Have YOU ever fantasized about sleeping on a bed of cottage cheese? If you have, then hurry on down to Gardner White Furniture and for a mere $900.00, you can purchase a twin sized Simmons Beauty Rest mattress, Model #BRL2PLTT3/3MATT, which has a TEN YEAR warranty.
When you lay down on it, you will swear that you really ARE sleeping on top of cottage cheese, complete with all of the lumps, and when you call the store to complain, they will do nothing about it.
Seriously, I purchased this in December, and noticed it felt lumpy the first time I tried to lay on it. I thought maybe I just needed to sleep on it for awhile, and give it a chance to even out. After 4 months, it was even worse. I called Gardner White, and the first words out of the customer service rep's mouth were, "Oh, we can't honor any kind of warranty because you don't have a mattress pad." I replied that the day I bought the mattress, I was going to purchase a mattress pad from them, but it was such horrific quality that on the way home from there, I stopped off and bought a really nice one, and it has been on the mattress since the day it was delivered. When she saw that excuse wasn't going to work, she agreed to send a technician out to look at it.
The service man came out and stretched some kind of a measuring device across the mattress and said they could not warranty it because there were no "sags" under the device. I explained that from the very beginning, there never was any sagging, but when you actually lay on it with the weight of your body, each and every lump is absolutely there. He said he was not going to lay on it (I guess I don't blame him for that), but so sorry, no sagging, no warranty.
He did, however, turn the mattress, and low and behold, when it was turned and I lay on it now, not a single lump can be felt. So, the "bottom half" of the mattress is perfect, just like it should be. He said I am supposed to turn the mattress every 2-4 months, which means when I do, I will be right back on the lumpy end of the mattress.
Gardner White is adamant they will do nothing for me. I called Simmons directly and was told they will not override Gardner White's decision under any circumstances.
I know nothing about how a mattress is constructed, and have no idea why one-half of the mattress is perfect and the other half is a train wreck, but for $900.00, I am furious that I am expected to just live with it. I am not asking for a refund, or replacement with a higher quality mattress; I only want to get what I paid for, with a replacement mattress that is constructed properly. I am tempted to pack this mattress up and take it into their showroom and say I am not leaving until they do something, but I would probably end up arrested for disturbing the peace!
I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, but Gardner White still refused to do anything!
Let me see if I got this right - If there is no visible sagging, the mattress MUST be 100% perfect, and there simply cannot be anything else defective about it.
MORAL of the story: Do NOT shop at Gardner White, and avoid purchasing a Simmons Beauty Rest mattress from anywhere. Customer service is non-existent from both companies.
