Ben (owner) and Jessica (walker) have been amazing with our pups! We've been using them for over a year now for mid-day walks and I am SO happy with their services. Prior to The Dog Walker, I used another dog walking service and it was just a horrible experience in so many ways. I have no complaints about Ben & his crew. Pros: - organized - respond quickly - flexible - leave time-stamped report cards - my pups love them! My dogs are very hesitant with strangers, but they immediately hit it off with Jessica and she's been so great with them. It's hard trusting your fur babies with just anyone, but I couldn't have asked for a better walker. I love her personalized messages as well. Even though we only do a 30 minutes walk a couple of times a week, you can tell Jessica knows our pups so well and loves them so much. Also, I like how flexible Ben is. I email him at the beginning of the week with the days I'd like to have Jessica come (my work schedule is different every week) and that's that! He then emails out an invoice at the end of the month and I Venmo him, super easy! Ben and his walkers have taken care of my Buckeye since he was 10 weeks old in 2007. I started with Ben when he was first beginning his business. Every walker has been reliable and great with Buckeye and our newer dog Chippy. They are always courteous and check the water bowl and now that Buckeye is a senior dog, they are mindful of taking him out in the heat for too long and will sit and pet him after a shorter walk instead. read more

We usually board our pets (Rover Oaks) when we go away for the weekend, but we had a last minute jaunt to Dallas and decided to employ a walker instead. I was so happy to receive photo texts of my two dogs when Melissa came for the walks. I knew my dogs were happy and well taken care of. Upon my return, I found that Melissa had left little report cards for each dog that talked about what they did on their walks. So cute! They'll also take care of your trash, newspapers, plant watering, etc. so it appears that someone is home. This company has been a life saver. Ben and his staff have been walking my dog for two years now and I couldn't be more thankful for the high quality care they provide. The past year I have had two knee surgeries and attended several funerals where I had to cancel walks last minute, but they were always so understanding and helpful in any situation. Our puppy Zane is very high energy and growing by the day so these mid-day walks are a godsend. The owner, Ben, is very easy to work with and understanding of our flexible schedules. Makayla -our walker- is very diligent about securing our home when the walk is over and leaving progress reports daily as well as working with him on commands and loose leash walking just as we do when we walk him. Advise using someone else. They didn't have a formal system to handle booking or canceling appointments or transmitting dog walking instructions, didn't have good records for keeping track of invoices and the details of the walks for preparing invoices, and were very disorganized and forgetful. I got invoices that were wrong multiple times so you have to keep track of the walks yourself. The walkers seemed more like independent contractors than employees in that the company cannot assure the quality of the walkers or the walks. The walkers also are at capacity a lot and so you sometimes have to make other dog walking arrangements when their walkers are too busy. read more

I can't say enough good things about Ben, the owner, and Derek, our walker. This is less expensive than driving to doggie daycare and way more convenient. Payment options are great and it's incredibly flexible. My dog is happy and my guilt is eased. I enjoy coming home to the little report at the end of the day. Ben and his walkers are fantastic! We have used The Dog Walker for the last 2 years and have appreciated the reassurance that our dogs are being taken care of by competent, loving dog walkers. Our 2 dogs are large breeds and young/highly energetic and our walkers have done a wonderful job with them. I like that they leave detailed progress reports so I know exactly when they came and any highlights from the walk. More importantly, the notes they leave confirm that Ben hires passionate dog lovers, which is important to us. Additionally, Ben is extremely responsive and has accommodated last minute requests for us - for example, I recently had a baby and am very appreciative that I was able to text Ben from the hospital to add extra walks that day to ensure my dogs were taken care of. Ben is easy to get in touch with via text, email or phone call and our monthly invoices have always been accurate. I can't say anything about their actual dog walking services. But I can say that I was not impressed with the phone conversation I had with the owner. I was interested in dog walks 5-7 days a week for 1 year. Sounds like pretty good business for them, right? Well, apparently he didn't think it was... Basically, this is the #1 ranked dog walking service in Houston right now which means he has no trouble finding customers, and therefore, didn't really take the time to earn my business. In fact, he gave me the number of another dog walker! I guess you could say that was nice of him to do that, but I left the conversation feeling like he didn't really care. I called the company's primary phone number last Thursday and left a message asking the company to return my call. I also filled out a Quick Service Form on their website, since I didn't know whether phone or web was the best way to reach them. On Monday, I followed up with another phone call since I had not heard from them. It's now been one week and I haven't received return phone call or a response to the web form I submitted. Has anyone else had this experience? Is this company currently not accepting new customers? Common courtesy and certainly good business practice would dictate a return phone call, regardless of the situation. read more
