Located on Rt 22 in the heart of Monroeville in the Jonnet Plaza. A nice spot recently moved into a bigger location but still in the same plaza. There's a wide variety of new and vintage collectibles. From comic books to costumes, a little bit of everything for a variety of collectors tastes. They have a huge collection of Funko Pops, video games, action figures, cd's, dvd's, and even musical instruments. Definitely a good stop for any collector that needs to find that set collection finishing piece. Helpful and friendly staff are there to help with any questions you may have. I'll definitely return soon to dig deeper into the vast collections to buy something I don't really need, haha. Came here to sell an unopened, unused game and to buy some more games. I knew I wouldn't get what it was worth, but I was surprised at how little I was offered. Like I said, it had never been played and was still in its original, unopened packaging. I got $10 of store credit (would have been even less had I wanted the cash instead) for a $70 game. I took the store credit and went shopping. There were four people working, and only one (a young girl with half black and half red hair) offered to help me find what I was looking for. She was really friendly and helpful, which is why I gave two stars instead of just one. She climbed on a ladder to get things that were out of my reach and never complained about me being a pain. I got what I wanted and then someone else check me out. He wasn't rude, but he wasn't particularly friendly, either. I was eager to be done and out of there. I haven't been back. There's another store just a few doors down that basically does the same thing, Guy on the Couch, that also buys and sells games. I'll go there instead. Or Half Price Books. read more

I give this place a bit of credit. I mean it is kind of like the new generation video store. We have graduated from Blockbuster to this. This is where you come to browse titles and select what you want, the only difference is that you don't really have to return if you don't want to. But if you do return it, you will get a bit of money out of the item. I came in here looking for a fairly difficult movie to find. I decided to browse for myself first to see if I might surprise myself and find it. However after about ten minutes of looking through different sections, I gave up. I didn't leave the store, I just made my way to the front counter. When I got there I asked if they had the title in house and if they could look company wide so I didn't have to stop at other locations and waste my or their time again. They obliged and I found out that it was not anywhere in the company. Saved me time and frustration. On my way out they gave me their card and told me to call at a later date to check if they might have gotten it in their stock, but I don't have my hopes up. read more

I'm 63 years old, disabled, use a cane & have diabetes. I still love hard rock & metal like Iron Maiden, Clutch, Motorhead etc. I also love movies. My Dad ran a series of theaters in El Paso Texas on Ft. Bliss when I was a kid. I've been shopping The Exchange since 1989. Whenever I make the trip to Monroeville I have a $100.00 bill set aside for The Exchange. I've had a music collection of one sort or another since I was 5 years old. I currently have 2700+CD's and 2300+ DVD/Blu-ray. A lot of them came from The Exchange. I've found some real gems in the budget section. So I really don't have anything to snivel about in that department. So, here's my snivel, I've been loyal to these guys going on 33 years. I have health problems, heart attacks, concussions, cancer, hernias, you get the point. I have an over active bladder. I've pleaded with these people to PLEASE put in a public toilet. I know they have the facilities. But they tell me to go to the place next door. It used to be, go to Big Lots. Frankly it's not the other establishments problem. I'm SPENDING my money at The Exchange. I haven't shopped there in a while. The covid has had a lot to do with that. But the fact they disrespect the surrounding business's with their problem. The disrespect they show me, and I'm sure other customers shopping The Exchange is inexcusable. C'mon you guys, you can do your customers a solid, open up a WC for YOUR clients. What's the problem, to much work, lazy. what? Give an old man a break. Ya know, I was gonna give you 3 stars. But the more I write....2 stars instead. I'd love to give you 5 stars. I really love this store...BUT I give it three stars because of the employees (or their store policy). If you want to browse through their vinyl records..and you look like me (middle-age dude with long hair) they will watch you like a hawk. This one little brunette chick will act like she's broswing the records right beside you. I tested it...I stopped looking at them and she stopped. I went back and she came back. Look up anything in the store online and it will be much cheaper. Most overpriced store in existence. The workers hover around you and won't leave you alone. The company is run by hipsters and it shows. All the employees are hipsters, and the prices are outrageous because they think because it's "retro" it's worth more. It didn't used to be like this. I remember going and getting older retro games for like $1-$2 a piece and the most popular retro games cost no more than $20. Now....FORGET IT. The cheapest, worst games they have are $5 and the aforementioned popular games are now like $50! Used Blu-ray movies cost the same as brand new ones, it's laughable. Every time I have had an issue with an item they have given me a hasstle when returning the item also. I didn't even touch on the trade in prices. Oh boy....worse than Gamestop. You're at the bar with some friends arguing about who was best when we were kids at Mario Kart 64. Soon your honor is challenged and you feel the drunken need to defend your crown because you're still stuck in 5th grade and N64 is still life. But wait it's 2015 and you can't just go rent an N64 system at Blockbuster these days. Your mother gave your old system away and you only have $37.12 in your pocket. And that's where the exchange comes in. I bought a system for $25 and snatched up some reasonably priced controllers and a "new" CD for the car. The place is a trip down electronic memory lane. If you hate gamestop this is Gandalf the white to their Sarumon the White. CDs, vinyls, comic books, SNES, Sega, all the way through Xbox one and PS4, and mountains of collectibles. $35 Wiis and unopened $250 editions of Bomberman 64, pokemon Red, Blue, Yellow, Just anything you want they probably have. I've never sold anything here but I'm sure you don't get a ton but the prices are so good it's worth buying. read more

