They were on their phones at the desk and never looked up when I went to ask a question. I regularly heard the staff making fun of the residents and their families. My father was often in soiled clothes and everything he owned disappeared. The entire placed smelled of urine. We were lucky that a bed came available somewhere else.

It has taken me several months to write this review. When my dad entered care for the first time,…read morewe were extremely emotional. Bianca, the admissions person at the time sold us on the facility. When my dad went to Northside(locked memory care), they lost his belongings, his roommate kicked him out of his room in order to hang out with his girlfriend, and he was bullied. We brought up our concerns and Bianca, who had been promoted offered to try him in Southside. Bianca always tried to work with us, but when she went part time, all bets were off. He received good care on Southside, but they wanted him out because he was too difficult and required too much care. My dad fell while in Southside due to dehydration and was sent to the hospital. The hospital released him a few hours later and I drove him back. The nurse was livid. Soon after that we were told he needed to go back to Northside. The first night in Northside, everything that my dad owned disappeared including his blanket with family photos on it. A couple things returned( not the blanket with his picture on it), but every replacement I brought disappeared. While I knew this was a possibility, I did not realize that everything would be gone and no one would care because we signed a paper acknowledging they weren't responsible for missing items. My dad started loosing significant weight. The food was terrible and they were not given several of the item that were listed on the paper/menu. Bread was listed and they never had it. I overheard a nurse tell a resident on the Southside that that she would have to speak to management because they don't provide bread. No one really paid attention to whether he ate or not and other residents started eating his food. We began bringing him extra meals and water every time we came to supplement. He lost 30lbs. A large amount of the residents just stood at the nursing station. Several times that I visited, the nurses were on their cell phone and ignoring the residents. There were a few nurses who were completely dedicated, but they couldn't handle the whole group by themselves and management did not work nights or weekends to make sure that the residents were taken care of. Almost every time I visited, there was feces on my dad's bed linens, clothes and occasionally his other items. He was rarely dressed in his own clothes and they were falling off of his body. Multiple times he had a dried crusty diaper on that was hanging half way out of his pants. We were told that they went outside which is one of the reasons we really liked the place. They never went outside and never did the activities listed. If he wanted to go outside, we had to find a nurse willingly to let us take him out and then hope they remembered we were outside because we would be locked out. His was given multiple drugs one of which needed to have his blood pressure checked which they neglected to do and had to send him to the emergency room where they discovered that in addition to dangerously low blood pressure he was extremely dehydrated. My mom and I were 4 hours away, luckily other family members weren't. While visiting, one of the nurses, not realizing that I was there. Started making fun of my dad. He did this twice in the same day. I spoke to him the second time. I caught him a third time yelling at my dad because he was annoyed by his presence and then continued to talk about him to the person he was on the phone with. We were intermittently notified about drug changes and injuries. Some injuries to my dad's hands we knew that he bruised easily on his hands when he bumped them. One day when we were changing his clothes because he had been in the same dirty clothes for three days, we noticed a palm size bruise on his upper arm we were never notified about. I couldn't sleep and had nightmares about my dad being at the facility. I would go to work crying every Monday morning. We would not have kept him there if we had a choice and worried if we reported them there would be repercussions. I know that he will eventually die, but I was convinced he wouldn't last a year in that facility. The minute we could move him, we did.

I have a good friend whose Grandmother lives at Fauquier Health Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. My friend is in constantly to visit her Grandmother - and she does volunteer work at Fauquier Health Rehabilitation and Nursing Center as well. She volunteered to take me on a tour of the facility. I was astonished at the difference in ambiance. The place felt good - it has a nice vibe to it. And it was clean. The staff are on top of everything. She knew many of the residents and we stopped and chatted with some in the hallway, in the dining room - everyone was so happy here! We visited with her Grandmother for a while and she told me several times how much she likes the place. She commented to me several times that the food is very good. I asked my friend what the response times were on average when a resident pressed the "call" button. She told me around 30 seconds or so. Fauquier Health Rehabilitation and Nursing Center is fully committed to the Planetree patient-centered care alliance. The Planetree philosophy is a holistic approach to patient care that encompasses the body, mind and spirit, and encourages the participation of family and friends in care and rehabilitation. http://planetree.org/ The facility is very popular due to their level of care and service. So it's hard to get someone in - hopefully if you have a loved one that needs this level of care - you'll be able to get them into Fauquier Health Rehabilitation and Nursing Center!

Pro tip: if you person in the facility needs something specific it is best to go every day. Nearly every time someone from my family could not see my dad for a day he would get dehydrated. Also keep an eye on a catheter if they have one. If and when they are changed keep an eye that the bag is filling (gross, but important). The other good thing about this facility is how close it is to fauquier hospital, in case something happens. There are different wings depending on need. The rooms are rather small, but do the job. There is a small area for visitng with drinks and coffee and water. there is also free internet.

For the last year of her stay, she was bedridden so she relied solely on the staff for care and she paid additional for this care. She had an alert pendant around her neck to let the staff know if she needed something. She complained a lot that it took a long time to get someone to change her diaper, adjust her in bed, etc. On more than one occasion, we checked her pendant to see if it was working correctly and noticed that the battery had been removed. The overall condition of the room was unsanitary: dirty floors, filthy bedside table, overflowing trash. We did voice our concerns and the issues were addressed temporarily until our next visit. In addition, we have still not received the refund from her prepayment for her last month's care. We had been promised multiple times even after in person visits to the business manager that "the check is in the mail". To date, we have not received the reimbursement check and no one is returning our calls.

I went with my kids when I was about 22 weeks pregnant with my third, to get us all cleanings. I have horrid pregnancies, and hg the whole first half, meaning my teeth suffer from constant throwing up. So. Going there I told them that was the case. And that even though I brush twice a day and try to stay on top of my vitamins. My gums are usually weak and suffering. The dentist started a fight with me. Said I don't brush my teeth, and also doubted I was pregnant. Accused me of lying and was just a total jerk. Nearly had me in tears. I'm talking. Did the step back look over your whole body and back. Laying down on the chair my belly doesn't show as much. So I had to stand up for him to believe me. And then after all that. The bill came. They double dip. Charge the max they can for out of network and then charge insanely high for simple cleanings out of pocket too. Atrociously over priced. And atrocious service. I hear the other dentist is better. But I won't go back ever to find out. Ended until going to warrenton to find awesome dental care.
