As time went on we decided that we would like to stay and have dinner here but indoors as it was getting cold. There were 14 of us and they managed to fit us into the restaurant area on the proviso we ordered quickly before the 6:30pm booking arrived and one table had to vacate by 8pm. The staff were great and we did not feel that we were being rushed even though some people had starters. A lot of us picked from the specials board and the food came out devine and the service was outstanding. The place was busy as it was the jazz/fringe festival weekend so the clientelle was of all ages (a bit annoying having babies/kids screaming thoughout the meal) including elderly who came in through the fire door for easy access. I would definitely recommend this place which is also dog friendly. This place is soo good that Seasick Steve was playing there that evening and eating his dinner in the pub part as we left.

I was so bored and miserable because he kept getting them wrong and he was wearing baggy trousers without a belt. He kept pulling up his trousers and there were some nice ladies there who had to keep looking away because his big ugly bum kept going on show. Eventually they complained and the manager had to come and ask jack to do the tricks outside in the pouring rain. Jack got upset and started asking around if anyone liked magic and everyone groaned and said no please go away. The staff were really nice about it though and the drinks and food was good.

I often find that you cannot judge a pub by its exterior. We were pleasantly surprised this afternoon. I don't know who put the spaniel by the door, but it was the perfect welcome! :) Welcome at the bar, not crowded but very cosy with a lovely open fire. We were guided to a lovely table by the fire which was perfect. We had a lovely lunch too. My wild boar sausages with leek and herbs were fantastic, all meat and no filler I could detect. The mash was yummy and the gravy. The veggies were water logged but I don't hold that against them. (my meal was less than £9.) My companion ate ham, egg and chips and it looked good.
