The front office staff is amazing! It was one of the least stressful lease signings I've gone through, and I've been renting for the past 8 years. The price for the apartment rental can't be beat. However, a few things to point out: the "newly" build gym does not look like the picture. There are 2-3 cardio machine and 1 workout "bowflex" type machine. As soon as I walked in, it was so stuffy I could hardly breathe. Needless to say, I signed up for gym membership at LA fitness across the street. The AC unit is just a standard single unit in the wall. It doesn't cool our litte one bedroom near enough because if left on high cool with their recommended setting at 6-7, the unit itself ices over. The laundry rooms are $1.50 for washer and 1.50 for dryer. However, it takes me 2 dryer cycles to get my clothes dry. Yes, I've tried different dryers, I've tried less clothes. But the default 45 mins to dry just isn't enough. So boo at having to spend 3 bucks to dry each time. Other then that, we are still very happy tenants! read more

4-year resident: Maintenance never comes to repair anything. My tub is literally falling apart and they won't fix it. The whole building smells like food. No one bothers to put the garbage in the actual dumpster so there are raccoons and other pests everywhere in the parking lot. People smoke marijuana in the parking lot at night. you can hear everything through the walls, and even worse through the ceilings. There are NO SECURITY CAMERAS. Packages get stolen every day and you are not allowed to have packages sent to the rental office anymore. They will do nothing about your stolen packages, nor will they let you out of your lease after all of these issues. I chose this place because my mom used to live here, but clearly, it has gone down hill. read more

I have been here for a couple of months. I regret moving in. The manager is not a people person. There was a picnic bench rotting and destroyed off by vandalism inside the fenced in dog park. For approx 6 weeks my husband and I sent emails trying to get it and glass shards from broken liquor bottles removed (emailed her pictures too). All the while we are picking up garbage and dog poo that other residents are leaving. Her emails to me keep getting very rude and we decide to set up a meeting. During this meeting she refused to let me sit in one of her office chairs, even though I told her I am disabled and can't stand ( she knows I am disabled , I have a service dog). There were boxes on her chair she wouldn't move or allow my husband to move. The words "I don't care" came out of her mouth. That is the management at The Flats at Fox Hill. There were nails and glass. I didn't want and kids, tenants or dogs to get injured. I can say this. The next time I see a hazard that can cause someone to get injured and sue The Flats at Fox Hill, I am not going to tell their Manager. She will just yell and shout at you. No one has the right to yell at anyone. And the amount of dog poo around this facility! They don't have anyone picking it up when the tenants don't. And alot of the tenants don't. After being yelled at for asking questions, i will never clean up trash or another dig poo again. And this apartment complex grounds is covered! It is a EPA nightmare. I wouldn't live her knowing what I know. And I am moving as soon as I can. Do not move here! The buildings are infested with mice and roaches. I have myself caught 12 in the apartment I share with a newborn. The dumpsters are always overflowing and the wind blows the trash all over the property. I cant move fast enough. read more

