I came across this café and immediately thought it was such a cute spot. Parking was a little tricky, with limited spaces available right in front, but it wasn't a major issue. When I walked in, I was greeted right away by two friendly baristas. I asked for a recommendation and ended up ordering one of their favorites--the Honey Badger. It was delicious and definitely a solid choice. What stood out most to me wasn't even the coffee--it was the atmosphere. The shop felt warm, welcoming, and full of community. There were families and friends catching up, and there was even a dedicated area where kids could play while everyone relaxed. The coffee shop sits above the restaurant below, giving it a cozy, tucked-away feel. After getting my drink, I settled into one of the couches and ended up playing my Nintendo Switch for a few hours. It was one of those rare coffee shops where you feel comfortable lingering without feeling rushed. Overall, if I find myself back in Bandera, I would absolutely stop by again for a coffee and maybe try one of their snacks next time. If you're looking for a cozy place to relax, work, or catch up with friends, Cowgirl Coffee is worth checking out.

The staff working on a Sunday morning or excellent. They were friendly, helpful, and any boss would be happy to have them working for them. The inside is this quaint and cozy area to relax have coffee in a little light breakfast. We both ordered coffees, which were really exceptional. I had a breakfast sandwich with sausage and wish it had a little bit more flavor but overall was good. The eggs and a sausage were just a little bit bland. My wife had a muffin and she really enjoyed, and I enjoyed the blueberry muffin as well.

Coffee, omelet, biscuits and gravy, eggs and German pancake were all great! I highly recommend the biscuits and gravy, and the German pancake. To go we purchased pretzels, cookies and other bakery items. Everything was delicious! We will definitely be back.

NOTES: - Reservations: no... walk in only - Parking: a few spots in front but free street parking nearby as well - Online ordering: available on their website through PopMenu for pickup - Closed Wednesday and Thursday THE HIGHS: - Arrived around 8:00 am on a Sunday morning and got seated right away - Coffee was decent... not the strongest but good enough - Workers were all very nice THE LOWS: - My poached eggs on the Country Benedict were cold... it seemed like they had sat for a while before being served (the sausage and gravy weren't hot either but they at least had a little warmth) - I wanted to get some items from the bakery but after being so disappointed in the breakfast I passed THE PRICE: Reasonably priced for the portion size - 2 Coffees ($3 each) - Country Benedict ($15.25) - Holstein Schnitzel ($18.75) - German Pancake ($6.75) - Opa's Smoked Sausage Link ($5) BEST BITES: - Opa's smoked sausage link (flavorful and juicy) THE VERDICT: This was my first visit to Old German Bakery & Restaurant after seeing it recommended online by so many people but I left wishing I had eaten breakfast somewhere else. Maybe the bakery is better than the breakfast but I won't be recommending it to anyone I know visiting Fredericksburg.
