From the very first day I began living in an unbelievably beautiful 2 bedroom apartment there, I knew this was were I needed to be, my sanctuary, my space, my solace. Jewels is the manager here and she just couldn't have been better. She can be very busy, taking care of so many, but will always acknowledge you and will make time to listen and ensure whatever your need, regarding this apartment community, will be followed through. I have since purchased a property and when I needed to move out of my Reserves apartment it was sad as I was finding my happiness and calm energy once again in such a beautiful environment. This was my place and it honestly provided everything I needed at the time to feel confident and proud of where I had chosen to live. I need to give a shout out to Jim. He is the main maintenance person at The Reserves at Pilot Butte. Jim is fantastic. He always has a smile and "hello", every time we may have crossed paths on the property. If I ever had a need for a repair, he always delivered a timely outline of what I needed and was always on time and solved any issue, (Although repair or other issues are very rare here) or at least we as tenants may not even be aware because things are resolved quickly. Jim always makes you feel at home. Well actually Jewels and everyone make you feel at home and part of a unique community. I was sad to leave (The Reserves, my Sanctuary), but I appreciate so much the place and the people who made life easier. Thank you guys! Jewels, you ROCK! If you're looking for an extremely well manicured, thoughtfully designed beautiful space and great managers & neighbors, this is Home!

Overall I'm satisfied with The Reserve's. The price is a bit on the high side and being here three…read moreyears there has been nothing in return for the price increase. The property is partially developed, which is a mystery to me, since new buildings are going up across the street, and the empty lots look really trashy. However, Julia and Heide (and maintenance) are very responsive to any requests., which hasn't been that many. They have an online payment process and maintenance request, which would be nice to use for making payments, but for me it's not working and has been "investigated" for over 3 months now. The units themselves are quite nice and the garage is a blessing in the winter. Again, overall I'm glad I'm here.

No a gym, no hot tub, not even cable in the common area! Our unit was FAR from being ready when we moved in..... it was dirty, un painted, carpets were not cleaned, gas was turned off, air conditioning wasn't working (we moved in the middle of August) and it took quite a long time ( over a month later) for these issues to be completely resolved. You can get a MUCH nicer home....just as good of a location and be happier someplace else!

Moving large amounts of boxes and furniture into and out of this building is hard and time consuming enough with waiting for the elevator without the burden of stopping to open the electronically locked doors after every trip to the truck. I'm astonished that she asked my employee 'Can you read?' What an insult! On top of talking down to everyone around, the audacity of this woman to claim that the door will 'break' from being held open(by doorstops provided and marked as property of 'The Plaza') has been a huge downside in my day. It is not every day that I've had to endure this woman's attitude of superiority, but it has been my burden every day that I've moved someone out or in to the building.

It has been a great transitional experience here at Hixon Yard after selling our Bend home. Yes,…read morethis place offers an unmatched living experience in Bend and the staff here have been outstanding. Shout out to KILEY Thompson who is an amazing ambassador to Avenue 5 the parent company, we just cannot say enough great things about her positive and helpful attitude. Everyone at Hixon has been great including maintenance. From Move in (Samantha) to Move out (Kiley) it has all been run very professionally. LOCATION: incredible if you're into everything you need being just below you or very near to you. I mean everything including public transportation. Walking distant to Old Mill, Galveston Area, and Downtown. Food Food Food, herb shops, bars, nail salon, massage, workout, juice bar, market, liquor store... and big name concerts. When we move out in a few days I am on a diet this place is so much fun and it shows. Since 95% + of the people who love or work here have no idea; we shopped at Ray's Market back in the day, I think our unit was 6 floors above the vegetable section... Bend history, long story, and a big snow storm 2017, check it out. QUALITY of UNITS: We lived in a 6th floor one bedroom (West Facing) as we were waiting on our two bedroom two bath unit with a large deck with garage door on the 6th floor, which was great and we've been there a little over a year. BUILDOUT: The buildout is about what would be expected, very nice and 6th floor units offer nicer appliances and a few other upgrades but more expensive of course. AMENITIES of HIXON: Aside from the Residents Lounge on the 6th floor, there is a fire pit on the first floor as well. One of the best espresso bars is also located in the lobby on the first floor. There is a nice large indoor / outdoor lounge area on the first floor and dog or goat run just outside as well. I have not actually seen any goats ; ) STAFF: Very Professional and attentive to every need. Yes, it is easy to criticize as a few residents (very small percentage) here are lazy slobs and create unnecessary work for the staff and add stress for some residents who then complain in reviews but get real kids you're messing with people's jobs for no reason... so annoying but the staff deals with these situations and rolls with it, not sure how they do it I think they all need a raise. OVERALL VALUE: Very good, it is equitable, this is not an inexpensive place to live but easily you could live here without a car and commute walking, biking, or public transportation. There is paid underground parking (recommended) for cars and MC as well as a huge bike storage area. TIP: Think about the Sun and how it will affect your enjoyment and power bill for AC. We feel the North exposure is best as it is quiet and there is no direct sun. It does get a bit noisy early on the west and South facing units as the garbage company lets you know they're working at 4 am on Wednesdays. There are only 6 two bed two bath units with the garage door decks, I think the best are 613, 615 (best), 617, and 618 which has no deck. See you Hixon it's been fun!

