Some of my favorite things they have that you dont see at every gym: weighted sled, bars made specifically for different lifts, micro plates, heavy clamps, the list goes on... Theyre never crowded (at least compared to Gold's Gym in Fitchburg). Ive waited for a bench to open up once and ive shared a deadlift platform a few times but thats it. The atmosphere is great too. They have dank lifting memes all over the place, a life-sized yoda replica, and a john cena cut out. They play loud metal and rap music all day too. The gym is 24 hours. If you come at odd hours, you might get the gym to yourself and have to let yourself in with a key fob. They dont have group fitness or a swimming pool though, so look elsewhere if you need those things. Also, if you get intimated easily by people who are stronger than you, maybe look somewhere else. Despite how strong and experienced most of the clients are, everybody ive met so far has been very friendly and helpful. I find the other lifters to be inspiring instead of intimidating, so i suggest you give Madtown Fitness a try if youre trying to take your strength to the next level.

I don't think I can say enough positive things about this place. I went to their new location on the east side so I am specifically mentioning that gym. Atmosphere- unreal. Perfect warehouse type gym that is extremely motivating for those that take fitness seriously. Staff- Dan, one of the owners, was very helpful and got us set up for the day immediately. He showed us how to use a few of the pieces of equipment as well since there are some machines that I have never seen before. This is a testament to the care that these people take in selecting equipment. Equipment- I have been to dozens of gyms since I travel for work and Madtown had the best selection of strength equipment I have ever seen. If you powerlift, bodybuild, or do any combination of the two this place is perfect. If you want to watch TV and walk on the treadmill, sit in a steam room, or have a pool the this place isn't for you. If I didn't live over an hour away I would have signed a life long contract here. Rates are reasonable and this is the first serious gym I have been to that gives access 24/7 while having 2 locations. Seriously check this place out if you want to make changes to your body.

During COVID-19 they do not require masks or require their members to practice safe distancing…read more They say they do, but when they are shown that some members have masks on the top of their head for the entire workout (yes, like a hat!) and/or under their chin for the entire workout, they DO nothing about it. Since there is video throughout the club---it's a pretty simple task to handle if safety was even something remotely a concern. Not. It's apparently all about the monies. Sad. For social distancing, most younger members do not respect the '6 feet' recommended safe distance in any shape or form. Some do, but most don't. Most are too busy with their phones stuck in their face to have any consideration for the health of others. Sad. Pretty much most/all the older club members (50+) have disappeared from the club ....and I doubt they will be quick to return, if ever. Sad. Staff members are now only one day a week (Wed) from 12-7pm. Consider some place else.

Don't have the time to get it checked out. It's so difficult trying to find a staff member. I have a friend who wants to try the gym to then become a member. But we never catch a staff member there. We call, nobody answers. Then we go in the morning. Nobody is there. We call the 24 front desk at another location. We are told to come back in the afternoon. I asked for specific hours, since we have jobs that are morning to evening. They said "they stay for a couple hours". I asked again, sooo you don't know when someone is here. They said, yea, and to try calling later. Help me to help you.....

It's generally not crowded so you're able to find the equipment you want to use for your workout without waiting. The staff are super friendly and overall it's a great atmosphere for a quick session. Only critique is I wish there was a bench press/stand alone barbell that wasn't a part of the smith machine.

This place was well lit and clean. They seem to place high importance in keeping their equipment wiped down as each machine had its own bottle of cleaner. I'm guessing they read the past reviews and stepped up their game. There were ample lockers, and bathrooms. The entrance was a tad difficult to spot as the address is Segoe Street but the entrance was a bit up on Frey. This location is much nicer than either of the larger east, west, or Fitchburg gyms, with up to date equipment. I'm a third shifter, so I was there from 3-4:30am.

We thought the groupon was for a six week membership to the gym, however upon arriving for our consultation we found out that it was actually just for the boot camp classes. Th boot camp classes are offered 4-ish times per week. The staff person who helped us out at our consultation (required) was just ok. Not overly friendly and seemed annoyed by the questions I was asking. However, the trainer who led our classes during our short membership at Monkey Bar was great! She really pushed all of us to do our best while maintaining great form. The classes themselves are really challenging but a great work out! The workouts change so you only do the same workout 2X per 4-6 week period. I know that sans groupon Monkey Bar is pricy. Unfortunately we found that the gym equipment wasn't super nice and the space itself could use a refresh. Good workout by quite pricy compared to what you would get from other gyms in the area for the same price. Overall, definitely worth a try but maybe try and find a deal to see if you like it first!

When you first sign up they require you to come in for an initial consultation. They will show you around and give you information about how the classes work and what to expect etc. This is a great time to ask any questions you may have and learn how the facility runs so you don't feel so lost on the first day. The trainers recommend a plant-strong diet and encourage all participants to log their workouts. I had my initial consultation with Raquel. She was amazingly helpful, and encouraging. It was nice to know one of the instructors before I had even taken a class! They post the daily workout on a whiteboard so you can check it out before class starts. They also have a binder that has all the workouts for the month, if you like to look further ahead. The workouts change all the time so you're never bored. Monkey Bar does a wonderful job of explaining/modeling how to do each exercise. They make it a point to go over every exercise you will be doing before participants begin the workout. The whiteboard also has a section that is divided into "stability" "strength" and "power". Here they have suggestions for modifications/challenges for participants who want to tailor their workout. The trainers are always helpful when it comes to finding an alternate exercise. The trainers and members at Monkey Bar are very friendly. They ask you to get with a partner for some exercises and I have had no trouble finding a partner and striking up a friendly conversation with them. Members often say encouraging things to one-another during the workouts as well. One day after the workout I was getting a drink and a man (who I believe is an owner, or at least another trainer I hadn't met) asked me if I had recently joined. I told him yes and he enthusiastically welcomed me. Overall, Monkey Bar is great. The workouts can be very intense but I always feel invigorated afterward. Great experience! :)
