I initially wrote a review Fall 2011 and it was recently removed because I didn't come back to…read moredirectly update with "my first hand experience." Fair enough and my apologies for overlooking that by including my update in the Fit Fresh review. Hybrid shows real results via several ads that run in the WSJ. I was willing to pay the cost to join for those results in the time frame I had to complete. The bonus: I had a friend complete the program and although he's male (and men lose weight faster) I saw the same results in him and took his feedback to heart. So I was really excited to start the meal plan first and complete my bootcamp contract out then go over to Hybrid. My personal experience: The place appears to be clean and well kept. Hybrid Fitness apparently excutes the BCOR bootcamp committment in this area until someone else is able to handle the downtown/east/suburbian areas. I signed up with Bcor anticipating the start of my experience at the end of July 2012. Because of my previous experience and most recent email contact I decided this may not be smart to attend. I got unnerved after receiving a Yelp email that the Fit Fresh review received a response, but it was removed (no real issue there) + I received a harrasing message referring to my review via my inbox. So combine that inbox message with the removed message - call me smart to be nervous and suscipicous. Now, I'm over my fears of the Yelp stalker or at least the fears don't outweigh my hope in meeting my new deadline before having to report back to the unit. To that end, I'll report back in 90days how the workouts go.

Wife and I were in town for the CrossFit Games in Madison. We wanted a gym that, if we could…read moreactually find it, would be a "hybrid" between CrossFit and a regular gym. Holy crap we found it - literally - with Hybrid Athletic Club! Want to do CrossFit stuff with turf, sleds to push/pull, ropes (both hanging and battle), dead balls, wallballs, a rig, GHDs, rowers, you name it? Got it. Want to do standard bodybuilding with dumbbells, barbells, basic selectorized machines or regular cardio on ellipticals or treadmills or step mills or an air bike or ....? Got it! The two women who own it are super nice and it's obvious they are REALLY trying to do well by their members. In the mind blown category, as if what I already said isn't enough, one of the owners, who is OBVIOUSLY a MUCH better person than me, remembered my name from the previous day. Huh? Yep. She came over to me as I was foam rolling and said "Hi David" - think about that, I'm in town for three days, I'll never have a full on membership there due to where I live, and she remembered my name. Hell, I go to the LA Fitness 3x/week and I can't even get the counter person to say high when they are HOLDING the fob scanner 18 inches away from me! It gets even better. They are a 24/7 facility with fob access. So we got a fob, paid the very reasonable fee for our three days of use and we were all set - we could come and go as we pleased, any day or time we wanted. That's almost weird it's so good - since it wasn't a globo Anytime Fitness and the like. The 2nd day I saw something I've NEVER seen in my 33 years as a gym rat and probably NEVER will again. There was a CrossFit class going on AND there was figure/bodybuilding/physique posing clinic going on in other areas of the gym. Think about THAT - CrossFit and physique co-existing in the same building? Yep - and since I love both it was pretty freakin cool to see. We will definitely be back to this facility when we return next year - this is OUR gym while we're in town now. We just wish there was such a place in Springfield. If I had more than two thumbs I'd give it more than two thumbs up - same goes for the five stars.

Matt, the owner and head coach, monitors each client's progress over time and never allows shenanigans in his gym (well, maybe the fun ones). Whether you are far from your prime and looking to get back in shape, or if you're an aspiring Froning, Matt has a place for you in his gym. Like any affiliate, the cost is higher than you will pay at a Gold's. However, you get what you pay for. Crossfit can be the most expensive gym membership you hold, or it can be the best personal training for your buck, bar none. When I started training there, I wasn't pressured to lay down the plastic, and as a result I was happy to do so when the time came. This ain't an ad kids, feel free to come in any given afternoon and you'll see me training there. Meet Matt and some of the other 1847 denizens, and jump in a workout when you're ready. You'll be glad you did.

He takes the time to make sure every person in his box know what they are doing before letting them tackle any kind of lifts. The gym itself might come across as a little intimidating to those of us who aren't frequent heavy lifters, but once Jenn showed us around, it was much more approachable. She build our workout around everyone's different levels so that everyone felt included and able to get the workout done. We tried machines I would never have tried on my own like the PitShark and the weighted sled. Other members of the club were focused on their workouts, but also super friendly! They have a vending machine of protein shakes and snacks, lots of selfie stations to make videos of your form and personal accomplishments and great music. I really liked that they have a garage door out back that they open when the weather is nice to keep it nice and bright inside as well as getting fresh air in there. I really wish they were closer to me in Milwaukee, but I also appreciate that Jenn does a virtual training plan for me based on my tools at home and skill set. I like his "quit while you are ahead" idea and his holistic approach to feeling good and looking good. I've seen people pushing themselves without understand why they are doing so. While this is not a gym, at least not until they expand and they have plans to do that, this is a great place to start learning about how to take care of oneself, not be judged, and feeling and eating good. Oh wait, there's no food served here but it is right next to "the Curve". What I like best about focal point training is Tyler's personality and attitude. Super friendly, enthusiastic and willingness to work with individuals to meet personal goals. Besides being a certified personal trainer, Tyler is also certified in hypnosis to help his clients achieve their goals after a training session. I really connect with his methodology of creating a program for the individual to make exercising sustainable and fun. Package starts out with 10 sessions to learn (and do) how to feel where you need to be and how you can make progress on your own after the sessions or sign up for individual sessions with Tyler after that. If anyone is looking for a personal trainer, I would recommend Tyler.

I'm 46, a former runner and had basically given up on exercise. I needed help. My life has truly been transformed by Tyler and his Good Enough philosophy. I have worked out almost every day for the past 3 weeks and am totally hooked. My pain has dramatically subsided and I feel so much stronger already. I had adjustable dumbbells before I started and then purchased adjustable kettlebells, but that is all I have needed to get the job done. Tyler is passionate about what he does, very professional and just an all around nice guy! He teaches you sustainable exercise and he truly cared about my success.
