    Sausage kolaches!

Great little place! Always fresh and friendly. Whenever I host training classes in the Addison area, I come here and pick up my donuts and kolaches. Not the place for 50 different varieties, but just the right essentials for making people's mornings when you show up with the goods!

    Holiday donuts!!

I stumbled upon Yonutz while running errands (between Trader Joe's and the UPS store) I noticed…read morethis bright pink corner spot and figured I'd give it a try. That location's been a lot of things before, so maybe I should've known better, but I'm always curious when a place is dedicated to donuts. The ambience was fun. lots of pink, definitely Instagram-friendly. But then I saw a huge dead fly on the floor. Not trying to blame them, it was behind a tall glass serving station, so they probably didn't see it, but still, not a great first impression. The regular-sized donuts looked super fake, like they were drowning in frosting and sugary toppings. It was giving more "display case" than "edible." So, I went for four of the smaller ones, hoping variety might redeem the experience. But even then, I couldn't find four that looked genuinely appetizing. I settled on two chocolate and two Nutella, figuring Nutella's a safe bet. I took them to go and tried the Nutella one home, aaaannndddd I was disappointed. It was chewy in a stale kind of way, not the good kind. I had to grab milk just to get through it. I almost called to say something, but it was Friday, I was having a good day and didn't want to kill the vibe. I paid about $10 total (donuts, tax, tip) and just chalked it up as a lesson learned. My spouse had the chocolate ones and said they were "fine"--but he's not picky, so take that with a grain of sugar . Maybe they were just having an off day, but I won't be going back to find out. If you're curious, go check it out--it might be your thing. Just wasn't mine.

The place is back in the far corner of a strip center, so you have to keep your eyes open or you may miss it. We walked in and there was a young lady working the counter. To be honest she didn't seem too happy waiting on the customer in front of us. When she came over to talk to us we asked what they had and she said they only had ice cream sandwiched between two donuts. Not a pleasant girl only. When I finally pointed out that some looked like donuts she grumbled and walked away. A lady in the corner got up from the table and sent her back to us. Needless to say not great customer service. Finally ordered two regular donuts and got them to go. Honestly they were just ok. Not bad but not that great. Doubt we stop back by here with so many more options in the area.

We came across Jarams Donuts on Instagram, as their donuts looked really good, and we fancied…read moresomething sweet. We ordered two different types of kolache, and they were great. I would definitely order those again. The donut holes were fresh and crispy. We picked a few donuts to try and really liked the flakiness of the croissant donuts but were a bit disappointed with the fillings and toppings. Unfortunately, they use that very bright, glossy red, commercial-style "strawberry jam" rather than the type of strawberry jam made with noticeable real fruit. For me, it was far too sugary and had more of an artificial strawberry taste. The pastry itself was actually really good, so I think I would have enjoyed it more without the strawberry filling. I was also really looking forward to trying the Nutella & Strawberry Funnel. By this point, I already knew what to expect from the strawberry filling, but I wasn't expecting to be disappointed with the Nutella as well. Having lived in Europe for about a decade and eaten Nutella for years, what was in the funnel did not taste like original Nutella to me. It tasted more like a generic chocolate spread, and I couldn't really taste the hazelnut flavor that Nutella is known for. If it isn't actually original Nutella, I don't think it should be labeled as Nutella because that is what customers will expect when ordering it. At $5.99, I also thought the funnel was a little expensive, especially compared with the $4.69 cronut. The apple fritter, however, was great. The overall flavor and texture of the pastry made it our favorite donut we tried. Overall, it was a shame because our expectations weren't quite met. I wasn't expecting the most amazing pastries in Dallas, but based on how good everything looked online, I was expecting better-quality fillings and toppings. The actual pastries themselves had some really nice textures, and we really enjoyed the kolaches, donut holes, and apple fritter. I just think better-quality fillings and toppings would make a huge difference.
