I love this hotel due excellent customer service, and delicious food. I recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to visit Cozumel. The best ever!!!

Returned for our 3rd time to The Explorean Cozumel and just as enchanted this visit as previous! The resort is beautiful, tucked away in the jungle behind the Fiesta Americana. This way you have the best of both worlds - private, quiet, secluded area with a private pool and restaurant; but you still have access to the party which is Fiesta Americana. The activities included at the Explorean are always fun - jeep tour, snorkeling trip, paddle boarding, "Discover Mexico" tour, we enjoyed them all very much. The staff at the restaurant and bar take such wonderful care of the guests! We truly enjoyed talking with Roberto, Alfonso, Fermin, Javier and Juan. It's special that they take the time to know and remember your preferences - by the end of a week there, they make excellent recommendations for food and drink. It was great! The desk staff were also welcoming and always wanting to make sure you have what is needed. Marco, Victor, Guillermo, Darwin - all making our visit top notch! The island of Cozumel is beautiful and the resort in a very easy location. You can quickly hop in a cab and head downtown for about $6 if you crave the busier atmosphere. We were happy to enjoy the beautiful resort and spend days on the ocean snorkeling and diving. Highly recommend The Explorean in Cozumel!

This is a beautiful resort, on the lovely island of Cozumel. My friend and I came here for a week,…read moreand we enjoyed our stay very much. The location is close enough to the main town area that it's easy to get back and forth via a quick cab ride or on bike. The food on the resort is fine. We really enjoyed the breakfast buffet which is typically included in room rates. The other restaurants were okay, typically a little underwhelming for how excellent the food in this part of the country is. The sushi, for example, had a very strong vinegar taste as if the sushi rice had been over-seasoned with vinegar and mirin. One exception is the passion fruit ceviche at one of the beach restaurants, which was excellent and we ordered it two separate times. Overall though, I would encourage you to visit some of the many wonderful and affordable restaurants all over the island. My room was extremely comfortable and well appointed, with one exception. The TV was so old that we were unable to access any apps or even connect my computer for streaming. This isn't a big deal generally, but because we had some rainy days this was a bit disappointing. At this price point and prestige level, I would expect the TVs to be more updated. My guess is that these were 10 or more years old. I want to specifically commend this hotel for their excellent staff. The staff were consistently so friendly and helpful, and proactive for whatever was needed. Truly some of the nicest hospitality staff I have ever encountered, and so professional. The facilities are excellent and we particularly enjoyed our day at the spa, which was a real treat. The dive shop on site has a lot of great services as well. I would definitely stay here again and would recommend others to stay here as well. It's a special place on a beautiful island, what's not to like?

I've stayed here a few times for work, and it's one of those hotels that keeps growing on you…read more The Setting The hotel sits about 15 minutes from the main town, in a quieter part of the island. That distance works in its favor. It feels calm, removed, and much more relaxed than staying closer to the cruise crowds. Architecturally, it leans retro, but in a good way. The bones are older, but the interiors have been updated with smart design choices that make everything feel current and polished without losing character. The Rooms The rooms are a strong point. Spacious, comfortable, and designed to take full advantage of the ocean views. Most rooms have some version of a water-facing angle, which makes a difference. If you're on the ground floor, you might get one of the outdoor rain showers. Fully private, surprisingly great, and one of those features you didn't know you needed until you have it. There's also a large indoor shower, so you're covered either way. The bathrooms are especially well stocked. Beyond the usual amenities, you get after-sun lotion, Evian facial spray, bug repellent, mouthwash, and pretty much every small item you might need but usually forget. Add in a Nespresso machine and blackout shades, and the rooms feel thoughtfully set up. Service Service is consistently excellent. Friendly, polite, and always willing to help. Nothing feels forced, just genuinely good hospitality. Food & Dining Breakfast is served under a large thatched roof right by the water, which sets the tone nicely. The buffet has a wide mix of Mexican and American options, and at around $30, it feels worth it for both the setting and the variety. Dinner was more hit or miss. I tried one of the oceanfront restaurants with a Mediterranean feel. Beautiful setting, disappointing food. The guacamole lacked flavor, and the picanha was overcooked and tough. Definitely not on par with the rest of the hotel. The Spa The spa is a highlight. Great setting, excellent treatments, and a nice bonus: when you book a massage, you get access to the spa facilities for two days. That includes steam room, sauna, plunge pools, and other amenities that make it easy to spend a full afternoon there. Overall Presidente InterContinental Cozumel Resort & Spa is a strong choice if you're looking for a relaxed, well-appointed stay on the island. Great rooms, great service, and a setting that makes it easy to unwind. Just be selective about where you eat on property.

Another trip to Cozumel, another stay at El Cid. The big update since our last visit in 2016 is…read morethat the rooms have been renovated and are much more spacious now. The hotel staff is great and we will continue to come here in the future. There is an all-inclusive option for food, and I highly recommend it so you don't have to chase a meal - the food was very good for what I expected. The only complaint came from my wife. She loves hammocks, and the water under the hammocks was stagnant and smelly. It seems like the waterfall is out of commission and lack of water circulation made it a place that you wouldn't want to hang out in.

