The food and beverage department is a disaster. Higher ups trying to clean everything up and over budget. They will write you up for anything. If you are a good worker they will make you stay longer after all the other servers leave to help. Management acts worse than children and aren't direct. I wouldn't recommend working here unless you have gotten a lobotomy. You are better off putting fries in the bag at McDonald's. Save your time and energy. Would rate 0 stars if I could.

Whatever you do, do not send your loved ones to this facility. Based on what I have personally…read morewitnessed and experienced, this place is unsafe, unprofessional, and deeply concerning. Unprofessional and Rude Staff The nursing staff is often dismissive and rude toward residents. Elderly individuals deserve compassion, patience, and respect not hostility or indifference. Culture of Racism This facility was formerly known as Porters Neck Plantation. While the name has changed, the culture inside appears not to have. I have personally heard racist comments directed at Black and Brown staff members, made by both residents and staff. That kind of environment is unacceptable in any setting, especially one responsible for vulnerable individuals. Failure to Respond to a Medical Emergency A family friend experienced a medical emergency and did not check in during the required morning check. Residents are supposed to be checked on if they fail to report by a certain time. In this case, she was left lying on the floor for hours. While she survived, we were initially told it had only been a short period of time -- later evidence suggested otherwise. The lack of accountability and transparency surrounding this situation was extremely disturbing. Food Safety Concerns From what I observed, food safety practices appear careless at best. I witnessed raw food sitting out for extended periods at unsafe temperatures before being prepared and served. Elderly residents are particularly vulnerable to foodborne illness, and this kind of negligence is alarming. Exorbitant Costs The financial burden is staggering -- entrance fees reportedly range from $700,000 to over $1,000,000, followed by monthly fees between $5,000 and $15,000. For that level of cost, families should expect exceptional care and safety. Based on my experience, the value simply is not there. Unwelcoming to LGBTQIA+ Individuals This does not feel like a safe or inclusive environment for LGBTQIA+ residents or staff. I have observed intolerance and believe there is discrimination in hiring and retention practices. In summary, this facility presents itself as upscale and reputable, but what happens behind closed doors tells a very different story. Families looking for a safe, respectful, and transparent environment for their loved ones should think very carefully before choosing this community.

The nursing staff was very kind and attentive to my mom's needs, however, the management doesn't know left from right or up from down. It's an absolute disaster. For example, Donna Ivey (business manager) said that my mom would have transportation home, but then they told us there's no transportation arranged on weekends and she was being discharged on a Sunday when we were originally told she was being discharged on a Monday or Tuesday. Also, when we asked the occupational therapist, named Katy, if she could help us transfer mom into our car, she said our mom was not on her schedule today and that was not something she was willing to help with. That is absolutely abysmal care. I WILL NEVER RECOMMEND this facility for care when the professional rehabilitation staff is unwilling to assist a patient who cannot walk to a private vehicle when medical transportation is unavailable. The medical care for the elderly in this country is horrible. Davis WAS NOT our 1st choice in New Hanover County, but it had availability. My mother had a less than stellar experience at Novant. We were hoping Davis would be better, and it was re: the nursing staff, but upper level management and Occupational Therapy left much to be desired! Lastly, we decided to have well care continue her home physical therapy and Davis provided their own phone number and address as our mother's forwarding address for WellCare, so they were unable to contact our mother. The devil is in the details and if you don't get details right in medical care, people can die. This kind of care is sloppy, unprofessional and unacceptable. It's a sad of affairs.

This was in part due to worsening unsteadiness on my feet, fear of falling or breaking a hip and ending up in a nursing home. I took my MD's advice and contacted Dr. Jeff Weisler with Wrightsville Beach Physical Therapy, and I can honestly say that I am glad that I did. Wrightsville Beach Physical Therapy's in-home, concierge model makes receiving Physical Therapy services as easy for me as waking up from a nap and heading down stairs! Dr. Jeff Weisler has helped me significantly improve my balance, strength, stamina and walking tolerance. I am once again able to walk beyond the end of my driveway, to/from our dock and around the block. I am becoming more comfortable walking over uneven, grassy terrain around our home and in the community; often without needing to take multiple seated rest breaks as I had before therapy. Dr. Weisler is very knowledgeable and compassionate, yet he has a great sense of humor, and always comes to my home with a smile. He really listens to me and is always looking for ways to incorporate my personal interests into our treatments in ways that will challenge and motivate me: For example- repairing a dock box, installing cleats, making flag pole adjustments, etc. It's a pleasure to work with Dr. Jeff Weisler and I always look forward to each therapy session whether its for pain relief or just maintaining my strength and mobility to continue confidently and happily living in my own home. Having that information and phone number, I contacted Dr. Jeff Weisler and am so glad I did. I really thought I would need surgery on my shoulder because of the severe pain that was actually keeping me awake at night. During my first session with Dr. Jeff, (as I call him), I was impressed with his willingness to really listen to my complaint about my shoulder pain, and he had great insight and wisdom as to getting me on a plan to improve my condition and completely get me back to normal. In a matter of a few sessions, I was already making progress and it was looking like things were starting to go in the right direction... there was improvement. He explained to me that after 68 years on this earth I needed to strengthen my core muscles. I was very faithful sticking to his guidelines and exercises. With his expert knowledge I am fully recovered. I went from not being able to lift a gallon of milk with my left arm to basically lifting what I want. I challenge anyone my age to arm wrestle me, even a few years younger, hahaha!! Seriously, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND Dr. Jeff Weisler. Not only is he an awesome doctor, he is a genuine, kind and caring person. Dr. Jeff truly loves people, and it is his passion to help them have a normal life. I give him an A+ and feel very Blessed and fortunate to know him.

I had upcoming hip surgery and need companion care once I arrived back home following one day surgery. I interviewed 4 local groups and Happier at Home and Barbara the owner were clearly the winner. If is not that they sold me , but the delivery was on a scale of 1-10, 10 being best a 20! Their paperwork is flawless, their ability to deal with the individuals insurance is excellent. The care person they provided was like having a family member in my house. She was not only on top of everything but way ahead of me as I continued to improve under her supervision at home. I can not say enough about their organization, care and professionalism. Lou
