In June of 2024, after a lot of research and reassurance by stylist Kara, I entrusted The Fixx Hair Salon, and Kara, to create the hair style that I had been waiting over two years for. My mom worked hard to save the money to give this to me as a birthday present, and I was so excited. I showed Kara very detailed photos of what I was looking for, a natural blonde bailage with smudged root (not stripes), and I also expressed my fear of letting anybody touch my hair, and why. She assured me that she was a Level-5 stylist and that she'd take great care of me. I arrived at 8:00 a.m. Kara knew I had to work a late afternoon shift that day and assured me I'd be well taken care of and out the door in plenty of time. Before this, I'd taken about two years to finish growing out the old color, and getting it back to health after losing some of it to chemo about a year ago. My hair was finally thick, healthy and a NATURAL canvass. All I wanted was a natural blonde bailage, with smudged root, and not the bleached, fried, yellow/white striped, thin mess it became. Kara COMPLETELY ruined my hair! And I'm not exaggerating. When she initially rinsed my hair out after her first attempt, she looked at it and said, "Oh no, I don't like this, it does not look good". There were very harsh lines and white and "yellow" highlights that looked like stripes, and were far from the "natural blonde" color I had requested. Nothing was blended at all, and my hair was already damaged at this point. . In an attempt to fix it, she then put even more blonde in it, a blonde way too bleachy and harsh for my hair, and proceeded to leave it in my hair for over 40 minutes while she was working on other clients! At this point, I started sobbing. Lauren, the owner, walked right by me, looked at me and did absolutely nothing. She didn't even ask what was going on, or show any compassion in the fact that I was clearly upset over that damage that Kara caused, and was continuing to make even worse. As an owner/manager, she did nothing to find out what was going on, or see that she needed to get that stuff out of my hair since Kara had wandered off to work on other clients. Kara also did nothing except let me sit there sobbing while working on two other clients. She didn't even check it herself, she had one of her "non Level 5" assistants poke at it. People were staring at me. I was completely humiliated. The entire 7+ hours I was there, Kara probably did maybe only 20 minutes of the actual job. She truly did not care what she had done to me, and passed me on to someone else so that she could process her other clients who could have waited. My hair was now completely fried. The ends were breaking off in my hands. Kara cut so much out, it was uneven and you could see my neck through my hair! My hair was naturally curly, and Kara cut all the curl out from under my hair, and layered it in a way that I may as well be bald. Furthermore, my hair was almost down to my waist and I only wanted an inch off the length. But because my ends were SO damaged at this time and crisping off, Kara tried to fix it by proceeding to cut several more inches off. As I was leaving the studio (7 hours later), still sobbing, Kara said, "I'll call you tomorrow and we'll get this fixed". Since then, three months later, not one time has anybody reached out, or even apologize to me. Nobody acknowledged how incredibly upset and traumatized I was. I sent a letter to the owner, asking her how she could let this happen, asking if she could get in touch with me, and no response. They probably felt that if they ignored me, I'd just fade away and nobody would speak of this beyond nightmare experience. I even called a few times to follow up and one time she was on vacation, and the next time the person said she was there, but then when they knew what the call was about, they got back on the phone and suddenly she wasn't there that day. After being assured that I'd be taken care of on time, I ended up not leaving the studio so late that I had to call my work and miss my shift. I could not have made it to work on time, let alone show up looking like the way I did. My hair had been destroyed, and my eyes were swollen shut from crying so hard. I had to go to another salon to have them at least "try" to fix this damage, which cost me $350.00, plus extra in products to try to help fix the fried damage. I had to wear my hair up in a claw clip for almost three months before I could wear it down, but to this day, the fried ends are still breaking off, but thankfully, it's slowed down. I do not recommend this studio to anyone, they truly don't care about their customers as you can see from some of the other reviews. I wish I would have see the reviews before I went. read more