Rant coming. Bought 2 day passes for an excursion for $160…read more It was to include drinks and food. Bar service was so slow we ended up only getting 2 drinks and chips and guacamole. Mind you, we were there for 3 hours. The beach was dirty, with spilled food in the sand, creating an ant issue. The outdoor restroom had no toilet seat, just the bowl. Gross. The real crappy part is they required I leave my ID at the front desk while we were there, even though they photocopied my passport. I made the huge mistake and left to go back to ship without it. I didn't realize it until later that night after we left port. When we returned to the US, I called and asked them to mail it to me. They would send it to me alright, FOR $150!!! One hundred and fifty dollars!! Incredible. Not only was the resort a mess, especially for the price but they can't put my ID in a standard white envelope and send it to the address on the license. I'll send them the stinking dollar for postage. I will never recommend El Cid resorts to anyone.

We inquired about reserving a Bali bed and were informed they were an additional $400 per day, and that it would be best to upgrade our room to the Royal Tower for an extra $250 per person for the entire stay, so we did. However, we weren't offered a welcome drink, which was disappointing. Isaias at the front desk was polite and helpful, but our wristbands weren't programmed correctly, so we had to walk back to have them fixed--annoying after a long day of travel. Membership Sales (Be Warned!) If you're approached about a "quick 90-minute tour" in exchange for perks (massage credit, excursion discount), skip it. We were approached by Maria after breakfast on our first morning and agreed, but it turned into a high-pressure sales pitch that lasted nearly two hours. We were handed off to seven different salespeople, each trying to wear us down--even after we clearly said no. One rep told me not to be "rude" when I pointed out our 90 minutes were up. We finally had to walk out. Google reviews were right--this process is aggressive and uncomfortable. Not worth it. Butler Service Butlers are available from 8am-6pm. Initially, communication was poor--we weren't contacted by the promised 10am and had to follow up in person to find out who our butlers were (Jessica and Yahaira). After some delays, we met Jessica, and she was outstanding. She created a WhatsApp group, communicated clearly in both English and Spanish, and provided 5-star service for the rest of our stay. She handled dinner reservations, made great recommendations, and reserved a Bali bed for us daily. She truly elevated our experience--tip her well! Dining * La Veranda (buffet): Fermin at the grill was amazing--super efficient and friendly! Great omelets and breakfast tacos. * Flor de Sal (Mexican): Excellent cappuccinos and kind service (shout-out to Jesús), but we waited over 30 minutes for breakfast. * Koi Oriental (Asian): The hibachi show was fun and service was good, but food was just OK--lukewarm and small portions. * Café Sole: Great spot for ice cream, pastries, sandwiches, and coffee. Nice for quick snacks. Adult Pool Bar The team at the adult pool--Belmai (bartender), Fanny (waitress), and Santiago (waiter)--were awesome. Attentive, friendly, and really created a fun, relaxed atmosphere. Excellent service all around! Beach Visited in mid-July and unfortunately the seaweed was a major issue. The beach was closed 4 out of 5 days due to brown water and heavy buildup. Thankfully, the current cleared it enough on our last day to enjoy the waves. Having a Bali bed made our beach time more comfortable, even when the water wasn't swimmable. Check-Out Smooth and stress-free. Jessica coordinated everything with the bellboy and arranged our taxi. We were able to have lunch and enjoy a drink at Cassis Bar before heading out. A great end to a mixed experience. Final Thoughts There are definite highlights--especially Jessica's butler service and the adult pool team--but the hard-sell membership pitch and initial disorganization were major downsides. If you avoid the sales trap and get a good butler, your stay can be quite enjoyable.

The resort was kept tidy, although I saw several guests throwing trash on the grounds rather than the bins for rubbish (strange). It's a beautiful jungle-like atmosphere. There are 3 pools. All were a little chilly. The hot-tubs were not very hot. The beach is kinda crowded, but nice. There is an area to snorkel just off the beach. Snorkel equipment is free to use. The food was diverse. It was Mexico's spin on some American, Italian and Asian standards. Not really authentic if you have traveled to those places. We never went hungry. The drinks were good. The staff was always helpful and aimed to please. I recommend renting a car for a day or two and driving around the island. The resort has free overnight parking for guests. Really a beautiful experience.

We booked multiple nights and after finding this out it was a night mare to work with the owner for a refund. The owner kept asking for our bank account and routing number which i wouldn't give to anyone. She asked multiple times for our bank account while talking to a woman on the phone who was suppose to be I.T. This sounded like a scam to steal more of our money because they could not cancel the transaction on their credit card machine. The woman owner tried to swipe our credit card multiple time saying she was trying to process a refund. After I called my credit card company she was trying to charge the same charge again instead of doing a refund. What a total scam and thank goodness my bank was smart enough to not allow charges to go through. hotels.com/ expedia gave us a credit for the inconvenience but whatever you do, do not rent from this location or use your debit card. It is not walking distance to downtown and taxi cost about $10 us dollars to and from. The food that is walking distance is okay, stay closer to town. It is worth paying extra to stay in town. Lastly when we did go in the room to check it out. The safe was no good to keep valuables safe and the bed felt like very firm. The water pressure is the shower was low.
