The Fitting Image - I needed my bridesmaid dress to be altered for me asap. - Sewing & Alterations Near Me - San Luis Obispo, California

The women here are amazing to say the least. They are obviously swamped for a reason! I brought my wedding dress that I had bought in Spain to be tailored at the fitting image. They worked with me to make sure the dress not only fit perfectly, but was comfortable and that I could move and dance in it easily. They quickly addressed any concerns that I had and prioritized last minute changes that needed to happen just a day before the wedding. Not only was the quality fantastic but the pricing wasfar and away Better than the prices, I have heard paid by any of my other friends that have been brides. read more

Anyone know how to contact the owners here? They still have a dress of mine. I've called, emailed, texted....no response. They have closed their location and the business line does ring through. They were in contact with me upon closing and assured me that they would let me know when and where I could pick up the dress when they were settled. read more

Never write these but I felt like I should for brides looking for a good wedding dress alterations. I had my dress hemmed and the straps shortened. They told me 109 would be the last payment. When I went to pick up my dress, they charged me an extra 30 . I asked why and she said beads? Then on my card it said that I was charged more 145 plus the 90 I paid for the visit. Yikes! I let it go because I thought my dress was so nice and everyone was really nice in the store. THENNN..it got worse. My dress on my wedding day kept stabbing me, come to find out , all of the bottom was had all of the pins still in it! On top of it, it seemed to get longer as the day went on!!!?!? I looked even closer and it looked like someone just cut the bottom with scissors:( it was a bummer trying to walk on my wedding day with it like that :( just wanted to say be careful when getting dress alterations !! read more

Amazing Service!! The zipper of my husband's favorite pullover USC jacket of 20+ years broke. I went to a cleaners in Pismo and they said they could not fix it. I went to Village Cleaners in SLO and they referred me to "The Fitting Image." The Fitting Image - Amazing!!! Melissa, greeted me with a smile from a distant and as she walked towards me she started putting on her mask for safety. (Thank You) She fixed my husband's favorite jacket zipper in less than seven minutes. I could just cry!!! My husband's USC favorite jacket was fixed. He will be thrilled to be able to wear this on Father's Day!!! Thank you and Blessings Melissa. read more

I've now been to TFI twice now for two different bridesmaid dresses, and I will only ever go here for any fitting needs I have in the future. They were quick, they were prompt, and they were absolutely spot-on! While they may not be the cheapest in town, the quality of work is absolutely among the highest. Every time I go in, they are packed with clothes waiting to be altered, and yes my items are always done on time. This last time it was done at the end of the day instead of the beginning, and they called to let me know anyway. For my last bridesmaid dress, I needed it shortened a good foot and a half, the hips taken in, a stitch added in the bust, and the straps shortened significantly. Their customer service and quality of work is 100% top notch, and I would whole heartedly recommend them to anyone in need of getting anything altered! I don't have any photos of the dress alone, but here's one that'll have to do! (It started as a tent, and finished as the champagne one on the right) read more

Took a mother of the bride dress into the shop for many alterations. They did such a great job! The dress looks like it was custom made just for me! I also took some pants and some jeans in for hemming. All perfect! Love love love this group of talented women! read more

I've taken small items (pants to be hemmed, etc.) to the Fitting Image for a couple of years now. As I was preparing for my wedding, they were the first to come to mind for my dress alterations. My wedding dress was originally my grandma's dress and was also worn by my mom... to say there was a lot on the line with the alterations would be an understatement! They took on the project enthusiastically and respected the dress's sentimental value to me and my family. I love the final result and am so glad they took the project on! read more

The Fitting Image - Fitting image....they'll fix it! - Sewing & Alterations Near Me - San Luis Obispo, California

I needed to get my bridesmaid dress hemmed as I am very short, and I needed some alterations done in the chest area. Melissa + her team did a fabulous job. I felt comfortable being able to tell them what I specifically needed done while also trusting them with whatever methods/ideas they also had in mind in order to get there. This was first time, as an adult, going somewhere to get something hemmed/altered, and I am very glad I chose The Fitting Image. I will be recommending them should anyone ask me! read more

My go-to place for both repairs and alterations. They are very nice, honest, and talented. My husband had a suit altered by them over the summer and we were very happy with their customer service, communication, and ability to make a poor fitted suit look great. More recently I came in to get a zipper replaced, but they recommended an easier fix that saved me money. We are definitely committed customers for life. read more

Melissa, the Store Owner of The Fitting Image, was extremely verbal and physically threatening to me to the point to where I was forced to call the police on her, because she left a scratch on my hand by snatching my paid in full receipts out of my hand against my will when I requested a refund for her damages and that she give me my coat back that she ruined the antique lace on that she incorrectly sewed on my coat against my will with no regard to the very careful instructions that I gave to her to complete my design on my coat that I requested her to do. She also ruined the part of my coat where she sewed the lace on incorrectly and my antique lace that can never be replaced. Melissa tried to keep my coats, antique lace, antique pearl material, black velvet material, antique snaps, and other items that I left with her to complete my coat designs, dress designs, and headband designs. She also refused to give me a refund for all above damage to my coat and to my antique lace that she ruined. But, the police offcier was wonderful in helping me to get my refund. I was forced to give a 1 star rating to be able to complete this review, but Melissa, The Fitting Image Owner, and The Fitting Image deserve a "O Star Rating." Please be very careful if you choose to ever go to The Fitting Image for anything; it simply is not a safe place to go to. Go Men and Women in Blue!!! Thank you so much for "Protecting Us All"! read more