I have gone to this salon for 2 years. Ram was fantastic at the beginning, but then started adding in hidden charges and making excuses for sub-standard service. I He became quite arrogant and unprofessional ....when I questioned my color and highlights(color was not what I requested). Bottom line, if you are not happy with his service, he will ask you to finder another colorist. After reading Ram's reply.....I can also add that he is a liar. He never offered to fix any of his mistakes and his clients are left to pay the price....literally. I asked him numerous times to add highlights to my temple area, as I wear my hair back daily. He never took the time to listen to his client. I even showed him pictures of what I would like.....instead he did what he wanted. The whole time talking about all his trips to California and Vegas for "hair classes". The class he needs to enroll in is customer service. And as for Ram's allegation that I "berated" his employees....simply not true. His front desk girl insisted that I did not get highlights at the last appt, when I told her she was incorrect, she became defensive and rude and told me that if I wanted a few highlights added(which were suppose to be included in last appt) I would have to pay an additional $75....on top of the $270 I had just paid! You say my small dogs are an hazard? Really? That's funny.And for the record.....he has a cute dog that is in salon daily.....but sure does bark a lot and runs around under feet....that is a hazard. I got it cut into a mullet after explicitly saying i did not want a mullet. After this figured I was misunderstood or just bad day for a haircut. Went back for a second time with multiple pictures of what i wanted done to my hair. After explaining it again he butchered my hair again and it looked nothing like what I requested. I started going to The Fixx Salon in 2019 when I had a coloring done wrong at a previous Salon my hair was supposed to be highlighted but I walked out with chunks of red, brown, orange and yellow hair on top of it being fried, breaking and spongy, the color was so horrible I cried. I immediately called The Fixx Salon because I heard they were really good at what they do as far as cut, color and fixing other hairstylists mess ups. I talked to the owner Ramiro and he was able to get me in w one of his stylists right away and from the moment I walked into The Fixx Salon they took care of me and made me feel comfortable. It did take time to get my hair healthy again but I owe it to them for taking care of me and educating me from the minor I walked into the salon. It's called the fixx salon because you're going to have to get it FIXXED AFTERWARDS. Came in for a trim, left with damaged hair. To be fair, I was told when booking the appointment that the person cutting my hair would be a student/less experienced person under the supervision of an experienced stylist at a 20% discount. However, there was no supervision for the entirety of the cut save the last 5 minutes. Walking in was there seemed to be no option to get a dry cut. A trim is around $50 (even with the discount). After the wash and being seated the woman doing my hair started brushing it with a paddle brush (instead of a wide tooth comb) from the top to the bottom, effectively tangling my hair and damaging it by pulling it through. For anyone who doesn't know, you're supposed to brush with a wide tooth comb from the bottom to the top to prevent damaging it, when it's wet. Every salon I've been to has done this except this one. After she trimmed my hair and it was time to dry it, she put the hair dryer on heat which would normally be fine if she was using a roller brush to do a proper blowout. Nope just the same paddle brush and with no clear plan on how to dry my hair. No sectioning or clipping hair aside to dry it. Just haphazard brushing across the top of my head with her hand occasionally ruffling it. I might as well have been drying my own hair. It ended up getting tangled in the process so she had to brush it again (top to bottom) breaking my hair again. Then she turned me around so I couldn't see what was happening and about halfway through what I thought was her applying some smoothing product I realized she was straightening my hair. Not even a once or twice times through to straighten but 5-6 times on the same strand. This would have been fine if she had asked for my permission first. My hair was fried. No product was applied after this. At the very end of it all she trimmed my hair again to take the weight off the ends and that's when her coworker (I'm assuming more experienced stylist) started condescendingly asking her questions about the cut instead of guiding her through it. "Why are you doing that." "Why aren't you giving her layers." Not once did the experienced stylist address me about what I wanted. No wonder the girl cutting my hair didn't know what she was doing. Who would want to ask someone snarky for help. When I was paying to leave I had to remind them of the discount because it was never communicated from whoever booked my appointment to who cut my hair that I would be getting one. That might've been why there was no supervision. To conclude, I don't blame the girl cutting my hair. She seemed like the sweetest one in that establishment. But it's obvious that the work environment here is unpleasant (dare I say toxic?) which lead to the clear lack of communication and camaraderie you would normally see at any other salon. This sort of energy would never fly in a bigger city, and looking back I can see why there was only 1 other customer while I was there. My hair is damaged now. If this situation ever happens to you, I recommend going home and rinsing your hair with cold water and applying a hair mask to rejuvenate what you can until you can grow it out again. From now on I'll be cutting my own hair while I'm visiting Las Cruces. read more