It was our last resort. Literally. I walked into our unit for the first time once we were handed…read morethe keys and it immediately smelled like cigarette smoke from the previous tenants. Within the first week we cleaned grime and gunk from every window in the unit by hand, yet I'm betting management made sure to hit the previous tenants with the "cleaning fee" during their move-out. Maintenance did a great job creating a facade of cleanliness and orderliness of the apartment grounds by using a leaf blower to stir dust and dirt around in the stairwells, yet if you had a maintenance request in the unit, best of luck to you. During winter we had a leak in the window of the second bedroom due to all the rain and snowfall of the season and it leaked onto our furniture and personal items. Thankfully, we put in a maintenance request to get it fixed before more damage could be done. I am happy to report our maintenance request was eventually honored....in the middle of March...by one elderly crew member walking into the room and saying they would call someone to get it caulked from the outside....oh and that didn't get done for another month. Stellar job maintenance crew. In terms of management, yikes! Move out procedure was difficult as we had to call multiple times to get updates on what needed to be done for moving out. It seemed there was a clear level of disinterest in us as tenants once we were no longer providing more cashflow for the apartment owner. We spent a full day after we moved out sweeping, scrubbing, mopping the floors, cleaning the windows (we weren't gonna get dinged for window grime), vacuuming the floors, cleaning the bathrooms, you get the idea. It was real awesome getting 1/4 of our deposit back for "cleaning fees, painting fees, and carpet repair". I guess no matter what we will get charged for window grime. Don't forget I said the apartment was disgusting and grimy when we first moved in. We tried the whole "leave it better than you found it" approach but either we are blind or they are greedy. I will say we did have one cat that scratched some of the carpet in the second bedroom entry way, but $400 to repair an entry way? Maybe I should get into the carpet repair business if it's that lucrative, or maybe management is being dishonest and up-charging repairs. We were charged at a previous residence for the same thing, but to the tune of $150, which was understandable and we took responsibility without complaint. Management will bite you any chance they get to keep as much of your deposit as possible. So even though they say small nail-holes are allowed, it turns out you're going to get charged for cleaning and painting. What an absolute joke. This was a literal last resort for us and we are happy to have moved out of there. If you're a prospective tenant looking for an apartment to rent in Bend, I would caution you against renting at The Commons. This is my TED Talk on just maintenance and management alone and how they're going to rip you off given the opportunity. Next TED Talk will focus on how you can practically interject in your neighbors conversations with how thin the walls are. Don't forget the abysmal parking situation. Happy apartment hunting!

The moment they had what they needed from us, their attitude completely shifted. Communication became rude, dismissive, and honestly, unprofessional. It felt like we went from being potential residents to a complete inconvenience overnight. They were more than happy to show us a run-down property on the outskirts of town--something that was barely livable and definitely not worth the price. But once we asked real questions or needed follow-up, they acted like we were bothering them. The shift in attitude was so blatant, it was insulting. If you're considering renting through them, be warned: the fake kindness disappears fast, and you're left dealing with a team that clearly doesn't care about the people they're supposed to serve. If I could give zero stars I wouldn't even do that.

There aren't many apartment complexes in Bend yet, and the majority of them are really old school…read more Stonebriar is decent, and it has two amenities that are important to me: in-unit washer/dryer, and car port. You would be surprised at how many of the places around here don't offer a washer/dryer in-unit. Pros: friendly management & maintenance crew, swimming pool, fitness center, washer/dryer, dishwasher, AC, heat, and carport!! Very helpful for the winter.. don't have to spend time to scrape ice off of your car. They also provided 2 free accent colored walls when I moved in. It is close to food- so a swing by to Whole Foods, Costco, and Worthy's Brewery are easy... and they just opened up a JIMMY JOHNS right across the street!! :) Cons: older apartment unit, thin walls (but most apartments are), no microwave, and can be louder, depending on how close your apartment is to the highway. I was disappointed that my unit was not as clean as I anticipated when moving in. All in all, its so difficult to find an apartment in Bend, so I feel fortunate to find a decent one that I can feel comfortable in.
