I visit here frequently if I want to update my house with a few new pieces of furniture or a new flower display. They have a massive craft section with bits and bobs from making your own christmas cards to arranging your own flower display. They have several different sections that cater for both home and garden and you can literally find almost anything you might need for your home. This Dunelm is a super store so thankfully has a coffee shop. Take advantage of the Latte mid shop...you won't regret it! I love Dunelm for buying bedding, although some ranges can be expensive (they stock Kylie Minogues collections), a lot of the ranges are very reasonably priced. That reasonably that I can pick a few sets up even on my student budget. If you want to find something to spice up your living room like a few unusual cushions or a new vase then you'll love looking around in this place.

Being a general nosy sort I always like to check out all the shops in a town, and KD Carpets was no…read moreexception. It might seem like small minded fun but it's nice to have an aimless wander and a natter with something none-too-challenging to browse whilst doing so. Think of it like watching Hollyaks whilst eating your tea, or similar. Something a little 'dumbed down' to eat to and then you can go back to some serious thinking. My friend and I wandered into KD Carpets and we were met by a sea of samples. Samples of all different finishes, styles and well, the colour range was mostly in the naturals and beige department. But then, unless you are my Dad and want a sort of sunset terracotta colour, I imagine most people would want something natural to go with all kinds of furnishings. They also had a number of different laminate options for kitchens and bathrooms too, so on the flooring front it seemed as though all bases were covered. It seemed as though the more expensive the carpet the smoother the feel was, with the 'festival' sample (£11.99) feeling a little more rough to the touch than the 'sensation' (£17.99). All in all we didn't stay too long, as we were only browsing, but it seemed like a fairly extensive carpet shop. They had a range of pretty decent looking mattresses too so it's a pretty handy shop to know about if you are kitting your house out! They are also open 7 days a week, and the chap in there seemed really nice and friendly too. Not bad!

I have used KD for various things, be it the flooring at my work, and the flooring in my home, I would never go anywhere else!!! Cant stress how helpful the staff are, they have good knowledge of products, and worked everything around me and what suited me - the same with the guys I support, in their home. They came out to measure up at a time that suited us, gave professional advice through the whole process! When in and fitting the carpets they were so polite and did such an amazing job - they took away all mess and old carpet so that we didn't have to worry about it. I would never go anywhere else for flooring!!!

They also sell the pads for cushions and pillows and duvets which is a plus that you can get them all under the one roof. The staff are lovely and friendly and very eager to please - i have even had a couple of quid nocked off just because i smiled and the guy serving me said id made his day. The store is easy to find in kirkgate but if you want to go inside the little store it isnt easy to manouvre as its so small so its best just to ask the assistant to show you what you want.

Nevertheless, this doesn't mean that I have to ignore interior design shops altogether. It can be good fun browsing regardless, especially if you have time on your hands to have a wander. The Knaresborough Kitchen Company is one of those excellent home-grown indie-to-mighty contenders in the kitchen design world. Personally, from browsing in their Otley showroom, it seems as though they have all the benefit of their indie roots - the designs are fresh and unique with a kind of personal edge to them that you just wouldn't find in a huge Wickes or Homebase. You don't need to buy everything - you can just walk away with a kitchen sink if you need, the staff are friendly and always make you feel welcome. If you are seriously looking, or just future dreaming, The Knaresborough Kitchen Company are a great place to start.