Leaving two stars because they were nice. I went in to get my bangs trimmed. I loved the shape they were before I went in, and I told them I just wanted to take a half inch off or just line them up with my eyebrows. I even showed them a picture of what I wanted. They look nothing like when I showed them! They're so blunt and crooked now and I want to cry every time I look in the mirror. The shape is so off and they're uneven. They are great, I had Kayla as my stylist and she did a very good job covering up some nasty box dye I had and giving me a root melt. She did a thorough job, rather than rushing through it like other salons tend to do. For the amount of time spent there I was expecting the price to be even more than it was. I had been told by Walmart's salon it would be $300+ and multiple sessions to get my hair lightened, but at the fixx salon it ended up being less than that and only took one session. She also managed to lighten it up more than we thought it could! So I'm satisfied with the experience and I definitely recommend them if you're looking for a new place to get your hair done. I'm also new to las cruces and just chose this place on a whim but it ended up being a good choice! Once again, I ask a coworker (who is in beauty school (do they still call it that?)) where she would recommend getting my hair done. She's all, "The Fixx, definitely!" So I call and guess what? THEY TAKE WALK INS. The place is cute. They are going for that whole black/white/red chandelier Hollywood Regency thing. The front door needs a coat of paint and the eighties called and want their tile back, but other than that, it's really cute and they totally captured the vibe they were going for. I got a cool stylist (I think her name is Jessica) who gave me a really cute cut and was interesting to talk to. She apparently was born in raised in the Las Cruces area so it was interesting to get her take on things. Anyways, before you knew it, the styling part was over and I was on my way. I thought the service was very inexpensive, but in a city where women pay, like, $12.00 for everything including the tip, apparently they considered what I paid expensive. Oh my gosh, what a great experience I just had at the Fixx!! I was WAY overdue for a haircut (it's been almost a year...eek!), but didn't know where to go since I'm kind of new to the area. I saw the previous review and thought I'd try this place. And boy, am I glad I did! Jolene was my stylist, and I told her what my hair habits are (basically just wash and air dry...sadly, I don't have any patience with things like hair and makeup), and she gave me the perfect cut. I've never been so happy with a haircut, and even my hubby is raving about it. Jolene is so talented and attentive and terrific, and she gave me the guidance I sorely needed (and in such a warm way). And the atmosphere is great, there, too--upbeat and clean and modern. I already have my next appointment made (no way I'm going a year this time around!). I'm grateful for a fabulous experience; I'm now an official Fixx-er! (Thought this review posted when I first attempted it, on 4/4/13...don't know why it doesn't show up. I would give 0 stars but I cant..... I had an appointment 4 months ago and asked for a layered mid/shoulder legnth cut. I asked the girl (i believe her name was kayla or kyla) cutting my hair if she was ok with cutting naturally curly/wavy hair and she said yeah but that she was going to cut it dry. She then proceeds to straighten my hair. When I asked her why she straightened it she said it's easier to cut. Since I had shown up with straight hair... I was unsure why she decided to straighten it. I was hesitant to continue. But she acted like she knew what she was doing. She started to trim the ends and remember I asked for a mid legnth cut. I went in with hair that was long/mid back in legnth. She is trimming and trimming and an hour later she is "done." I have to put my glasses back on to see and she took off maybe an inch and there were no layers and it was crooked. I asked her to straighten it because I've already realized she cant finish the cut the way I asked. I was furious but decided to pay (my mistake) because I didnt want the fight and was to pissed to say anything nicely. I went straight to the Regis salon in the Las Cruces mall and had my hair cut