In addition to books there are magazines, comic books, calendars, and puzzles. The owner is very nice and he's almost always the person working there. Like myself, he's a big history fan, and has given me several good suggestions when I've been looking for a new book. I would expect him to know a lot about books, but when I mention a title, he speaks about it like he's read it. He probably has. I've been buying books here for years. Typically I use Amazon to research titles and reviews, and then go to this store to buy it. It's rare that there isn't a copy on hand, and if not they will have it there quickly. These small bookstores are need to be supported.

They have a large selection of back issues and new releases. If you are looking for graphic novels instead don't worry they've probably got what you are looking for. I do wish they had more $1 books and more expensive wall books, but overall a good amount of inventory to browse through. They also have Funko Pops, Board Games, Magic the Gathering, and other TCGs. I choose my game shops largely based on interactions with the staff. They can make or break your experience. Mikey was incredibly inviting and upbeat - definitely made us want to come back! O - Opportunity to meet other people that love to game. Rockhopper drew a pretty decent crowd for being open such a short time. Can't wait to see it on a busy day. C - Commander nights on Saturdays and Tuesdays starting at 4pm. Most places start later and make it tough to work into your schedule. This is a huge win for me. K - Knowledge. There is nothing worse than a game store owner that knows nothing about games. Mikey had all the information pertaining to games, sets, scheduling, and his clientele. He's a real one. H - Hangover commander. Yes. Sundays are the day for hangover commander, D&D, and whatever else people are feeling like after a rough Saturday night. We love to see it. O - Open to everyone. As they should be. Happy Pride Month! P - Penguin theme. Self explanatory. P - Pretty good selection of comics, singles, board games, and other various game related items. E - Environment. The location and the vibe were very cool to us. It's nice to have a gaming location outside of the cities that is doing everything right! R - Raffles. Always fun. The staff is always really happy to be there and share their fantastic (in the most literal sense) shirts, posters, books, art, and anything else you can imagine. It's a bit pricey for some stuff but I'm happy to pay it as I'm supporting local makers and helping to keep creativity alive in my city. There's a TON of inventory in the back room waiting to be organized and put out, but I get that takes a while. It didn't feel the most shopper-ready yet. My brother found some things he was excited about, and I found a few unique books! The owner is so kind and has plans to do DND and game nights as well as music nights with all their space. 3 books was ~$40 so not the most affordable prices, but I'm not super tuned in with what comic books run. I think in a few more months the space will be more visitor-ready with more inventory available to look through!

They are in a new location since our last visit (used to be in Eagan). Per usual, everyone was friendly and helpful. I found a Harriet Tubman comic that I didn't even know existed. I bought the two copies they had. Everything was well organized and easy to peruse both the free and paid comics they have. This space is much smaller than their previous location. Fortunately, everyone was masked, which made us feel more at ease. One of the things I really love about this place, in addition to the fact that it's POC owned, is that I can be an all-out geek and nerd without getting any side eye. Chatting with the staff is fun and I always learn something new. I don't follow the comic world closely, so getting an update and to see the excitement of the person talking is quite infectious. It's probably why I've yet to spend less than $40 when we go there. Whether it's FCBD or not, this is the play for comics, graphic novels, and all kinds of things that you'll not find anywhere else. I'm not a model train guy, but am equally astounded by their selection and all of the supplies and accessories they stock for that hobby. Their selection of new kits is very deep and very well organized. The vintage kit selection is varied and reasonably priced. And bargains can be found in the back room if you know what you're doing. Staff is uniformly friendly; I am always greeted when I arrive. If I have a question or need help, it's always fast and efficient. if I just want to wander around and window shop, they don't seem to have a problem with that. This place is a real gem. A throwback to a time when shops like this dotted the twin cities. I haven't seen a shop like this since I used to shop at the old Moeller hobby shop in Robbinsdale. On the rare occasion I need something they don't stock, I will buy online. For everything else, there's no other shop anywhere who gets my business. This place is an absolute treasure.