The Fitting Image did a fantastic job altering my wedding dress. Honestly, I was very worried about how it was going to work out for me with my dress because I am very petite and have a somewhat unusual body type (4'10 & curvy). We bought my dress at a sample sale so it was quite a few sizes too big and incredibly long. Everyone at the fitting image was so friendly, helpful, and excited for me. They paid extra attention to detail and listened to my concerns. In the end, the dress was perfect and definitely a highlight of my wedding day! read more

Kitty altered my wedding dress perfectly. My gown required a hem, different bra cups, a bustle and an added hook and she mastered it all flawlessly. The time frame (1 week) was very reasonable and I believe the cost was fair ($75 for all of that). I'd definitely recommend her to any bride! read more

Not everything goes according to plan and if it doesn't this sure isn't the place to go!!!!!! I have been to this shop twice now and the first time it took over 4 weeks to get a hole in my blouse sewn, for $15, and the second time we had a prom emergency. My daughter and i were treated very rudely and like we were crazy for even coming in here and asking if they could help us with her Prom dress. They said it would be 3 weeks until it could get done and we didn't even have an appointment to do that. They were so short with us I didn't even feel comfortable asking if they could recommend someone in the area to help us. We did find another local shop where they were more than happy to recommend someone. read more

Good service. I got a little nervous about their shop dog tearing up my wedding gown, but the little one stays out of the way. Just make sure to have your voice heard. But maybe that's just a good life tip. read more

Thank god for Kitty and everyone at the Fitting Image!!! They've saved the day time & time again... from a bridesmaid dress that was sent a size too small a week before the wedding, to taking in my favorite business suit, to turning some ridiculously ugly pants into a really cute skirt. They're even going to turn a bridesmaid dress into a vest for a guy for my best friend's wedding. YES! I love them. I look around my closet for things I don't like just to bring them in to see what they can do. Pathetic, how much I love them. BRIDES - GET YOUR ALTERATIONS DONE HERE. Kitty is amazing! She will do wonders and they will charge you reasonably. PS - cash or check only! read more

TFI saved the day. I'm a San Diego local who was driving up for a wedding on the Central Coast. I ended up being in a severe rush leaving SD and when I picked up my dress from the alterations lady down there, I did not try it on before I left. Big mistake. When I went to try it on two nights before the wedding, I discovered she'd sewn it practically 2 sizes too tight - I couldn't even zip it halfway up. Of course, the bride and I went into panic mode and the next morning (the day before the wedding, which was an hour south) we called Kitty, who did my bride's dress. MIRACLE WORKER. She not only got it done in 2 hours, but spent a good amount of time with me making sure the lace worked well with the alterations - something the lady down south didn't even consider. Bottom line, I don't know what I would have done without Kitty. Love the ladies here! They saved the day and made me look FABULOUS! read more

Highly recommend the Fitting Image! Recently had two bridesmaid dresses altered here and they did a fantastic job. Five stars! -I stopped by the Fitting Image after the zipper on my beloved Frye leather jacket gave up the ghost. It happened to be a top result in a Google search, so I figured I'd give them a shot. Glad I stopped by! -I was helped immediately when I walked in, and after a minute or so of fiddling with the existing zipper, it was decided the pull on it had gone bad. She popped it off, gave it some hefty tweaking with some pliers, and slid it back on. It actually held! No charge. -We figured the "pliers fix" was just a stop-gap to buy some time anyway, but it got the jacket closed for my 15-mile motorcycle ride home that day anyway! -I ultimately opted to go the "most reliable" route and replace the entire zipper, since other portions of it were showing signs of wear after 10 years as well. They were so concerned that I'd be tempted to ride my motorcycle without my leathers on, they turned the repair around overnight! -I'm perfectly happy with the new zipper (matched exactly to the "vintage distressed" look of the jacket), the speed of the turnaround, and the solid quality of the repair. -I'll be taking all my alterations and repairs here from now on. read more

They are great. They fixed my leather briefcase and it looks as good as new. They also fixed the tear in my wetsuit, and did so for a reasonable price. They are not cheap, but you certainly get what you pay for. I recommend them without reservation. read more

Kitty and the rest of the gang are amazing. The first time I came in with my wedding dress she saved my day. I was a little iffy on some of the parts on my dress and when i went in to talk to her about it, she totally got it. She was like the little godmothers in Cinderella- fast, effective and did an awesome job changing it around. She was incredibly knowledgeable and was willing to take the time to explain to me about her process and what she wanted to do. She's always avaliable (even on Sundays!) and is willing to work around my schedule. I wouldn't trust anyone else with my items. read more

I took my wedding dress to TFI to be hemmed and bustled. I was really impressed with their speed and friendliness. Kitty is the nicest, and they made the whole experience really easy.