On 2/19/2021, I walked out of The Exchange, Monroeville store without doing business. No deal. Reason ? In this day and age with everyone going bad, I refused to show my ID to some store employee who asked to see it, some guy who I don't even know. I'm not in a habit of doing that. For my personal safety, I was not going to show my ID to a stranger just to sell some old CD's. This guy was not going to steal my personal information and get my pension before I do. I don't know if this is the store's policy or some sinister attempt by The Exchange to stereotype certain folks. If this is store policy it should be posted throughout the store. I went into The Exchange with 50 rare CD's. I came out of the The Exchange believing that I was being stereotyped. I refused to show my ID and walked out with my CD's in hand. I'm a record collector who sell to Jerry's, Squirrel Hill. Jerry never asked me for my ID. The store employee never looked at my CD's he wanted to see my ID before looking at the CD's and never told me what the store was paying for old CD's.. What kind of crap is that????? There is no law in PA that requires you to show ID for the sell of CD's and the local police department can not issue this type of law to store owners. The police enforce the law, they do not make laws. The Exchange want to blame the Monroeville Police Department but I think it's more sinister than that. I'm not buying The Exchange stupid reason for denying me service and not buying my CD's worth over $500 on Ebay. Ebay here I come, You don't have to show ID to buy or sell on Ebay. I'll tell ya why I love this place......if we want something, a hard to find movie, album, game, system, anything!......I go and find it here OR they look it up and say "I can have it in a few days"......and they call me when it's in.......we spend alot of money there and they treat us like gold......NOT ONCE has an employee been rude or anything with me.....they are very available and helpful.....and some of them talk to my hubby about games and stuff and they are right there with him (as opposed to myself, games are not my thing lol)..... I like the place for the vinyl, lots of CDs, horror movies and sets of complete tv show series......and the memorabilia items, tshirts......just a neat place to look around and nice employees.... read more

Simply some of the most atrocious pricing of used games, I would say second only to ebay but employees who do trades are INSTRUCTED to check the highest ebay listing price and add anywhere from 5 to 15 dollars on top of that. Plus tax. Yeah, they'll take in your trades for a third of what they're supposedly worth and on top of that have the nerve to charge tax for used goods. There is absolutely no benefit to trading in your used games, dvds etc here when it's so easy to open up an ebay account and gain momentum with feedback selling small stuff first. Maybe then you could help deflate the used game pricing bubble and ask for less than other sellers. anything like that is a commendable effort to stop retail chains like these from screwing over customers who don't know and don't care better. Of course I'm speaking idealistically but there is no slowing down or stopping the video game price gouging bubble, soon it'll reach critical mass and all but the most dedicated collectors will refuse to pay $130 for smash Bros meele. The Exchange in Monroeville used to be a must-visit every time I was in town. Its got a decent selection of new and old media, games, collectibles, and more. The prices overall aren't the best, but here and there one can find decent deals. The problem I have with this store is the staff. They are rude and clearly dont care about the customers. I bought an old ps2 game and when I gave it a try at home it didnt work. No big deal- its an old game! So when I came in the next weekend to get a new one, I was totally refused when I asked if they could test the new one. It takes 3 minutes to pop the game in a ps2 and its an hour and half drive for me to get to monroeville. Still denied. Thankfully, the new copy of the game worked so I wont have to visit the store again. I would recommend just buying online or visiting a different Exchange! read more