I lived in building 2 at The Flats at Fox Hill for 2 years. There are several pros, but the cons overwhelmed the pros and I was very glad when I left. Pros: -Nice hardwood floors -Nice oven and decent fridge and dishwasher -My corner unit was fairly quiet and had a nice little balcony overlooking a wooded area -Cute little pool -Convenient location--close to Monroeville Mall, Giant Eagle, Target, and this location offers easy access to the turnpike and downtown. -Also, they allow pets. Cons: Dark, dingy hallways that smell overwhelming (in a bad way) at dinner time. Shoddy construction of walls that makes hanging pictures and removing anything stuck to the wall problematic. Pull away one of those 3M hooks attached to the wall with a sticky thing that's you're just supposed to be away to pull away without damaging the wall and you're left with the layer of paint stripped away, the thin layer of plaster stripped away, and a nice brown surface exposed. When I moved out, on the moving out maintenance form it said that holes in the wall were normal and you wouldn't be charged for them. They told us without giving us a reason that we weren't allowed to use the convenient garbage chute anymore, which meant I had to drag my garbage down the hall, two flights of steps, and across a parking lot. Oh, and no elevators in Bldg. 2! I found security to be an issue after a spate of car break-ins of which my sister was a victim. In addition, I literally witnessed a drug deal happen in my hallway, and the stairwells smell strongly like weed. Also, if you have a package delivered, unless it makes its way to the main office, it will be stolen. Even then, I went to pick up a package once from the office, and they literally lost it in the back somewhere. They told me I had no package. Another day my sister went to see if it was there not knowing I had already checked for it, and luckily someone else just happened to find it. When I signed my lease, dogs weren't allowed, but everyone and their mother had a secret dog anyway, and there was one next door in particular that barked at me every single time I went to open or close my own door. I think they gave up and now allow dogs, based on the application on their website. The laundry facilities were small and overpriced; nobody actually did laundry there. When there was a thunderstorm, the electricity would go off and there was no backup generator. As our building was quite old, about once a month they shut off the water for repairs. Sometimes there was a note on the main door warning us, but other times I didn't see any. Sometimes the water would be off for literally the entire day well into the evening. My storage locker was mysteriously all the way at the other end of the building. I believe this was a mistake that nobody ever rectified, but as a small and weak person, it wasn't fun dragging my heavy stuff really far from my apartment. One of the MAJOR problems that I had at the Flats at Fox Hill was maintenance. Maintenance seemed to be inconsistent. Sometimes it was fast and efficient, but other times, not so much. In particular, I had a bee problem. There were wasps in the wall outside my bedroom window, and despite the screen, they were getting in somehow. I called maintenance and they came and sprayed twice, but they apparently didn't do an adequate job because the bees were still there. They finally died off when winter came, but I noticed a few during the summer again. Good luck to whomever moved into my old apartment! It's not fun to reach for your toothbrush and find a wasp on it. Another major maintenance problem I had was the broken fan in the bathroom. It did absolutely nothing, and there was no outside window. The first time I told maintenance about this problem, they painted the mold on the ceiling with something, which did not fix the root problem. When I wrote them a detailed note the second time politely suggesting that the problem was the fan, I saw a maintenance man coming out of my apartment as I was arriving home a few days later, but nothing was ever done about it. Mold could be a major health threat, and it bothered me that they didn't seem to take my complaint seriously. I tried to use a dehumidifier to help ameliorate the problem, but it could only do so much. Finally, there was a broken drawer in my kitchen. A maintenance man "fixed it" the first time, and a day later it broke again. The second time a guy took it away to fix it and brought it back, but again it didn't work. Finally I had my boyfriend--who is a musician and not in any way a professional--take a look at it, and with a few tools, he fixed it in five minutes. Considering all of these issues, I would say at the Flats at Fox Hill is vastly overpriced. If you are simply looking for a convenient place to live for a couple years this may be the place for you, but for someone looking for a long-term place to stay, I wouldn't recommend it. Fox Hill is cheap and, I guess, you get what you pay for. The maintenance is pretty good at fixing things. It's really the front office that's a real pain in the neck. Whenever you have problems, they never want to help and are extremely rude.They are unfair in the way they do things for residents. For example, when assigning storage lockers they made you empty out your lockers with heavy suitcases and storage items and assigned you new ones all the way on another floor in the opposite corner of the building. Since I have a lot of things, going there every time I need something is a serious inconvenience. They promised the lockers would be painted and fixed when you were assigned new ones and instead they were just renumbered coated with ugly blue paint. My new locker has screws poking outward on the inside that are dangerous. In addition, the door doesn't close unless pushed with great force. The gym is a joke and you can't breathe there. Dont pay the 100 dollars for it. There are 3 machines inside a tiny room without windows, which doesn't really constitute as a gym, now does it? There is a TV. But don't get too happy, it doesn't work most of the time. They don't plow snow early enough in the winter and salt the roads too late. The plow usually comes out at 9, sometimes 8am. If you leave for work at 6 am like me, you will have a hard time getting out. ETA: they recently sent out a note that said residents should allow them 48 hours to properly clean snow. ...Am i supposed to call off work for two days every time it snows? The "new" remodeled apt are made with cheap materials. You can hear your neighbors do everything. The people on top of me just have to walk back and forth and I can't sleep. The guy next to me just has to listen to his TV a little loudly and I can hear it. The woman on the other side of me can be heard showering every morning. A final note: Laundry is too expensive. The laundry used to be $1.00 a load. Ever since the new management took over, the machines were raised to $1.50 a load. That annoyed me. Why? Because the dryers never dry properly in one load no matter how small the load is. I take my big laundry to laundromat. Recently, the laundry price was increased to $1.75 for a load. So, now, i have to pay $3.50 for one load of clothes to wash and dry. That's not even all the way true since you almost always have to pay for another drying load. In my opinion, it's a nice place to stay for three months in order to find someplace better. Like I said, the apartments are cheap and you get what you pay for. You've heard the facts. I've never written a Yelp review but the customer service here is not satisfactory whatsoever that I'm motivated to write a post. Every time I email the leasing office a question they do not respond until I persistently follow up. This was an ongoing problem even before I signed my lease (which should have been a red flag). There were extra charges when I first moved in that I wasn't sure what they were for. I had to email a couple different people at the office until I got a response. I had a question about why my account kept saying I was charged late fees (turns out it was fees for gas and water) and again no one followed up with me about that (which I was not surprised about). I try to be nice in my emails at first but I get so frustrated by the lack of response I get angrier in my emails. The list goes on of how many times this has been an issue. Most packages I've had delivered here go missing and the apartment says to email them if that happens but no one will actually respond or do anything. They wouldn't check the cameras when my packages went missing but they were eager to threaten to check the cameras if someone walked on the new stairwells before they were done. I definitely will not be renewing my lease here. The office is closed now due to covid probably because no one in the office ever actually wore a mask. (When Id go down there I would never see anyone in the office wear one) The office being closed makes it even more difficult to get a response. The apartments aren't terrible but you can tell they are kinda low quality. The blinds break, there's no garbage disposal on the kitchen sinks, which are tiny btw and the AC units don't really do much. they are supposed to be redoing the pool for summer but they were also supposed to get the carpeting redone and that still hasn't finished within the five months I lived here so I'm doubtful the pool will have any changes. The neighbors are nice tho and the price is pretty ok for the apartments and the are around is great. It's not a bad place it's mostly the customer service that's been the frustrating part. read more

