Performance coaches here are unbelievably knowledgeable. From aspiring student athletes to pros and everything in between (including weekend warriors like myself), the coaching staff has everyone covered. Focusing on functional training, mobility, and recovery, they keep you fit as well as injury free. Let me start by saying I'm an average person, not a pro athlete or someone pursuing sports as a profession. I'm also a 31 year old mother of two. I have been working out at The Factory for a few short weeks now. I've never been to a more professional athletic gym in the San Fernando Valley. I was a Crossfit member for a year prior to joining The Factory but I found myself dissatisfied with the results (broader back and shoulders), not to mention the chronic shin splints and peroneal tendonitis I developed from the strenuous Crossfit movements, which has now led me to believe that Crossfit is not a sport for an average person. To top it off, the CrossFit philosophy on the paleo diet is one size fits all- thus, another reason I became dissatisfied with the overall practice and decided to call it quits. The Factory Director, Mike Guevara, gave me wholesome nutritional advice and after following that advice in just a few short weeks, my husband and I have already began to see some positive results, which have been paired with attending adult classes at The Factory just 3 times a week. Adult classes are challenging but the movements are not as taxing on the body as Crossfit is. Oddly, I have a lot of energy following a workout session. I have been more sore after Factory adult workouts than I ever have with Crossfit or any other workout regimen I've tried. The trainers at The Factory are professionals, not just accredited with a weekend certification or self-taught like many other "trainers/coaches" you might see at other gyms. The Factory trainers have educational backgrounds in the fields of Kinesiology, Exercise Science, Physical Therapy, and are Certified Nutritionists. What more can someone ask for from gym? Based on the results I'm already beginning to see and feel, it's very clear these people know what they're doing. I highly recommend any average person to try the adult classes at The Factory. Don't be intimidated by the fact that professional athletes go there. People go to The Factory to become the best version of themselves. The trainers care about your safety and that your form is correct. I am constantly impressed with Alexis and Desiree's coaching. It pains me to write this, but not because I didn't enjoy The Factory, but because I'm now 3,000 miles away and can't get the training I've enjoyed for so long. My search for a trainer started when I was finishing up recovery from a knee injury. Frustrated with the lack of available trainers who had competent knowledge of transitioning back to sports activity (or return to play), I found solace in Mike G and the Factory. I scheduled an evaluation session so I could see what The Factory offered and for them to hear about what I wanted. Immediately, Mike knew what I needed and mapped out the areas we'd want to focus on and build. We ramped up the level of training and added tons of dynamic workouts that, frankly, just weren't available elsewhere. Every session was a butt kicking and Mike knew I hated it, but loved it. They treat and train professional athletes, collegiate athletes and amateur athletes with the same level of respect and enthusiasm that I'd expect. The Factory is literally incredible. Coach E is the owner, but he's more than that to the kids - he's a motivator and someone who genuinely believes in them. My daughter (9) and son (7) both play baseball, and they've been going to the factory for the past few months. As long as my kids play sports, the factory will be part of their regimen. They have expert coaches/trainers (they are tremendous) who are working with them to get quicker, stronger, faster, more agile, etc. It's hard to explain without seeing the workouts. I wish someone would have told me a long time ago to just "try it for a day or two". I played baseball my whole life through college, and what I found is that just playing baseball every day will not maximize your baseball potential! The reason is simple - baseball practices do not maximize your athletic ability. I wish this place was around when I played ball.
