They were the absolute worst law firm I could've ever had being a first-time defendant in a rear-end car accident (I was the one who was rear-ended, and they couldn't get the case settled in over 4 1/2 years). In total, I ended up speaking with 5-6 legal assistants due to the turnover at the firm, and 4 lawyers (including David Komie himself, who promised he'd oversee this and ensure it's settled ASAP - needless to say, that was the first & last time I ever spoke to him). Chris Morrow was the first attorney I met with and who took the case. He was useless, never responded and did absolutely nothing to move the case forward. Facts about the case: I was driving southbound on I-35, early Saturday evening, around 5:00pm or so. Of course, it was the usual stop-go traffic that's common in Austin, so we came to yet another stop which everyone did, though for those following too closely and/or not paying attention it was pretty close (heard tires screeching around me). Because it happened so quickly my first reaction was to glance in the rear-view mirror and I saw a car barreling down and not stopping (she wasn't paying attention, and in her own words "I was looking down while eating"). Fortunately, she looked up at the very last minute and slammed on the brakes but not before crashing into the rear of the car I was driving. It was a violent crash, and since I saw her coming I naturally tensed up so my body twisted in a very unnatural way upon impact. I was referred to Komie Law Firm from a family member who had used them previously. Sadly, they were not able to move a simple open/closed case like this forward in 4 1/2 YEARS! They continually dropped the ball, misled and flat-out lied to me (Chris Morrow did so on many occasions), and communication was virtually non-existent. If I didn't call them I'd never know what was going on, they rarely if ever called, it was usually to return my call. They never deposed the other driver, and claimed it took over 2 years to serve her. Really? A student at UT who provided her home address, and they couldn't track her down? Every legal assistant I spoke with had no idea what was going on with the case since it seemed no one spoke to one another in the office. Finally, in early 2022, after 4 1/2 years of nothing, received a call out of nowhere from Matthew Komie (had never spoken to him prior to this and didn't even know he worked at the firm). He advised me they were going to bring on a co-counsel and asked if I was ok with that. I advised that anything to help move this case forward was fine with me, and voiced my frustration at his firm to which of course I received the standard "we understand, and are very sorry" response. Long story short, within a little over a year co-counsel was able to settle the case with both insurance companies that were sued and I've finally been able to put this behind me as of April, 2023. After 5 1/2 years and the worse legal representation anyone could've ever hoped for the first time having to contact a lawyer, it was very disappointing to learn that the attorney who did all the work received about $14,000 and that Komie still received about $9,200 for doing virtually nothing! At best, they did about $2,500 worth of work on this case! They did nothing to help ME, the person they were supposedly working for, only making my life much more difficult and stressful than it ever should have been. I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND ANYONE TO THEM FOR LEGAL REPRESENTATION, EVEN PEOPLE I DISLIKE! It was a waste of almost 5 years of my life, with nothing but lies, stress, frustration, and B.S.!

So, 50 years old, degree from University of Michigan, no criminal record, no physical evidence, no injury, physically handicapped (see photo), exculpatory video, and I get convicted on a pile of bullshit inconsistent testimony and a fabricated 911 call and sentenced to 10 years TDC w/ probation. What...A...Coincidence. Maybe I'll get it over-turned on appeal, but my life is ruined... Here's the thing, I saw Richard at the Courthouse yesterday and he had the audacity to make SMALL-TALK. I was polite. However, the grievance I am preparing to file will be strongly worded piece with sharp, cantankerous overtones. Think Jim Morrison meets Kurt Cobain with a shot of Jane's Addiction.