correctly. It goes to show you... high reviews dont necessarily mean good service. Being new to Cruces I didn't know where to go. I tried another salon twice and when I realized she really didn't know how to do the cut I wanted I began asking around (we started with my hair below my waist...now it's grazing my shoulders, I was running out of hair!). Many people told me to go to El Paso..finding it hard to believe there weren't any amazing stylists here, I asked a few college age girls and they recommended The Fixx and that EVERYONE there is great! *They were right! When I arrived at the salon I was greeted by a stylist and offered a beverage while I waited. I scheduled with Ramiro. Not only has he studied here, he also studied in CA (my home state) and other states perfecting his craft. Ramiro has a PASSION for what he does! I told him my concerns with my hair (it was heavy, uneven, etc.) and brought in a few pics of what I'd like to see. He combed through my hair to see what he had to work with/correct and we discussed what I liked about the pics and how I would style my hair at home (curly, straight, blow dry, flat iron, styling products, etc.). Then he gave me an amazing scalp massage during my wash/condition before getting to work on my cut. When he was done I had great layers and my hair felt like silk! He thinned out all the bulk that was driving me crazy! He just about nailed it! He had to work with what I had and I left happy. I know that with the next few cuts that we'll get it where I want it (need to grow it out). I plan to have Ramiro as my new stylist and wouldn't hesitate to recommend him to anyone. He asks all the right questions and does a great job. The salon is aptly named as he FIXX'D my hair (I also love that it shares the name of one of my fave 80's bands! Hee hee hee!)!!!! PS: When I arrived Jolene was finishing up a short haircut. It was adorable! I also saw her do another short cut while I was having my hair cut...I'm sending my mom to her since she rocks short hair! I recently moved to Las Cruces from CA. I had no recommendations for a hairdresser, but took a chance after looking around with The Fixx. I made appointment with Ramiro (owner) thought this would be less of a risk. NOTE! **I gave him the formula from my previous hairdresser in CA. ** For about 20 years now I've had two shades of blonde done with foil. I love the tones and how natural it looks. I was originally encouraged to do this by my stylist and delighted with the results. With Ramiro, I had a good experience on my first visit. We had agreed he would tone the blonde down some and when he was done I was very happy with the outcome, I told him what a great job he'd done. I wasn't as happy with the cut, but didn't feel it was necessary to say anything at that time. I'd been there for about 3 hours and was so ready to leave. Approximately six weeks later it was time for the roots to be redone. I called for an appointment. I asked for "highlights" with no hair cut. While Ramiro was doing the foil process, I noticed the amount of foils felt quite sparse compared to what I have previously experienced, so I asked him "you're doing the whole head right"? "Yes" he replied. "OK, why is there no foil around my ear area, addressing the hair coming onto my cheek"? He replied.. "because that hair is delicate ... and.... " whatever else he said. "Then does that mean when the hair grows out it will be DARK"? I was concerned with the potential lack of color in that area. I wasn't quite convinced with his explanation, however I was accepting it. He then turned my chair round and I noticed instantly that he was using only ONE color!! "Ooooh, I assumed you were doing the TWO colors"?? At this point these are the exact words he said to me - "Calm down, calm down". lol I wasn't shouting, but I was surprised. He said "you asked for highlights" and I admit I did. Obviously, MY mistake. I never mind admitting when I am wrong. I then said, "but when you asked me what we were doing today, I said EXACTLY what you did last time, I loved it". He had done the TWO COLORS. To this, is said "DON'T COME BACK"!!! I was absolutely incredulous... Thereafter, he was mumbling loudly "I've ONLY done however many hundreds of heads of hair", "I've ONLY been trained to do.........." I can't even remember, and I didn't care how many or what kind of training he's had in his young life. He then finished off his ridiculous tirade by saying to me "whoever puts TWO colors on your hair, is ripping you off"!!!! Unbelievable ... so does this mean HE ripped me off? I don't care, I like how it looks, I'm always receiving compliments. Even after he did my hair the first time, I had a lady from my gym came up to me asking where I had my hair done, because she thought it looks so very good, and she wanted the same! Go figure!! Needless to say, I've since UNRECOMMENDED the services of this hairdresser. I'm passing on my horrible experience with Ramiro of The Fixx, for others to be very aware, that