Coach Juan and Coach Pablo are great coaches who genuinely care about each child. Coach Juan is especially encouraging and inspiring. He teaches much more than fencing techniques--he also emphasizes sportsmanship, resilience, respect, discipline, and how to become a great person both on and off the strip. One of the things we appreciate most is the culture of the club. The relationships among the fencers are warm, welcoming, and supportive. The older kids often help coach, mentor, and encourage the younger ones, creating a strong sense of community where everyone wants to see each other succeed. And fun she had! Six years later, every night, she is still excited to go to practice at TTFC. And as an additional bonus, along the way, in March, she became the 2019 US National Champion in Women's Foil in the cadet and Junior categories. And now at 16 years old, she is ranked as one of the top women's foil fencers in the country and this season, she has represented the US at international fencing competitions (World Cups. Grand Prix) on both Senior and Junior USA National Teams. Coach Tedd is simply amazing! His unique coaching style combines friendliness and fun with top world-class fencing expertise. And now that the club has grown, there are also other great coaches working at TTFC and we take lessons from them as well. Coach Raul brings international-level fencing and coaching expertise from Cuba - one of the strongest fencing schools. For many years, he himself was a top-level international fencer and now he is sharing his knowledge with TTFC students of all levels and ages. Coach Alex is also an outstanding resource for us. His intimate knowledge of all the technical inner-workings of both epee and foil fencing and his decades of experience coaching national team member from many countries has proved to be essential to our daughter's success in this sport. Their "adult class" consist of persons as young as 13 years old. A man sized opponent really isn't fair to a person as young as 13, I fence epee. Also, I am not interested in fencing with children, but adults. that is not offered there. it's $230.00 a month for 3 times a week. That's rather costly to face the distraction of children. There are not many offerings in the area, so the lack of a true adult fencing program or club is problematic. Now, if this were for my children, I would absolutely recommend it, but this is for me. You' think that in San Diego County, there would be MORE available for adult fencers. The argument presented that there just isn't interest is absolutely false. It's just that adults aren't fencing because there aren't fencing clubs for us specifically. it's by it's nature not an expensive sport. but if I am going to pay in excess of $230.00 a month, it's going to have to cater to actual adult fencers. This said, I am very glad this is available to children, I was a child when I began fencing. It was a wonderful activity that kept me out of trouble and I had a lot of fun. In order to sign up for this, you have to go through the city Parks and Recreation departmental. In speaking with them, you can't possibly talk to a more unpleasant and unhelpful person. That experience detracts from the "class" altogether, which is why my ratings is only three stars compelling me to drive 2 to 3 hours away to OC or LACO so I can actually have the club experience that I want. I'm glad this program is available for kids, if you want your kid to train to fence, this is a great place. Champions will be made there. More on the coaches. Maestro Eric (Coach) is a responsive coach, and a very pleasant coach. Really upbeat and wants to address this. However, city parks makes this a real issue and are more geared toward children. Whereas I am interested in adult competitive olympic fencing. Without a doubt both coaches would be perfect to train me. But city parks and recreation make that impossible. However, should that ever change, I would very much like to see if going there to train would be a better fit for me as they are local and I am driving two hours to train now.

We love the amazing diversity, the supportive comradery, the attention to ethics and education of the fencing community for our whole family....But, what we love most, is this club! Our wisdom-filled, globally proficient head Coach Dmitriy, gives every attention to detail for the future of each of the kids. He maps out and ponders each child's future in the sport. Whatever the goals may be, from recreational or physical fitness to the highest competitive dreams, he's planning ahead. We all think of him as our own personal Yoda when it comes to the fencing world. Our kids just could not, WOULD NOT want anyone other than our beloved Coach Roman to mentor them daily and weekly in the fine points of their technique and training as Sabre fencers. It may sound haughty, but we know he is the BEST! All of Coach Barron's students say the same of him. He gives so many jewels of information for all the kids whether he's directly coaching your child or not. As parents, what more could we ask for? Coach Sergey's reputation precedes him as an Epee coach, yet for us- he has always given us all his support, especially for beginner fencers (and their unwitting parents) at events. We pretty fully credit him with teaching us how fencing "works," at competitions. And, last- but never least, in addition to her high reputation as a fencing instructor, Coach Olga is an incredible extra benefit for our kids on agility training every week. My kids are excited to get up on Saturday morning (YEP! You read that right! Saturday MORNING!) to get to train with her and/or Coach Roman on Saturday mornings before Fencing. I'll just assume when he's in Europe their will be no way of scheduling or speaking to anyone at the facility while he's away. I DO NOT RECOMMEND this fencing studio. They don't want your business.
