Style AND Substance. The first thing that sets Freddy Antabi's salon apart from the other 'top' salons in Edinburgh (of which I had visited many before I found this one!) is the friendliness of the staff. There are no celebrity wannabes checking out what you're wearing in this salon. You are met with open smiles by staff that excel in customer service and know their job inside and out. It is evident that Freddy hand picks only the very best to work with him, and also that he puts the time and energy into his staff to be the best they can be. The result is a very positive vibe, happy staff and most importantly happy customers. I had tried many expensive salons in Edinburgh prior to finding Freddy and the result was always the same, I'd leave out of pocket with an identikit haircut to those of most of the hairdressers working there! Awful! I can genuinely say that each and every time I have left Freddy Antabi's salon, I have had the cut and colour I have asked for, which is so refreshing. Freddy and his staff really listen to what the customer want, they don't fire out 'fashion cuts' unless that's what the customer asks for. Freddy's salon is very competitively priced compared to some Edinburgh salons; you get the added bonus of leaving with a style that makes you feel fabulous. You can't put a price on that! He looks after his customers, regularly offering fantastic discounts for high quality treatments. The salon offers only the best quality of products and services. Quality is something I have noticed that Freddy doesn't compromise on. For example, I'm sure he could get many customers through the door by offering extensions that are glued in but he only offers the type that are woven in, which are much better for the scalp and long term hair of the customer. The salon itself oozes style, glamour and sophistication yet it has been done in an understated way which makes you feel instantly calm and relaxed as soon as you walk through the door. There is no pretention at all. I feel happy bringing my 4 year old daughter to the salon and recently brought a friend who had her 2 year old nephew with her, the staff brought him crayons and a colouring book and we were not made to feel as though he was in the way at any time which was really nice. I think the fact that I no longer live in Edinburgh and regularly travel over 100 miles to have my hair done by Freddy is testament in itself as to what a fantastic salon this is. read more

I've been going to Freddy Antabi now and having my hair cut with Freddy for over five years, and can't recommend it enough. I used to move around salons, or find a stylist that I liked in a larger chain, and then they would leave or get promoted every few months and become more and more expensive. I would never trust a hairdresser to try a new style after some bad experiences with hair experiments when I was younger, and having hairdressers do crazy things to my hair that they should never have done - but trust Freddy Antabi that if he suggests a new style, shape or fringe will look good on me - it always does and I get loads of compliments on cut after have it done and styled. Freddy has done my hair for many big awards, including the Scottish Style Awards, Scottish Fashion Awards, and he's won awards in London for his styling in London and been sent to New York to do photo shoots. Having said that the salon is anything but pretentious, staff are always friendly, and supporting such a talented local hairdresser, who works so hard is very easy. I moved to New York last year and still wait until I return home to visit Edinburgh to get my hair cut here, having tried a salon in New York paid way more money for a cut and it still wasn't anywhere near as good. read more

just had my hair cut there today and to say i won't be back is an understatement. i bought a groupon voucher for here as figured for a cheap trim it would be worth a go. the young man on the desk was fab and he also gave me a glorious head massage,but the hairdresser was quite arrogant about himself and felt that my preferences were of no importance to him.i mentioned a preference for my hair parting which he ignored and as a result of it not following my natural parting(which my hair had always fell into for the past 5 years) i have parts of my hair that haven't been cut properly and looks a mess,i have also now had the misfortune to notice that the hairline at my neck(i have a short haircut) has been cut into the most awful point and is squint!! its been cut well in as i requested(and the only thing i'm happy with),but as a result of this i will have to wait a good couple of weeks with a terrible haricut before i can get the damage fixed, will never recommend this hairdresser!! it gets 2 stars simply for the very polite,helpful and professional young gentleman on the desk. refer to my profile picture for said hairline and make your own decision on whether this hairdresser is worth the money!! read more

I've been using FA for about two years now and wouldn't use anyone else in Edinburgh. I first turned up on their doorstep following a total disaster where my friend had bleached my hair and just about torched my head in the process. I looked like a radioactive scarecrow, and that isn't remotely an over exaggeration. They took me in and spent about 5 hours saving, cutting and dying my hair back to some kind of normality. I was astonished how much hair they saved and how conditioned it looked considering the damage I'd done and the bill was tiny despite the fact I'd needed every specialist they had and spent most of the day taking up valuable chair space! can't rate this place high enough. Freddy Antabi must be the first salon in a long while that I look forward to visiting. The relaxed ambience is one of the first things you notice and the staff are all very friendly and welcoming. The level of customer care is exceptionally high and Freddy himself leads the way with his amazing rapport with clients. All I can say that I had the most amazing experience at Freddy Antabi's Salon from the time I was greeted till the time I walked out. I felt I was a queen, Freddy did my hair and must say that my hair colour and cut were absolutely gorgeous ( soooo stylish). The staff were really friendly and nice. I think the price is justified. Amazing hair dresser, always leave satisfied. Staff are extremely friendly and customer orientated. Definitely my only choice in hairdressers.
