I always hear great things about this little spot. Small in size but packed with high value goodies. You may walk right past it as it's tucked down an alley but you can't miss the "Dragon's Den" sign. Finally made it in and totally appreciate the vibe. The Dragon's Den is a very attractive and easy-to-navigate Chinese medicinal store in Makawao, Maui. Herbs are clearly labeled in English along the wall behind the register. There are also a number of other natural medicine for sale. A cup of the store's daily tea is $2.50 with honey for an additional 50 cents. The day's tea was called "Warm Digestion Tea" which tasted very good without my needing to add honey or sugar. The tea was very soothing for my stomach. The sales associate was very knowledgeable in traditional Chinese medicine, and I saw a flyer that she indeed has a formal education in herbal medicine and teaches Flower Essence Therapy sessions. In addition to her class, Dragon's Den offers Adaptogen herb classes and a cleanse class that is starting in October. This store is worth stopping by for anyone interested in Chinese medicine or is in search of natural health remedies. read more

The seven year was back it at and spotted this shop around the corner and assisted we check it out. "I mean, we are a tea family". While inside she repeatedly started how great place smells, "it smells like earth." The seven year old loves to sip on tea while taking a bath, and loves chai. So there was a lot of excitement when we discovered that they had a rooibos chai. We also found adorable animals made out of crystals and an herb trail mix. The staff were an absolute delight. Knowledgeable staff, but beware unsolicited advice and moralistic judgments about your lifestyle. For example, I went in looking for a specific adrenal supplement that they unfortunately didn't have, so in response I was given an alternative recommendation that I politely declined. Although I expressed appreciation for his recommendation, he continued to press on with his unsolicited advice about my lifestyle until I told him matter-of-factly that I didn't need any advice. However, as he walked away from me, he uttered to me in a completely presumptuous and patronizing tone of voice that I needed to "stop drinking coffee, young lady." First of all, why are you bringing my age and gender into this? I told you directly, like the grown woman that I am, to not give me your advice. It is judgmental, know-it-all attitudes like this man's that are so stereotypical and off-putting that it inclines some people, like myself, to just buy products online. read more

Found this place a few years ago while visiting Maui. I had woke up with an eye infection and didn't feel like sitting in urgent care for 3 hours so we just went about our day. We stopped in Makawao for lunch and saw the Dragons Den, I walked in thinking maybe they could offer some relief with this eye infection. They were SO helpful and i walked out of there spending $18 for some drops and a eye shaped shot glass. I put the drops in the shot glass and blinked for a couple minutes twice a day. This not only cured my infection but it improved my vision! Visiting again recently they happily made me additional eye drops to take back home and they also helped my husband with his chronic back pain. This place and the people who work there are such a blessing! I am grateful to have stumbled upon the Dragons Den! read more
