I signed my lease blind from out of state the very first year and Todd was incredibly accommodating and understanding of the situation, and went out of his way to send me extra pictures of the apartment both inside and out so I knew what I was getting when I signed (this was before video tours were a common thing). When I moved out of that apartment to a bigger one with TLT, Todd happily showed me every unit I had even a little interest in so I could make whatever choice was best and went over the honest pros and cons of each as we went through them. From a renter perspective, TLT is fantastic. Maintenance requests were always taken care of within a few days, and the few times where a very serious issue happened (i.e., pipes bursting) maintenance was there on the same-day to make sure no damage was done to anything inside the apartment. Huge shout out to Jim and Andy for always taking care of things. Any time there was any situation with extenuating circumstances for either me or my roommates over the years Todd was always very understanding and flexible and always genuinely tried to work to help make things work seamlessly. We always had plenty of heads up when our apartment was going to be shown, and there was constant communication in all of the move out / move in processes. I really can't say enough good things about Todd / TLT and the experience I had renting from him. If you have the option to rent from TLT over any other group, do it, you won't regret it.

Also, the grounds are super well kept but that's because they have people they contract out to CONSTANTLY mowing the lawns with extremely loud lawnmowers and because the parking is near grass patches, they kick the grass up onto your cars and leave them like that. They also come often and not only during the day (which is fine if you DON'T work from home) but sometimes they come during the early hours on Saturday's or Sunday's, so if you want to sleep in... it ain't gonna happen.

We were still moving boxes in from the truck and their repair man already came and fixed it! Within an hour of the call! They come regularly to do things like change the heat AV filters, check fire alarms and smoke and co2 detectors. They sent annual chimney cleaners, because our unit has a fireplace. We called them because there had been break ins in the area and our front door could be picked with a credit card. They had both doors secured with metal lock plates by the next day! We just signed another year lease and now they offered to steam clean the carpets for free. We are very happy here! And we will only rent from these guys from here on!

I did not feel comfortable with those repeated requests and, I would have appreciated having my preferences respected. Overall, my experience left me feeling frustrated and disappointed. It's a quiet building with considerate neighbors, and the landlord, John Hamilton, is fantastic and has always been great about having things fixed as soon as they break. It's in a beautiful area with brick streets and tons of trees, and West Side Park is only a block away. It always felt like a really safe area, and despite having things shipped to me all the time I only had one package go missing in 7 years (compared to where I live now, where I had 2 packages stolen in the first month). Units have wall air conditioners and dishwashers, and there's parking in the back, with covered parking available for a small charge (great in winter). My unit also had a ceiling fan in the bedroom and a huge walk-in closet I mostly used for storage. Downtown Champaign and a couple of bus lines are within close walking distance, with Illinois Terminal just a few more blocks out, and the university and the big commercial centers north of I-74 on Neil and Prospect are a short drive away.

Between all of the beautiful trees and green grass and the truly stunning lake that sits in the middle of the complex - I feel like I'm returning to my hotel everyday instead of my apartment. The apartments - the apartments are very well priced for the area and their size. They're on the higher end but they're reasonable. They are truly beautiful from the crown molding to the details in arched pass-throughs or fireplaces. The heating and cooling system is individually controlled so you always can have your home the temperature that you would like. The tall ceilings make you feel like you're living in a mansion. The best part about living at Baytowne however, are the people in charge of the property. This is something I NEVER thought I would have the pleasure of saying about a leasing office. When you call - they answer and they respond. I always felt like my voice was heard, I always knew that I had someone I could ask questions to who would be more than happy to chat with me.
