My Soulsborne haul.

Absolutely adore this local shop! Been coming for years & happy to support it. Yes, you might have to wait a bit to trade your items - but their offers are fair & their offerings are in FAR better condition than GameStop. Staff is friendly & not trying to push any sales on you. Knowledgeable too! There's retro to next gen game & console offerings, movies & music - you might stumble on same rare finds. Definitely worth a look. Stop by next time you're in the area! You won't be disappointed.

From the atmosphere to the friendly customers service, this is the place to shop! Had a amazing worker name nick help us trade in items and was able to improve my store credit to get some gamecube. Most of the retro gaming items are market price but il rather buy from them instead of getting ripped off on ebay.

A cabinet of retro goodness!

Ask the Community - The Exchange

What is parking like?

It's a nightmare but you'll find something if you're patient and decided to go there during peak hours. The neighborhood isn't the best either so be careful and lock your car. There is street and meter parking and the train station is right there,…

Does the exchange buy games?

Yes it does!

I stopped by the Wabash and Belmont locations of this store, but for Belmont specifically, this…read morestore is a MUST for vinyl, CD, cassette, and game collectors. The store is extremely big, the service was quick and things were easy to find utilizing the store website, reckless.com. The prices were pretty average, around $15 for a new CD and $30 for vinyl. I didn't check the prices for cassettes, but I'm sure they were great. They also had posters of popular albums, featuring art from various artists. They also had used console games, for Xbox One, PS4, retro Nintendo consoles, and I even saw a few SEGA Dreamcast games! This place is nothing short of heaven for music lovers!

DO NOT TRUST THEIR GRADING OR LABELS!!!…read more I stopped by for the first time a couple of weeks ago to check the place out. They have a nice variety of albums, but unfortunately, my experience has been less than impressive. The day I stopped in, I purchased what was labeled as a 1968 "Near Mint" copy of Days of Future Passed by The Moody Blues. When I got home, I discovered significant noise throughout the first third of Side A. Since I live in the suburbs, I wasn't able to get back into the city for two weeks. They did take the record back, but because their return policy is only one week, they would only offer store credit rather than a refund. They took the record back, and I found a "Near Mint" copy of the 2012 remaster of The Beatles' White Album. The label specifically stated "w/ poster & photos." I even asked an employee about it before purchasing it, and they confirmed that the poster and photos were included. Sure enough, I got home, opened it, and neither the poster nor the photos were there. Needless to say, I'll be returning this record, and I won't be coming back. Two purchases, two significant issues with the condition or contents being inaccurately represented.

I was told I would receive a call the following day once it was tested. After receiving no update, I called the store myself and was told my offer was ready and to come in. After driving over 40 minutes, I was informed in person that you could not accept the console due to a fan issue--information that should have been communicated over the phone. Additionally, during a previous visit to sell a collection of Naruto Funko Pops and manga, I explicitly asked to complete the transaction that day to avoid another trip. Despite assurances, I was kept waiting until closing time, only to be given a rushed and surprisingly low offer. Clear communication and respect for customers' time are essential. I hope you will address these issues to improve your service going forward.

Sorry, no Lawrence Welk or Jim Nabors albums here. I haven't even mentioned the video aspect of things sold here or the books (music reference and personalities). I finally visited unabridged bookstore! It is definitely worth the hype. This place is HUGE,…read morehousing so many different genres, authors, and books for everyone. Browsing for books is one of my favorite past times and I could have spent a loooot of time in here. Being a mom to a two year-old I especially love looking for new books for him. I was able to find one of my favorites here-- where the wild things are. We have since read it every single night before bed for the past two weeks. It continues to be a smash hit. I also grabbed him one of the books from the little critter series that I loved as a kid. He really likes that one too. I only had about 15 minutes to look around, so I definitely need to make another trip to dedicated to finding some books for myself, but I was happy to support this local shop by purchasing some classics for my kiddo.

I have very mixed feelings about this bookstore…read more If you're a big reader of fiction, as I am, you'll find the selection to be first-rate. There are large sections devoted to Penguin Classics, Modern Library, NYRB, and so forth, and a good selection of mystery, horror and science fiction novels. But the non-fiction side of the shop is pathetic. The guiding principle seems to be, "we only stock books that will make our readers comfortable. Books that will tell them what they already think they know. Books that won't challenge them. Books that will teach them nothing new." The entire purpose is to offer customers only those world views that they're already in agreement with -- uniformly Leftist, naively "socialist," anti-capitalist, and anti-Western civilization. And, needless to say, there's a heavy emphasis on sentimental Palestinianism. It's a suffocatingly narrow-minded approach. A bookshop should be a place to discover new ideas and new perspectives. Not a place to have one's dated orthodoxies and narrow-minded perspectives confirmed. If you're in search of books that will confirm your biases and comfort you in your prejudices, it's the bookstore for you. If you want to be intellectually challenged, you'd be better off going to Barnes and Noble, which carries a wide range of authors with differing viewpoints. (Yes, a "big chain" bookstore is more indie than the indie competition!) It has wider aisles too, and friendlier and less condescending clerks.