if you want some clarification about the process this person is doing on your hair, be prepared for total rudeness & banishment. They did my make-up and hair for my wedding, as well as my bridal party and let me tell you it was the most stress free, fun, and enjoyable experience. Day of a big event like a wedding can be stressful but the Fixx team was truly amazing, not for one second was there a stressful moment. Disappointed. Needed an emergency haircut and saw Jessica. She gave a very basic haircut and an awful blow dry. She was so bad she had to use a flat iron and I don't have curly hair. For $50 I expect a quality cut and excellent blow dry. I had to beg her to thin out my growing out bangs. I plan to call them and ask that someone fixx my bangs, I'm still not happy with them. ABSOLUTELY THE WORST. Katie did a terrible job on my hair. I was so dissatisfied I literally cried when I got into my car. I went in to get my hair "fixed" for homecoming and due to brassyness. I showed her a picture of what I wanted which was a pretty light blonde Balayage with dark brown roots and some highlights. I already had the blonde on more than half of my hair. I'm never going back if I ever do end up going back it would be to get my money back. Don't get me wrong she was really nice but she did whatever she wanted with my hair. Now I can't do nothing about it I have to wait until it's better and ready to re dye. Then I'd ask her questions because I had a gut feeling she was fucking up. The Fixx is the ONLY place in Las.Cruces or El Paso that I will get my hair cut. All of the stylists are awesome and they've all cut my hair except for the guy, I don't know his name... I have short straight hair and most of the stylists in this area can't do short haircuts but Whitney and Jessica can and they do it so well that I get compliments even several months after I've gotten my hair cut. I can not believe i was charged a dime for the haircut I received today. The girl at this salon dont know her name did the worst job ever on my bangs and still charged me. Everyone who has seen my hair is in shock been to several other salons and they said there is nothing they can do to fix it. I have to let it grow out i have been waiting two months to find the right stylist and she had the nerve to try and blame it on me. Even when i said it is too short she kept on cutting and when i told her cut up to eyebrows. She just took it upon herself to do what she wanted. Then wanted to get the owner to try to fix them when you cut bangs extremely too short there is no way to fix it. I will be down there Monday for my refund friends are sorry they recommend them to me. It is not their fault a stylist did and does not have the experience cutting curly hair. It is the most helpless feeling when some cuts your hair so bad. Then tries to blame the customer i am still in disbelief i have been on facebook and will tell everyone i know which is a lot of people not to go here. Some who are regular customers are upset that they charged me and try to put the blame on me. That is not sitting well with others you will lose business you never know who the person is that your cutting hair on. This can hurt your business financially as angry as i am. This place is the biggest collection of rude people I've ever seen. They have a cancellation policy they don't bother telling you about that charges you 1/2 times the rate of whatever service you cancelled on your next visit if you cancel less than 24 hours in advance. My wife had an appointment at 1 and wasn't called and reminded until 5pm the previous night (less than 24 hours). Then we she said she had to cancel she was told of this policy. After complaining about it, the OWNER BANNED her and told her, "guess you'll have to find another salon!" Really? In this day and age do you think you're the only salon in town? This after my wife spend hundreds there in the past few months (they are NOT cheap). Avoid at all cost, go anywhere else you can! read more

Every 4-5 weeks I go to see Jolene to get my FIXX and every visit I leave with the most incredible haircut and when needed color. Jolene has been cutting my hair for over 7 years. She knows what I am willing to do and not do relative to styling my hair and my lifestyle, and I never ever leave the salon feeling like the cut/styling is something I cannot re-create (at the amateur-level anyway). She is a true artist whose love for what she does is exemplified by how you look when you leave. In fact, I frequently can identify Jolene haircuts walking around town - yes, she is that good! She listens to you and evaluates your input with your hair (type, health, etc.) BEFORE she starts cutting/coloring. BTW - the definition of an awesome awesome haircut when you get the most compliments on the day you have severe bedhead! The salon and staff are relaxed, friendly and very helpful! And if you cannot get an appointment with Jolene I can also recommend Whitney and Ramiro! GREAT SALON!!! read more