I've lived here for 18 months. I had cockroaches problem because they were coming up through my sink and shower drains that I had to contact the health department about before they would fix it. They changed the pet policy without telling me about it adding additional money to my rent that I was unaware of as well as giving me rent statements that were wrong and later demanded more money. I was told they were replacing carpet in the building before I even moved in....I've since been here for over a year and there is still old smelly carpet in the halls. The pool is closed all the time because they cant keep it staffed. Last but not least, the are destructive children in the halls constantly. Leaving food & trash, making noise, and defacing property and nobody will address it. The location is amazing but think long and hard about renting a place here, it's just not worth it. read more

Second year....horrible neighbors that were noisy and rude, no investigation of noise complaints no camera to catch the constant stream of people in and out of the neighbors apt. Not a great place to live! It is overpriced and not worth it! The apartments are dirty and not well kept. I found a bottle of something and baby socks underneath the bathroom counters when we moved in. The power has gone out a few times already and there is no backup generator!!! To me this is ridiculous!!! For what we pay, I should not have to sit in the dark and not be able to cook my food! The washing machines are old and ruin your laundry!! The elevators are super slow!! The water pressure in the showers is very weak. We changed our shower head and it still did not help. The floors have paint splatters throughout the entire apartment. And the tile in the kitchen and bathrooms is chipping and the grout gets all over constantly. There are constantly and I mean constantly problems in the building. Recently no hot water for almost week!! Overall, for what they charge for rent and utilities, I recommended looking for a apartment elsewhere. These apartment are not well kept, dirty, no back up generator, OVERPRICED and the list goes on. I currently live here and I like it here. I've been here for several years. The front office staff is nice, laundry facilities, and a safe neighborhood. My apartment is beautiful and the when you need something fixed they come by the next day. They keep the grounds clean and always have people cleaning as well the hallways and other public areas. read more
