We went in with another couple after dropping our freshman children off at WCU. As parents we need a few minutes to regroup and relax before hitting the road to drive back to the coast. We were hoping for some pastry's but due to a familiar emergency, the baker was out. That being said, the staff told us other places in town that had what we were looking for and recommended items at the other establishments. The other couple got coffee, and were amazed at how tasty their drinks were. I wish I could remember what they got to make a recommendation, but I feel like with such a helpful staff they'll make sure you're in love with your drink. They've got several tables and a few different books for you to sit in, and either visit or study/work. This place is huge, with tall ceilings and a very airy feel.

Comically "small"

I was definitely drawn in by the historic vibe of this place but it wore off pretty quickly. I ordered a London Fog but it was inexplicably overwhelmed by lavender, to the extent it left a soapy feel in my mouth. Very unpleasant. The small was also really, really small. Finally, there was religious messaging everywhere. I have nothing against religious folks and a little messaging doesn't bother me. But this was excessive, to where it doesn't feel inclusive. For example, labeling coffee as "Christ, Offers, Forgiveness, For, Everyone, Everywhere!" The young lady who served us was very nice, though.

This place could not be cuter!! I make a goal to find an independent coffee shop in any new city we visit. I searched and found The Farmhouse and knew we had to stop in. So much thought and styling went into decorating it's like a calming little dream. If we lived close by this would be my favorite spot to drink delicious coffee and read my book. I ordered one of their coffee specials: "Cody's goat Monty" and it was perfect! I'm a big fan of this adorably spot.

Ordered the Christmas Morning Chai and was probably one of the best chais I've ever had in my life. I love the cute little coffee shop/farmhouse decorations.

Very nice coffee house. Our lattes were the best. The place is really rustic we loved it. The guy working was super helpful. We will be back for sure.

Such a cute place with great customer service and fantastic coffee and backed goods!

I am obsessed with this amazing coffee bar! The barista's are so helpful and friendly, they help create such a cozy environment. I do not live here but I make sure I come at least three times every time I'm in town, that includes short visits. I have at this point had just about every specialty coffee and pastry all of which were outstanding and I would definitely get again! My favorite coffees are typically the ones on the small chalkboard which are usually there copies of the month. There are tons of chairs and tables all over perfect for studying, reading a good book or even just enjoying a coffee with friends. Perhaps the best part of the entire experience has been taking my coffee into the cutest shop next-door and shopping their home decor clothing and jewelry. I always find items that I love and are so unique that I end up walking out with at least one thing every time! I could not recommend both of these places enough make sure you stop by and check it out for yourself plus the best part of all you're supporting a local business and who doesn't love that!

Five stars for this place. Such a cool coffee shop. Huge open yet rustic atmosphere. Simple menu. Delicious coffee. Lovely music. Especially love the Christian signs&decor. Hard to decorate without being cheesy but the owner did very well. Wish I lived in the area to come here often.

She said it was one of the best breakfast places she ever found so I was all about giving it a go myself. I had the huevos rancheros with cup of coffee. For a side I got fried potatoes. Nice place in downtown Sylva. Street parking right in front and available sat immediately upon arrival. Didn't have to wait long for food to come either. I enjoyed my meal and my wife got a biscuit and gravy and shared it with me and it was awesome as well. Lucy's is my new breakfast spot when visiting WCU.

They also offer pet-friendly outdoor seating, which is a great option if you're dining with your furry friend. Our waitress, Mackenzie, was fantastic! She was friendly, attentive, and made sure everything came out quickly. The service was excellent from start to finish. The food was absolutely delicious. We had the Grit Bowl Special, Chicken & Waffles, Brioche French Toast, and fresh fruit. The chicken tasted just like my grandma's recipe. It was crispy, flavorful, and paired perfectly with their spicy hot honey. Everything was fresh and cooked perfectly. The coffee bar was another highlight! They offer so many specialty drink options, including hot chocolate topped with homemade whipped cream. And don't skip the fresh-squeezed orange juice, it was some of the best we've ever had! What really made this place stand out for our family was how kid-friendly it is. The kids got to draw pictures while we ate, and afterward they were able to hang their artwork in the hallway for everyone to see. They absolutely loved it! There's also a large lounge area in the back with cozy seating and games like Shut the Box and chess, making it a great place to relax while waiting for a table or after your meal. If you're looking for a delicious breakfast, outstanding service, and a family-friendly atmosphere, Lucy in the Rye is definitely worth a visit. We'll absolutely be back, and I highly recommend it!
