I had no idea what I wanted beyond knowing that I didn't like what I had. Katy knew exactly what to do based on a few shoddily strung together adjectives - she gave me the most lovely colour job of my life, and the cut is perfect. Nearly six weeks later, it's still looking pretty great because she was so meticulous and seemed to know precisely what my hair needed and how it would fall. Worth the price all the way. Popped back in later that day for a shellac manicure which was also very well done, and I left absolutely pleased. Go let the ladies at Medusa work their magic on your hair. Seriously, go now!

I have very unruly super curly hair and always wanted it long but it never grew passed my shoulders. So I gave her freedom to do whatever. She made is short and so easy to maintain!!! I am going back tomorrow now three months later :) Also she does not tell me what I have to do, but works around how I treat my hair which is great. She said 'I cant train your hands', which makes sense as I am used to moving through my hair in a certain way for ages now. It has a laid back style and homey feeling to it- no extreme shiny surfaces or too many posters of hair models draping the walls. If you are getting hair dyed you can hang out on their comfy couches with coffee/tea. I have had my hair cut three times here. The first two I was quite pleased with , the last was ok- I only ever get a trim so nothing too drastic was required but somehow it wasn't a great cut. They do have a student deal and offer services of head massage , manicure/pedicure and other massages. Prices can vary depending on the service- probably the most relaxing hair wash I have ever had, but careful on offers for head massage etc as this will be added to your bill in the end and lead to a possible unpleasant suprise. Other than that, lovely atmosphere! Book in advance is advisable, although twice they have managed to fit me in when I dropped by.

Now what good hair is, will be a subjective point of view, but for me it is manageable and generally shiny and healthy looking as a result of a great cut. I first reviewed Angel Hairdressing about 3 months ago on my first visit. It's a local salon and after standing by it waiting for the bus for 2 years, I decided to give it a go when my budget couldn't stretch to a posh town salon do. So now, it is review No.200 and it had to be a 5 * review. Even though I my last hair cut was 3 months ago - I hadn't actually reached hair crisis point. My style had held perfectly even when growing and it was only as it really started to thicken up again (and growing very quickly) that I decided to cut it back again. It is probably the first hair cut that I've had where I've left a salon, the do has lasted a good few days before I had to wash and dry myself and it has been something I have been able to recreate myself, abet in Claire form, and not hairdresser form. Again - same fab cut. It is a small salon with one sink and 4 chairs. There are two stylists - Lisa who I think is the owner and Kerry who cuts my hair and who I think is fab. Same wet and dry cut as before - still in about 50 minutes even though my shape from last time had still held well, so again, great attention to detail to ensure my hair is perfect. Fab friendly and cheery service and great prices - still £28 for a cut and blow dry and I think it is under £15 for a wash and blow dry. It is not a tea/coffee and a biccy type place but to be honest, I never got the chance to have that any time before as when the cutting starts, that lean forward to get the cuppa could result in hair catastrophe and I'm not stupid enough to risk that. Busy weekend ahead with work and catching up with friends and I'm enjoying my glossy, well cut hair. Secondly of course would be the lovely staff. I've been served by the same hairdresser both my trips, and she remembered me the second go round, which makes for a pleasant welcome. Size-wise, It's a small joint, but more than enough room for the ladies to perform their miracles, and it feels reasonably homey inside. What seals the deal for me is the prices are totally reasonable--I've seen some places that make my eyes practically roll back in my head around town, and I've never been one to willingly shell out a week's paycheck for my hair. But Angel has fair prices to match the excellent service. My first go featured a simple cut, the second, a full coloring, and I'd give five stars to each venture. This is definitely my go-to salon! Extra perk: I was offered a cup of coffee or tea while waiting for my color to set. Don't mind if I do!

She asked if I had any aches & pains, or any lingering injuries etc, and then you get to choose how firm you want it. What's not to love?! The only criticism I have, in fact, is the background music they had playing whilst I was having my massage. Note to Hair Joy... it doesn't matter if I'm half asleep, I never ever want to listen to Celine Dion's greatest hits from start to finish. Again.

She only got a trim, nothing too drastic, but at times even this can be challenging as hair dresses are bored and can get carried away. Not in this place. They cut her hair just as much as she wanted and needed and even gave her a good student deal. It's not terribly big or flashy but it gets the job done.
