It is a great source of quirky gifts some admittedly more price than others however there usually is a great find to be had. The proprietor is very pleasant and also talented, she hand makes jewellery on the premises. The big draw of this fun shop is the unusual cards, I seem to find one for every occasion even ones for no occasion at all, they just make me laugh!

Hmmm?! It was only when I was heading for a wee bite to eat I saw this lovely looking shop. It was like a ray of light hit me, and I knew as soon as I walked in I would be able to find "something special". The lady was absolutely lovely and a great help. I explained what it was for and she came up with a candle beautifully wrapped with a personalised tag with my friend's name and saying happy 50th. It was perfect! The shop was beautifully laid out with lots of varied gifts for all occasions you can think of. Upstairs I found out was a wee coffee shop, but it was shut the time I got there, it's only opened for a while from 9.30am - 4.30pm. The lady told me they have lots of homemade goodies and their coffee is sourced from Matthew Algie. I will definitely need to stop by for their coffee shop next time. My friend was absolutely delighted with her present, so much so, she asked me where I had got it as she wanted to get something similar for her friend's birthday. Result! I cannot wait to go back, guess who's gonna be trying out a mocha?!

There is a delightful range of decorated diaries which caught my eye, exquisite jewellery, elegant handbags, Arran Aromatics, soaps and lovely scented candles something in every price range. There's a large display of top quality Christmas decorations and ornaments too. The young man who was serving there today was friendly, chatty and helpful. Definitely a place to visit to buy some gorgeous and unique Christmas gifts!

There's both a coffee bar and a sit-down cafe; we opted for the cafe, which was perfectly fine for a quick bite before wandering the shops. But the real fun was exploring the place itself. House of Bruar is part country store, part upscale gift shop, part museum of Things You Didn't Know You Needed. You can find everything from cashmere to kitchen tools, with price points ranging from impulse-buy to aspirational. We mostly window-shopped, but it was genuinely enjoyable - lots to look at, and beautifully presented. We did, however, make sure to raid the food section. They have an impressive selection of snacks, condiments, sweets, and treats, and picking out a handful of goodies to nibble on for the rest of our road trip was one of the highlights of the stop. In the end, the skeptic duo had to admit: this recommendation was a good one. If you're passing through, House of Bruar is well worth a visit - even if you just come for breakfast and a wander.

Beautiful setting in an all glass atrium. I tried the gluten free lemon and elderflower cake with a flat white. It was amazing. I would recommend stopping for brunch or lunch. There is a waterfall within walking distance that you should check out.

A huge part of me loves the mystery of something pre-loved. - And the SAAC definitely got this part of me giddy. Seriously. This is legitimately a vintage clothing, music, jewellery, glass, furniture, EVERYTHING shop. The place is HUGE. And they have a cafe and gift shop. You could really lose track of time, and even then, you'd feel like there was more to see. I didn't want to miss anything, and I've already planned my next visit, alongside a list of folks who I know will love it as much as I do. Price-wise, yes, antiques can be expensive business but if you're planning to buy a gift for someone special, then you could most definitely stay within budget. The jewellery section was absolutely stunning with an amazing amount of choice and a variety of prices too. Equally so, if you're looking for something really really special and prepared to spend that bit more, you won't be stuck for choice here. - There are just so many beautiful things I felt free to wander and, whilst staff walked around the centre and CCTV was in operation, it wasn't intrusive and it didn't make me feel uncomfortable. You could visit just for the sake of visiting and make a real day of it, and even go to the cafe afterwards. - Something I've a feeling I'll want to do again and again and again.

They do furniture, books, paintings, jewellery, clothes, old toys, coins, postcards - heck, just about anything! And when you're done there's a wee coffee shop there too. Brilliant for a rainy day or for hunting down that prize chesterfield furniture.

Perhaps Charmed and Buffy saw that trend flying into my high school, and I distinctly remember my then best friend's room looking not unlike this shop. Shops like Enchantment are becoming fewer and further between, but it's nice that this one still does well. There are little pewter ornaments of delicate garden sprites, elves and fairies lining the shelves of this place, and dangling from the ceiling in abundance. If you're into pixies, healing stones and a touch of magic, then you'll like it. My mum likes ornaments like these and it's a great wee resource not too far from the Royal Mile if you're looking for an impish wee pressie. It's a nice change from seeing green ornaments in the shape of Loch dwelling monsters.

Since this was the first trip back to the UK since meeting the wife it was time to go again. Their new place is only about 25 miles from the old one but is far smaller, maybe 1/3 the retail space. Even better though the access to the craftsfolk is no longer behind a wall, glass and almost totally insulated from the sound but occurs a foot or two away from behind the metal railing. If you are missing Phoenix heat at this time you will probably feel right at home:) There's a restaurant, gift shop and other crafts shops, like jewelry and ceramics nearby so it's easy to spend 1/2 a day here, I suggest spending the next half at that nearby Glen Turret distillery for another kind of glass appreciation:) There's a video presentation on glass making and the company history, kinda lo-tech. E.G., they have to come start the video :) There are hands on glass painting areas and what turned out to be a lot of fun for the wife the chance to make your own glass paperweight. (They may not be complete the same day so having it mailed on could be necessary ) I love their output and while I am not remotely a serious collector ( seriously don't have the serious money to keep up with it) these beat out any tourist trinket you can take back.

We weren't sure what to expect, but we were met by smiles and such sincere patience and guidance from Cullen, our glass-blowing master. He showed our son and daughter the ropes and helped them create masterpieces and memories they won't soon forget. Thank you to everyone at Caithness for making our visit an extra-special one!
