We enjoyed excellent service, good food, tasteful music, and a positive vibe for not too much money. A pizza fed two of us and a salad the third. While neither inspired exclamations, both left positive impressions for taste and presentation. The food also bore that homemade touch. We liked that. By the time we finished, the tables had filled in around us. There's no reason this place shouldn't be busy.

I booked here way in advance for our early September trip, we were seated on the open air balcony with Newquay marina as the back drop. It seemed a little chilly to be seated outside at this time of year, but lo and behold they already thought it out with plastic covers at both sides of the balcony and heaters right at every dining tables. Not only did it create a cozy ambiance but made it warm and comfortable as well. We started our dinner with salt and pepper calamari to share with a glass of Rose and I then ordered Brown crab with salad and fries on the side, while my partner ordered grilled pollock. The dishes were undoubtedly fresh and came out in timely fashion. It is beauty about traveling, discovering new places and truly enjoying it. This experience was made even more awesome due to the hospitality and great customer service from the staff. A must try if you happen to be in Newquay!

I saw one give directions to a little old lady who wandered in from the street and even equipped her with a map before sending her on her way. Another staff member kept an eye on the children who were sat outside while their parents were inside and reported on the boy shenanigans that were going on. Very friendly staff, a nice setting with some tables outside to watch the world go by. Fair prices as well and dogfriendly. A sunny day, so we took a table outside. Ordered the classic cornish pasty with steak filling. And it was a fine pasty. But not the best we've ever had. The pasty could have been crispier, the filling a bit more spiced up. Did taste a bit bland. But recipes are different, tastes are different. It was good - but not great. Nice was the size, a really big pasty with lots of stuffing. It's really a whole meal for itself. All in all still a fine visit. The location was great, we enjoyed sitting down and to watch all the action.

It was very crowded and I sat down at a table with some people who had been waiting for their food for a long time. When the waitress brought mine (about 10 mins or so to put some salad portions on a plate and carry the plate about 20 feet!) it turned out the couple should have been told there was a delay with cooked food but had not been. Too many people had ordered quiche and they had had to cook some more but the cafe only has a tiny oven, apparently. This seems a bit odd for such a busy cafe with so many seats in so many sections on various floors. When I was leaving (not wildly late for lunch) they had run out of several of the salads and were not going to make any more. A man was getting a bit exasperated at the thought of paying that much for only about three different salads. Maybe they have a tiny fridge as well and therefore can't make sufficient in advance to feed all the people who turn up for lunch every day! All in all a pleasant cafe but could do a great deal better.
