What an incredible experience, I didn't want to leave. A little pricy but it's all worth it, I felt so relaxed and rejuvenated. The place was a little tricky to find but there are signs that will lead you to the right place. The space was beautiful, so peaceful and so quiet. Lots of greenery, fruit trees, and just a welcoming environment. It was very private as well. Started off with the ice bath and the lovely Dara explained everything so I knew what to prepare for. She was with me every step of the way, it's hard at first but her encouragement really helped. The sauna was amazing and has Bluetooth, which was really nice after the ice bath. The gua sha was really cool, it felt just like a massage and was so relaxing. Dara explains everything in full detail which I really loved. My first time trying cupping was incredible, it felt so wonderful it almost put me to sleep! Everything about this place is excellent. I did the full package staying in the tiny house where meals were prepared for me. The food was outstanding; exactly what I was looking for. Clean, light, and fresh. However I will say that my favorite in the food department was the juice. It's so rich when it's so fresh vs cold pressed store bought (which normally tastes very watered down). Pure Magic!!! This place has been the catalyst for some beautiful breakthroughs and healing for me. I attended a day retreat for women and during our sharing circle we were all brought to tears. It was incredible to see everyone's walls come down. It felt like such a safe place, to share, be vulnerable an be held. Even the support and love all the women gave each other during the ice bath was incredible. We don't realize how powerful connection is and the ability to be supported and without expecting it the detox cottage provided that for us all. I am beyond thankful that I came across The Detox Cottage right as the new year began. The detox treatment was exactly what I needed and included access to the infrared sauna, skin cleaning, and Gua Sha. The cottage itself was tucked off the main road, allowing the space to be quiet and serene. Dara was very warm and welcoming, she was also incredibly informative. It was my first time using an infrared sauna as well as experiencing Gua Sha, and Dara made everything feel at-ease. The entire afternoon was magical. By the end of my treatment, I felt like I was on Cloud-Nine and completely at bliss. I will definitely be returning, and will maybe even try something new next time too ;-) read more

Detrimental experience, WARNING I would warn anyone coming here against even stepping foot on the property. It is dirty, covered in dust & mouse droppings (which gave me an infection), moldy, disgusting. Dara is a privileged woman who doesn't understand illness or the real world, & is a snake-oil salesman, a liar-- operating as a medical person w/ no credentials or licensure. I assume her good reviews are bought & paid for by Yelp reviewers she invited. Dara lied about what she does there, & I came to detox mold, not realizing that her tiny house was covered in mold. Further, it was littered with mouse poop that gave me dual ear infections, & a gut infection. My cat was also hurt by her. I have been very ill for a few years, from multiple things, & I wasn't getting better due to mold toxicity. I contacted Dara about her "services." Seemed like a really nice person who cared & told me that she could help people w/ all sorts of diseases! & that she had had helped people with mold toxicity. She offered me what she called a deep discount ($2,500, though she wound up charging more) on staying there for a month, w/ option to extend into Dec. She said all meals would be covered & I could come there w/ my cat & she would help me w/ all sorts of healing modalities like gua sha, herbs, massage, & I could use the sauna (which wound up being covered in black specks of mold). Everything was covered in a layer of dust. Like she had not had customers in a year. There was mold in the bathroom, in the window grates, all over the air conditioner, all over the "patio" in the back of the house, the patio umbrella, covering the back of the tiny house (which she improperly built herself), & the backyard where she "worked." There was old food underneath the couch & I had to sweep it up so that my cat would not get to it. There was dust & mouse poop on the counters, dishes, sink. She kept apologizing that there was mold, poop, -- she didn't know, she said. I wanted to believe her. I thought that she was a kind person who had made a grave mistake. The food I did have was awful. Soup that was like frozen vegetables in water. She kept apologizing & I thought she was sincere, but there was anti-rodent spray in the closet. She knew there was an issue. On the night that I left, she said that she would refund. Unfort b/c I had no place to go, I wound up spending 1000s of $ & getting much sicker running all around trying to find a place, all while I was supposed to have had a place to lay my head. I cannot even express to you the toll this took on my life, the time I've lost to get well, the trauma I've endured, while I was supposed to be healing. My poor cat... she is so traumatized. She jumps around & has a fear of loud noises & when I have to scoop her up she half the time thinks I'm going to be taking her to yet another place. The cat started sneezing at Dara's place, & she hasn't stopped. She wound up covered in dust & mouse crap from running around Dara's place- it was EVERYWHERE. She went in the window grate, that's how I saw there was mold. She has not behaved the same since our trip. I've never had a cat w/ severe anxiety. Thanks, Dara. Not only did you harm me, but a little cat. Btw, Dara lets her cat roam around & I had to watch it when it was in a dangerous situation atop a cheap trellis; she saw but didn't care or help it get down. I ultimately wound up returning to my moldy home. Where I sit writing this, knowing that I probably am going to pass away b/c my body is giving out. I am trying to find another place to go & start all over again but it's hard because I am $10k in debt from running around after her house, & I have spent more on trying to fight the infections that I got from her mouse poop, & trying to get better. I had a plan w/ my doc to have an FMT done once I detoxed the mold, it's sitting & deteriorating in his cryogenic freezer because I'm still not well, 3mo later. My chances of healing are dwindling. There is no $ value you can put on the trauma that my cat & I endured, I would never have come to CA if I thought that I would be w/ no place to go. I even got attacked while traveling. When I was supposed to be sleeping soundly at Dara's moldy mouse poop shack. All b/c she can't think about anybody but herself, & money. You would think that she would check to for any signs of mold. And then, here's the kicker-- She refused to give me my money back. She blocked me on text and she told me to look at her cancellation policy. I had to dispute it with my credit card company in order to get a refund. She said there's no mold. After apologizing profusely, previously. It's not like I didn't take photos. She is an unscrupulous person operating as some kind of medicine man, she has no idea what she's doing & I don't think she's ever had any health problems in her life. She is in very good shape, owns her own house, does not have a care in the world & is going to make bank on you. read more

Hands down the most incredible experience. I was so excited going into this, thought I'd be a total pro, and boy was I wrong lol. BUT the amazing Dara was the most amazing person to have guide you/by your side through this beautiful day of detox. The yoga session was incredible. I have never been so sore from yoga! However doing it felt so good to get everything warmed up and circulating. Didn't think I got a work out from it until the next morning lol. Then the ice bath, WHAT AN EXPERIENCE!! If you're going to do only one thing do the ice bath!! Again, I thought I'd be such a pro and handle it like a champ and control my breathing but I was all over the place. I couldn't calm my breathing down and wanted to jump out the second I jumped in but sweet Dara literally just put her hand on our shoulders and I was almost instantly able to calm down and try to ease into the freezing cold.. however after you jump out and your feelings restore you feel so incredible and invigorated etc. highly recommend!! Could not recommend enough actually. Then the gua sha!!! l'm a total believer and really going to make an effort to do the entire experience once a month. I did the 2 hour infrared sauna, body scrub & gua sha package. The sauna has Bluetooth you can hook up to and listen to music or a meditation practice while you relax for as long as you'd like. I unfortunately didn't think to take my phone so didn't use the Bluetooth and didn't stay as long as I would have since I have no concept of time. I'll know for next time. I had been wanting to try gua sha and it was everything I had hoped and expected. It felt amazing and I am returning in a couple weeks to do the larger package and experience so much more. read more
